Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (End Game)
That was our doing (per SVS's suggestions). She knew you were the judge after that "two nights in a row" commentary, and we didn't want our actions getting skipped again. Also I don't recall what clan your role was aligned as, but that one had come up in Devin's cycle, so he killed you.Roxy wrote:I forgot to bring up why I thought there was two nights - it is bc there were TWO NIGHTS!
The first night I got to use my power. The second night I did not get to use my power bc LC gave me the lame reason that the game *must* go on and could not be stuck in perpetual night.(jk LC) Then I was silenced the second night.
I say two night bc of my perspective at the time felt like two nights.
Using my power then not being able to use my power
Not being silenced then was silenced
Get it?
Also why was I killed? I felt it was clear that I was unrecruited and I played my role to cause pure chaos.
Since Caelia got the nightkill in on Night 7, I tinfoiled that you were in cahoots with Caelia and had to go.

The first use of the word on this site goes to SVS (under a sock name) in Grimm's Fairy Tale Mafia.juliets wrote:Unfurl, in my opinion you are right, meta is not a word we ever used at LP,the piano, or rev mafia. It wasn't used at TS at the beginning either. I can't put a date on it but you have been playing longer than I have and I consider it a relatively new word that describes a concept that we always used - we just called it something different.

You are correct, it's a term that refers to a player's play style.unfurl wrote:I have a question- curious about something
Where does the term "Meta" comes from?
like back in the days from RM, I dont recall peole using it, but now people refer a lot do it
If im correct is like someone style? but is the term sort of new? or am I have been to sidetracked that I never noticed it before :P
I have no idea how long it's been used, but it's been commonplace on this site since I can remember.

Fixed.
I was surprised that the Hoagies excepted it. I threw it together in about 5 minutes right before the deadline. I wasn't going to submit anything originally, but the idea sprung to my mind when I was listening to an Iron Maiden song, lol.
Sorry to steal your thunder and your original role though. That's a bummer.

Great game, hosts.
Thanks, team! Sorry I was useless.
I totally respect the concept and like the role from a mechanics perspective (the idea of balancing reward with risk and randomness is interesting), but it wasn't actually a very fun role to play. I mostly ignored my powers, to be honest, because they felt for the most part too arbitrary and randomeness-based to really want to bother investing in. I think a more tactically gifted player could have made great use of them, but I am not that player.Sorry, MM.

On a related note, I was very sad the Hoagies didn't choose the role I submitted.

I tried playing this game as civilian-friendly as possible, so I could then have the cred if I flipped and because I didn't feel the neutral approach to the early part of the game. Obviously in addition to a stressful start to the PhD semester, I struggled with baddie hunting this game due to the large amount of neutrals.

We had your alignment pegged down, but not your role, so we never had a reason to question it I don't think.Bullzeye wrote:A fair assumption to make. "One just finished the Epic Challenge last night

I'm pretty sure my night action got redirected though, because these didn't really match up.
We assumed that the redefined role could only apply to the original vanilla players or possible reywas.

"Epic Challenge: You must be the last man standing in your team, once your Epic Challenge has been met you will become Independent. There can only be one! Last Man Standing. You will kill every night on top of your regular positions."Ricochet wrote:The Immortal - MM
-- What was your epic challenge?
Yup. The less I killed, the less people would realize that the Immortal was alive.Ricochet wrote:-- Lol dat freaking gossip position 5!

I tried to kill G-Man on Night 1, but he was the Jilted Lover, so that is why he survived, being in Position 1.Ricochet wrote:-- Why didn't your N1 random kill work?
I actually ended up protecting Devin (my future teammate), and blocking Spacedaisy, which helped us learn who she was.Ricochet wrote:-- Which players got block and protected on N1?
I targeted these three players: aapje, Canucklehead, timmer. This was my gossip.Ricochet wrote:-- Who did you send gossip to on D/N2?
"The Immortal hears much. One of the players has altered the lynch for almost half the players in the game, one of them is inadvertently responsible for killing Typhoony, and one has just tried to pull a scheme for power that failed almost ironically."
Canucklehead was the first one, as she was the Gambler (the role I also created). Timmer accidentally helped kill Typhoony. Aapje was the one who ironically failed the big scheme. He or SVS will have to tell you about that.

I picked TinyBubbles, Sorsha, and Boomslang to effect their votes. It didn't end up being meaningful though because the lynch was switched indirectly by Ubzargan.Ricochet wrote:-- Which players got vote manipulated on D/N4?
I was recruited early Night 5 (or was it Day 5). So I protected my three teammates Night 5: aapje, SVS, and Tranq.Ricochet wrote:-- Which players did you protect on D/N5?
On Night 6, I targeted birdwithteeth, synonym & bea for gossip.Ricochet wrote:-- Who did you send gossip to on D/N6?
"One of these players received some information about a baddie last night, one missed their PM the night before, and one is affecting today's lynch!"
I believe Synonym received information about a baddie because of his role. Birdwithteeth was most likely the one who missed his PM. Bea had a role that surely affected the lynch. Unlike the first batch, these are all educated guessses.
I targeted Scotty, Sorsha, and DharmaHelper. DH survived yet another kill attempt. No idea how the other two were affected though.Ricochet wrote:-- Which player got blocked and protected on N8?
I protected the usual 3 players, my teammates: Tranq, SVS, and aapje. As a result, Tranq survived the next day's lynch.Ricochet wrote:-- Which players did you protect on D/N9?
I decided not to use it. There were enough lynch-altering roles active in Position 2, that I realized my power was useless.Ricochet wrote:-- Which players got vote manipulated on D/N10?
I picked bullseye, TH, and Sorsha for gossip.Ricochet wrote:-- Who did you end gossip to on D/N11?
"One just finished the Epic Challenge last night
One may just lose it all today
One had to have their role redefined"
I'm pretty sure my night action got redirected though, because these didn't really match up.
aapje nightkilled Epignosis. I targeted Epignosis, bea, and G-Man to share the same fate. Had I not been roleblocked by Spacedaisy, it would have totally worked too.Ricochet wrote:-- Which player got the same fate on D/N12 and what was that fate?
Again, I didn't use this power because of the vote manipulation obviously in play via llamazura.Ricochet wrote:-- Which players got vote manipulated on D/N13?

That was just me voting the poll without reading it. If it was any other position poll, the masses would have dominated it anyway, so I thought nothing of it. I tried to use my +2 to manipulate my vote, but BR said no go.S~V~S wrote:I got switched Unfurl. I tried to switch it to MP.
Linki I meant other things, little things. I had a suspicion for days but when I found you had not chosen the team protect option that put me over the edge lol.
"Epic Challenge: You must be the last man standing in your team, once your Epic Challenge has been met you will become Independent. There can only be one! Last Man Standing. You will kill every night on top of your regular positions."
Once I was voted the leader, I already gained the ability to kill. And with the way our team was set up, it would have been much harder for me to win if I was alone as a SK LMS, especially since I would lose immunity.

I like how everybody followed my lead on that one. Linki: Good thing we didn't have to find outEven though I knew it probably meant you were baddie mcbadderson. After Turnip Head came out with the "reywaS is the Rogue Mercenary, let's get him!", I thought i was sunk.
This was a roller coaster game for me. I thought I would be recruited by night 5 when the game first started, and when I went after Golden that was totally genuine. When he got lynched, I knew that there was no way I was continue to survive by being as aggressive as I was. Then after day 5 when I got my epic challenge (which was to not take a single lynch vote between day 6 and 10), I knew the only chance I really had to complete it and survive was to go full DisPor and disappear into the background. On day 9 I think it was someone (nutella?) had a vote on me for a while and I thought for sure I was going to fail. Then she moved it thankfully.
Great game!

My epic challenge was to become the last man standing on my team, at which point I'd become a SK.Devin the Omniscient wrote:A few things before I forget:
As Brutal Executioner my epic challenge was to kill one of each role class: Guardian, Warrior, Sorcerer, Children.., and Brotherhood.
If I succeeded, I would have become completely independent.
I don't think this was answered yet: Who killed Typh? It was not me. The chaos dancer switched around a bunch of powers that night and someone else used my kill on him. I ended up with the keeper of the ravens' ability and wrote the "CHAOS" post. I didn't want to put a target on anyone that early, so my only goals with that post were to have fun, and to cause confusion and pointless discussion for a short time
Fun fact: I tried to kill MM on the same night he recruited meI successfully pegged him as a Warrior, so he would have died if he wasn't immune.
I don't know if the rest of the team would have won had that been the case.
