Gryffindor actually won for a pretty silly reason this time.

Unfortunately I can't change the rules at this point.

And the winner last night's House Cup is... Gryffindor!

Peacetime is Over

The school seemed to be having a truce now. For a while, kills had just stopped. Was INH the last bad guy? Or did the remaining ones give up and stop acting so they would be spared? For three weeks, the group of students who were investigating the killings had many interesting debates, but ultimately, they reached no conclusion. But as time passed, they got more relaxed, and started hoping the bloodshed was finally over.

But the truth is that the forces of evil were just biding their time. Regrouping and making new plans, so they could strike back at full force.

And full force it was, when one morning, the bodies of two of the most respected student leaders were found in the middle of the Great Hall when the student body arrived there to have breakfast.

The war had resumed.

(To answer your question, I have no idea. There are 14 regular abilities in the game, and each person has two. If DDL randomly assigned the mafia stuff, I'd say yes, it's very possible two would have patronus. But if he distributed abilities evenly, INH would have the only one)
I dunno. If he didn't summon a patronus though, that means he targeted Long Con with something else. That would seem to be an important detail, yeah? What does a mafia Quin do to a mafia Long Con if not that?

That is a good point. Could be a secret dark arts ability, could be another patronus but it is not likely to be I suppose.

Dragon D. Luffy Were mafia roles assigned randomly as well as Hogwarts abilities, or did you have a hand in manually balancing it?

I can say both things had a component of randomness and a component of myself controlling it to make sure the setup is balanced.

The previous subject was a lot scarier. It was Consumer Law. I just did the exam for it and I feel like I was right about everything while also being wrong about everything.

Alright folks, as I mentioned before, I'll be busy all weekend. Since I don't want to half-ass the proccessing of this game, I'll just put it on hiatus until I'm back from the MBA. This night phase will last 3 days in real life.

I need to make a clear deadline for abilities, so here it goes: Night actions will be accepted for the next 60 hours after this post. That's 2.5 days. The next day phase will begin later at sunday evening, around the time they usually do.

I went over the kills in the last night about 5 times since you guys started arguing. It still checks out.

So guys I'll make a longer announcement later but the next night phase will be 3 days long since I'll have MBA classes and won't be able to host stuff during the weekend.

It may be annoying for some but maybe it helps others catch-up so there is that

Expecto Patronum when used by guilty students doesn't stop super-kills. The things that stop super-kills are explicitely described as such.

Technically this could be interpreteted from reading BES but whatever.

Chaos in the Great Hall

The mood in Hogwarts was heavy. Everyone suspected one another. Every other day, someone would yell serious accusations at a classmate.

This powder keg blew up one day during dinner at the Great Hall. One student screamed "Why don't we just expel all of Slytherin? It's obvious they are the ones doing it. It's always Slytherin!"

A student from Slytherin got up, angry and fired a spell on his aggressor.

It was a terrible mistake. Before the teachers could say anything, spells were flying everywhere. Students were shooting the best they got at each other, showing off their dueling skills, releasing dangerous pets, and drinking their potions.

- Stop in this instant! - yelled Professor Dunya.

The students slowly stopped attacking. But before the aggression ended, the hall was covered in green light.

Nobody knew who had shot them. And it was too late.

Meanwhile, near forbidden forest, a phoenix cries over a tomb. To heal wounds that cannot be healed. A nearby kid is watching, and another kid arrives at the scene and screams.

- Wait, what are you doing? You can't bring HIM back!

Too late.

Epignosis (Hogwarts Student) and Long Con (New Death Eater) were killed during the night.

Folks, I have a warning to make.

I have noticed some people are threatening to quit the site if they are voted for.

While this is not explicitely against this game's rules, it goes completely against the spirit of the game. It's similar to making real life bets on the game's outcome, or posting screenshots of your role card.

Do not bring real life into a mafia game. Ever. Doing so breaks the fictional scenario that is built by the game, and which allows people to see each others as innocent or bad. If you intend to quit the site depending on the game's outcome, that's only your business, and nobody else's.

I will not punish anyone for this now because it's not stated in the rules, but compensation will be done into the game's setup to counteract the effect of this. Furthermore, if it happens again, I will modkill the people who are doing it.

FInally, if something is happening in the game that makes you have bad feelings about the site and about other players, you should really contact [mention]dunya[/mention] , our game facilitator, about it. She is here exactly to keep your real life grief from getting the best of you and affecting yours and other people's enjoyment of the game.

This scenario is why I added that patch to prevent consecutive wins yesterday.

That said by the time we get there chances are House Cups will not be happening anymore.

Alright folks, I've decided I got to patch the House Cup.

From now on, no Houses can win the Cup two consecutive days. This starts having effect right now, so Gryffindor is out of today's cup.

This is because I think the current system allows for a snowball effect a little more than I had predicted. Like, killing/lynching inactives actually helps the house. And I want everyone to have a shot at buying those items.

Also an addendum: if you get the "Use all of your 3 abilities" bonus in the day your house is not allowed to win, the bonus will be transferred to the next day's cup.

The Confident Kid

The students realized they would never save their school if they tried to do it in low numbers. They had to team up. So they held a meeting in the Room of Requirement. Kids from all houses came, wanting to help find who was killing their colleagues.

They took turns doing speeches. Some talked more than others, but everyone wanted to contribute.

There was a kid who was a bit different, though. He didn't talk too much, but whenever he did, he made very strong and confident remarks. He pointed at people in that same room and said "I am confident he is one of the culprits".

Something about his attitude pissed the other kids off. Who did he think he was? What evidence did he have to his bold claims?

The next time he did that, one of the other students yelled: "ENOUGH! You are not helping, you are just spying on us. You are one of the New Death Eaters!"

He tried to defend himself, but the mob couldn't be contained. They all started firing spells on him.

Added a paragraph to the FAQ involving potion mechanics that explains some interactions.

- Potion usage is not affected by roleblocks/delays (except by [Petrificus Totalus]). That said, if a player is trying to combo an ability with [Felix Felicis] or [Invigoration Draught] and that ability is blocked, the potion won't be consumed. If delayed, the potion will be delayed with it.

Murder in the Astronomy Tower

While some students were wasting their time on Turnip Head, Speedchuck had a better lead. He had been suspecting another kid for a long time.

So one night, he trailed novaselinenever and followed him to the Astronomy Tower, where he was probably up to no good.

But upon getting there, speedchuck found the last thing he expected. Novaselinenever, dead.

"Was I wrong about him?", he thought. But then he looked at the body and saw a green light. The Dark Mark, shining on his wrist. No, he was right. Novaselinenever was one of the criminals. But then... who?

He finished checking the body, and turned back. He had to tell the teachers about it. But when he looked back, another person was at the door. They attacked speedchuck before he could do anything.

The next day, two bodies were found at the Astronomy Tower.

speedchuck (Hogwarts Student) and novaselinenever (New Death Eater) were killed during the night.

The Potion Maker

A group of students decided to band together to investigate what had happened. Nutella, Soneji, Mac, Long Con, Jay and DharmaHelper. They went around, questioning other students to learn who could be involved in the murder that had happened near the Gryffindor Tower.

After a lot of investigations, they came up with a lead. Apparently, some turnips were found near the body. That could only mean one thing: DDL had been poisoned with some magical potion that used turnips! And there was only one student who was skilled enough at potion brewing to do that. And he was from Gryffindor, to boot! Never mind that DDL had been killed outside the Gryffindor Tower, not inside, so technically any student had access to that corridor. But the six kids were angry, and they decided they had enough evidence to pursue the culprit.

They approached the suspect, surrounded him, and accused him. He denied everything, so they all aimed their Stupefy spells at him and knocked him down. But maybe that was too much, and being hit by six stunning spells at once ended up being fatal.

Alas, they found no evidence that he was the culprit. In fact, he was carrying a vial of love potion, which suggested he was only trying to find some love.

Turnip Head (Hogwarts Student) was lynched.
