I hate that my five-year-old daughter broke her arm.

I love seeing how resilient and adaptable she is with it only a three days in to wearing a cast.

I loved taking my girls to the park to ride their bikes today.

I hate that I forgot to wear a hat while at the park and while mowing, because now I have a tan line where my hearing protection was while mowing but the rest of my head is burnt.

Love: watching my 6-year-old summon the will and determination to learn how to roller skate almost entirely on her own at a friend’s birthday party yesterday.

Love: that I only fell once while skating yesterday after not having done it for 10 years.

Hate: the half-dollar-sized bruise on my butt that’s haunting me today from that lone spill.

Love: the stability and lifestyle my job provides

Hate: my job

Love: watching my youngest get her first taste of walking through the grocery store with me instead of riding in the cart.

Hate: the fact that I was at the office long enough today to feel compelled to switch my email greeting from ‘good afternoon’ to ‘good evening.’
