Re: Pirate Mafia [DAY 1]
I usually try to use town/mafia in Naruto Forums, and civ/baddie here, to stay true with site flavor.

Re: Pirate Mafia [DAY 1]
I love how the tracker is one-shot and the watcher isn't even though the watcher is the most powerful role in the entire matrix.

Ok so you can pick a row OR a column? I get it now.Quin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2017 7:52 amIf I remember right, it's based off of the sock games that MP hosts. The most recent one was Seinfeld.Dragon D. Luffy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2017 6:45 am Btw, can anyone explain me the matrix format of the roles that is in the first post? The host picked a random row? Or a random column?
I tried to look for that mafia champions scrimmage we had since I recall it using a similar system but I couldn't find it anywhere in the museum.
All of the numbers and letters refer to a set of 3 power roles and x number of vanilla civilians (x being however many people are leftover after giving out power roles - in this case, 9). The roles that are in this game are decided ?randomly? between A, B, C, D, 1, 2, 3 and 4. For example, in this game with 12 players, if Sloonei is using the '3' roster, the power roles in this game are a 1-shot ninja, a town watcher, a town jailkeeper, and 9 vanilla civilians.
As an aside, if we get a power role flip, we can use PoE to figure out what the rest of the power roles are. This'll be easier depending on whether all roles flip or not though.

Re: Pirate Mafia [DAY 1]
I won't say I necessarily agree or disagree with it but I certainly don't like you asking the cop to claim.sig wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2017 12:10 am I know it sounds silly, but you seem to townie at the moment. Kind of like how you acted in Scrimmage mafia.
So I'm of two mind with Speed, one his post that LC pointed out was a fillerish post, however he posted it very early and was stating his view on no lynches so it was useful insight. So it could have just been a mafia member posting to look involved, but it felt like he was genuine in trying to state his view. In fact after thinking it over this makes me more suspicious of LC, I feel like he could be fishing for potential bandwagons. However, it usually takes me a few phases to get a good read on LC. Maybe by night 2 or 3 I'll have a better feeling.
Right now I'd rather lynch a player who isn't contributing then someone who is, unless we have a strong reason to suspect they're mafia, and I'm not seeing anything very obvious yet.
Also and I should've brought this up sooner, but If we have a cop and they get a red check I suggest they role claim immediately, with only 3 mafia members sacrificing the cop to get a mafia member is worth it, also other civs should take advantage of role claiming if they have useful information that will catch mafia members, AND I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH AS A CIV DONT FAKE CLAIM COP!!!!!!!!!!
@Long Con What do you think of me? And can you go a bit more in-depth on your Scum reading for Speedchuck?

Re: Pirate Mafia [DAY 1]
This is a long post but I noticed it's missing some baddie reads. Do you have any?MovingPictures07 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2017 11:45 pmHey bud!
I also felt my previous response to your request for people to evaluate self-meta was weak, so I’m going to do that a bit to address your request better and because I feel it is relevant.
I’m generally much more cautious at the start and only comfortable with developing town reads this early, and despite some poking I still feel that is the case so far. I prefer to work in POE and poke at whatever I find questionable, then if the poked player’s response doesn’t compute or seem sincere, then I have a tendency to go into hardcore MP mode and I try to avoid tunneling and dogpee mode but inevitably it always happens lol.
Regarding my reads, I’m feeling town on sig and you because I feel at various points your lines of questioning and statements have been indicative of a genuine town perspective. Not sure about anyone else yet.
What are your reads so far?

Quoting a bunch of posts and replying to them is different from making a long analysis of game mechanics.

Re: Pirate Mafia [DAY 1]
Sorry, but I've seen this trick one million times. It's a Syndicate classic. You do something that is obviously stupid so you can gather reactions. Folks like Marmot mastered this art ages ago.
Besides I'm not even sure if you're town, I think it would be easy if you were scum to do the same thing to look like town. It's not like the thread is likely to stay silent if you don't save it from inactivity. Someone else would.

dunya something about you gives me the feeling you are very on the fence about no lynches. If you are against them, why did you ask me?

Re: Pirate Mafia [DAY 1]
Because the only thing that happens is that you give mafia an extra night kill, and then you are back next day with no extra information and one less civ alive.
It may give the cop an extra investigation yes, but the cop shouldn't reveal right away anyway so day 2 usually doesn't have anything new, and the cop could die before they reveal so the risk may be not worth it.

I'd wager he is doing it just to gather reactions or something.MovingPictures07 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2017 3:18 pmVoting NO LYNCH at this time puts the townies into a strategic disadvantage. Explain, pirate LC.
