(In all seriousness though. Charlemagne's son was given the name Martel. This was not a completely uncommon surname - it meant 'Hammer' and was sometimes given to great warriors. This is where I get slightly hazy on my facts, because I learned this a long time ago, but I think at some point one of his descendants became monarch of England, and anglicised the surname to 'martell'. All Martell's with two L's come directly from this line.)
