Re: Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
Second listen. Burn the Witch is still going individually strong on repeat on my phone - apparently I was "daydreaming" when I watched the single video and didn't think much about it, but right now the chorus hooks me alright. Daydreaming simply doesn't do it for me. As far as chronic sad songs go, I think it can go a lot better than this and I sort of don't buy it as much that Yorke should keep serenading me with them, almost two decades after these things actually sounded good; plus the droney bit (which prompts some to throwback at Kid A, I guess) sounds like boar snoring, frankly. Near "albumstopper" for me remains Ful Stop, to mirror Robot Mafia's (wait who) words, I've no idea what's going on, but I dig the build up and during the mid-piece climax, when some of the bass harmony subtly changes, I get actual goosebumps. Contrary to it not getting much love or even mentions, as far as I can tell so far, Desert Island Disk piques my interest, it has a blend of almost prog rock that then switches to a bit of jazzy chorus. I remember liking Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy..., but that's about it. There are a few tracks I actively don't like, either because they sound too heard-before easy mode (Decks Dark) or unpleasant effects (the reverb Yorke-on-Yorke voice mashup on Identikit). It just doesn't hold up in its entirety. I agree it's more open and musical than how much of a "distancing effect", artificial feel TKOL had, and it often tempts to idea of retro styles, retro moods, retro Radiohead.

Re: Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
I start when I listen to something from the premise that it's not very good and then hopefully that improves from there upwards.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:lol what's the point of projecting "meh" or any other reception before you even try
