Y'all tell me who you want me to kill next night phase, and then tell me if you think it's worth using that kill if it roleblocks and level-blocks every other civilian.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]
It probably would be a better look for me, agreed. I can't be concerned with that though. We have a finite number of lynches to eliminate a set number of mafia members, and that means the last vote I place is of crucial importance to my ability to contribute to a civilian win. Placing that last vote in the right place is my only concern. Everyone else can tell me I am the scummiest man on Earth if they feel like it.MacDougall wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 2:51 am No but it is a sight better look for you when you try to lynch a player who you've been trying to lynch rather than a player you have made a passing comment on.
Looking sharp and snazzy as a bad guy is so easy. Civilians suspect the same things in every damned game. Don't do them and you're golden. In this game I don't care about that.
![l'il shrug :shrug2:](./images/smilies/shrug.gif)
Maybe I am losing my marbles. I shouldn't have signed up for this game. It's no slight on Jack or on the other players here. I have just had my fill of Mafia in recent memory, and when I get burnt out -- living up to The JJJ Standard is the absolute worst nuisance. It's not even about appearances. It's about giving my civilian teammates the best I can give them even if it kills me.MacDougall wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 2:51 amAre you okay btw? You sound like you are starting to lose your marbles.

Like I said earlier: the people in this game who have said suspicious things have also said good things. I don't have a conclusive, entirely negative this player is awful read to offer you. If I did, I've have lynched that person. In the absence of such a convenience, I opted for the player who is having a much harder time integrating into this busy game than she did in the previous busy game as a civilian.MacDougall wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 2:35 amWhat about your other candidates? You surely had done more groundwork on others. I am struggling to understand why you chose her of all people.
I don't think "groundwork" is meaningful on its own power. It can motivate other voters to support a lynch. It can explain a suspicion. It doesn't make a player more suspicious simply for existing. I might even go more out there with my ever-developing Mafia theory: cases are overrated. At least at this point in the game.

I didn't case Quin at length. When I dug into his posts my suspicion of him decreased. The core "he isn't doing anything" accusation wasn't entirely accurate.MacDougall wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 2:24 am Jimmy given you tried to push last minute cfd I am confused as to why you chose lap and not quin or any of the other players you've cased at length and found suspect.
One doesn't build a "case" against lapluie -- it boils down to a single meta judgment. She can be as suspicious as anyone for whom a case was built.
I don't know if she is mafia, but if she is I am going to belly laugh while a bunch of people feel dumb.

Unless someone is a glaring, awful look, I am not inclined to lynch an active player if I can see any civilian light when there's a less active player (especially in a busy-ass game where I'd expect mafia to fall behind more than civilians) who can be lynched instead. Is it easy? Sure. Is it safe? Sure. Is it a valid philosophy which I have lived by in many civilian games throughout my long Mafia life? Yeah.
We are not at Day 1. You keep saying that. We're at Day 2 and every civilian in this game got the chance to use a power. Every single one. I made sure that happened.
So you can talk about how there's no objective information if you want to. Every civilian got a shot.
That you should call this Day 1 Part 2 is bogus. It's Day 2. Mafia killed. Civilians got their actions in.
You are so bad.
I'm a civilian, and if you are too there will come a time soon when you realize that you don't know me like you think you do.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]
I got close to nothing out of it. It wasn't my thing. If it had been my thing and something I was personally invested in overseeing, I may have prodded specific people about their specific reads as they pertained to their don choices -- similar to the general question you asked, but pointed at specific names, incessantly, and constantly. I don't think the relationship need exist that you imply (I think you imply?), but it's a question which can still produce interesting answers.
As you portrayed it, whether you intended it or not, the result was a waning of the trust enjoyed by dunya and I, and essentially no effect to people who had civilian reads on us. If the latter are the point of contention, then the former shouldn't have become the focus of the discussion.
To be frank, I think the value of the exercise was best seen during it, and the "results" were about as meaningful as gun-to-head reads exercise results would be on Day 0.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]
I'll build a basic case on Epignosis:
His exercise had potential, but in the end was not used to its potential. The primary message still ended up surrounding the players who were named the most frequently. This is meaningless given the conditions of the choices are very different for X civilian responding to Epignosis in the game thread and Y mafia don responding to Jack behind the scenes. His own picks were fake. dunya said hers probably weren't representative of what she'd really do. I doubt my picks are either. With more time to think about it -- clearly as would be possible and prudent in the real scenario -- the choices are more strategic and nuanced. I suspect this applies to numerous civilians.
The don, whoever it is, could have chosen literally anyone. There's no good reason to clear people based on this premise, and there's no good reason to suspect people based on this premise. He didn't follow up much at all on the angle that had potential -- demanding reasons for civilians on drafted players from the drafters.
His role ability was to prevent a lynch. I believe this. He said himself that he thought he was threatened and used it early given that he might not have time to use it later. This leaves room for him to have saved himself, at least by intention, as a mafioso. The civilian possibility is as real as the mafia possibility, but it's a bad reason to give him credit.
He is now shitting in my Corn Flakes for going after "easy targets" all the while casting suspicion upon the guy who says whatever the hell he wants in every post. RDW makes himself an easy target by design, and it wouldn't be the first time I've seen a mafioso try to capitalize on that. It was a common mistake in RYM games. Anyone who wants to cast suspicion on RDW wouldn't struggle to find ways of doing so in his posts, because his posts are all over the place. They are always all over the place.

[mention]MacDougall[/mention], what concern do you have if any about the likelihood that X Don would draft Dr. White given that he is the least-known commodity in the game?

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]
You may have described there the nature of my turn on White. I had to restrain myself from hurling nasty, unwarranted insults just minutes ago at people who do not deserve them as a direct result of being subjected to accusations that I think are stupid. I am a civilian, and that would never happen to me if I am being subject to accusations correctly. Maybe White is the type to do that either way. I don't know how he plays. Maybe [mention]Dragon D. Luffy[/mention] can provide insight on that front. In my experience though, when it gets personal, it's nearly always civilian.MacDougall wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 12:16 am Your bloody case mostly. His reaction reads bad to me. Gold civ medal to you.
That being said I have felt like every lynch candidate so far has been a good one. But after Luffy had a mass sook at me and now White at you and you at Eli I am just not enjoying this at all.
I'm sorry to have contributed to your loss of fun. Truly. I have not been a gracious player in this game and I need to find a way to calm my shit down. I don't know why I'm so on edge, but I am.

What convinced you that Dr. White should be the lynch?

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]
Understandable. I'm just saying that I've seen mafioso asshole and I've seen civilian asshole. I've been both. I think there's usually a difference. Sincerity brings out the darkness.MacDougall wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 12:08 amI don't accept this at all. I am not going to support the notion that being an asshole prevents you from being lynched.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 12:03 am Dr. White's schoolyard insults and his attempts to leave a legacy are civilian-indicative. I suggest votes start moving.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]
I need to calm down again. I am sorry for getting irritable in this game, y'all. I am extremely burnt out, and dealing with erroneous Mafia accusations while burnt out is one of the most annoying things in the world. I encourage you to hurl your accusations if you feel they are warranted. After this game I'm taking a long break.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 1]
I hope it's clear that when I told you to die, I was referring a lynch in a Mafia game. I don't know you personally and wouldn't wish you ill.Dr. White wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 12:04 amWhy? You haven't explained how I went from a hard oragne to a civilian in your head yet, nor did you explain your current vote. Yet I'm supposed to be a mind reader and the one being vague?JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 12:00 amBecause I think you're a civilian. I don't give a shit about any mess or your pitiful insults. I give a shit about where my vote is when the deadline arrives.
Topkek at your high horse'ing when you got wayy more emotional earlier and told me to die.
I think RDW has been saying a lot of nonsense on this page particularly as it pertains to MacDougall. Epignosis raised valid concerns, one of which caught my attention especially.
The moment your insults devolved to the "middle school learning" caliber, I lost faith in my mafia read on you. I just don't know many players who resort to that kind of shit unless they are frustrated civilians.

I give absolutely zero fucks about your read. Take it, crumple it up, and throw it in the trash. It's shit. It's no good. Pull out a fresh sheet of paper and try again.Epignosis wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 12:02 amI don't know. I think you're bad and gunning for easy an lynch. Dr. White has hardly been here, and you're lynching him out of 20+ people?
Nah.
