Nice acknowledge writeup. Glad our delegate did the trick.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:
I also want to recognize someone who didn't win an award, but certainly could have. Turnip Head is an awesome all around player who represented The Syndicate admirably in the champs tournament this year (in a setup which was nothing remotely like what is often played here), and seeing him play was a big part of my desire to visit the site.

Told you it'd get real meta.Golden wrote:So Long Con designed a banner commemorating Long Con's win for designing a banner for a game that Long Con hostedMetalmarsh89 wrote:And the Best Game Banner goes to...

As Long Con designed this banner, this award goes to him. For those of you who don't know, Long Con and Spacedaisy design a large majority of our game banners here at the Syndicate, and have done a fantastic job in doing so. Long Con also designed the banners for this year's Sockys. I want to thank for for their contributions in this department, as well as anyone else who has done a game banner. Well done y'all.

I'd probably simply label pedantic pink as a new form of code. Not sure how this BNMeme award would work, but I'd likely nominate either "bullsuit" or "lunching" (the Donner version of lynching) for best of 2015.

Re: Socky Award Finalists [2015]
Funnily enough, I called you out in Guess Who for doing exactly the thing I sensed you did as Kami in warnup stages of Death Note. One of my best reads on someone ever. Your team then kindly replied by murdering me Night 1.Spacedaisy wrote:This post was very affirming and much appreciated. But sadly one great performance does not a best mafia make. My Guess Who performance I got my ass handed to me quite quickly. My team won, but I died like Day 1 or 2. But thank you Mikami.Ricochet wrote:

*Kami, I want you to know that I voted for you, but apparently people are forgetful of what textbook spotless mafia ass kicking looks like.

As I've said, I treated the alignment categories as specific, due to which, on the contrary, one performance to rule them all sounds just right in my book.
My nomination for Best Civilian is understandable if specific, but ridiculous if judged by the big picture. I'm 1-6 in games as civilian and my performances ranged from "omelette au fromage" to doing the civs a favor only for it to blow back in my face and crash my game into the ocean. Of lava.
So thus far, I received nominations from the players I burned or was antagonistic with in games. Neato.Dragon D. Luffy wrote:For all it's worth I nominated you for Watchmen (independent) and Golden for Economics and Guess Who (Mafia).Ricochet wrote:For which game the players were nominated. Oh... I voted for myself in Independent, to be honest. Sad as it may sound, Ozymandias and THM as solo efforts are still the most rewarding and joybringing things in my life over the past year. Jerk-like as it may sound, I didn't have a lot of indy performances in my mind to choose from. TH as Sidoh makes perfect sense, but on the other hand, I don't even recall playing with BR, LC or Metalmarsh as indies in 2015.

Re: Socky Award Finalists [2015]
I myself was specific in both scenarios. I judged Best "Civ/Mafia/Indy/nub" Performance with an emphasis on "performance" (singular), hence a player's shining moment in that certain alignment, not so much one's most consistent good results under that faction. I now understand both angles here, though.Golden wrote:Some people specified single games, others voted based on performance across multiple games, but those awards are for overall 2015 performance, so if one person was thinking of one game, and another person was thinking of another game, they all counted together towards one person. You can probably be assured that most nominees have been nominated based on more than just one performance, overall.Ricochet wrote:For which game the players were nominated. Oh... This is different from 'awards for a specific game' - eg role use, where the same person nominated for different roles didn't have their votes counted together.

Re: Socky Award Finalists 2016
A drawback for me personally, with Monopoly and Eno being included, is that I hadn't joined back then. The earliest games I spectated were Cars and GoC '14. Of course, that can be true for some even more recent members as well, who might not have the bigger picture of all the games throughout this interval, but since I statistically stayed active throughout the entire 2015, I must sadly note I never had those two games in my memory to assess.
Truth be told, I hardly really assessed any of my choices. The more spontaneous I wrote them down for submission, the more genuine it felt that those were really the highlights for me. At least that's how I went with it.
