Depends on if they are scum with you or your town and they are just parroting you because of your status here. Not sure why "interesting" in the post context would be confusing to anyone who has passed middle school tbf.

colonialbob wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2018 10:22 pm @ColinIsCool the only thing I don't get is why you brought the nightkill into it when we were barely halfway into the day phase?
I straight up don't understand this question any time anybody's asked it. Because the things you do in the day phase affect how the mafia perceives you and if you get nightkilled on day 1, you don't live to day 2, and you can't contribute useful information/win the game? Is there a difference in fundamental game mechanics between this site and everywhere else in the universe Mafia is played that I'm not getting?
Because he still has ~24 hours to talk about why he asked his question and what he felt like he learned. He doesn't want to do so before everybody has responded because that skews what responses he gets.

Obviously ridiculous example: "please everybody name your favorite animal"
*answers by some but not all*
"Hey Epi why did you ask this?"
"Well see anybody who mentions a predator is scientifically proven to be mafia"
*remaining players all name fuzzy herbivores*

Did those last players respond honestly or because they knew what he waa looking for?
CBob on Colin:
Both of the CBob posts here are kind of outrageous. The first one comes out of nowhere and is not as far as I can tell directly related to anything in the thread. It rehashes an old argument from hours ago that got some swing the first time.
Where Colin's response is directly an answer to the question posed by CBob, CBob's counter response is not about that response at all. It goes back to the "Colin not answering Epi" thing, another argument already dissected in thread.
CBob switches off his vote half an hour later.
I don't agree with your interpretation. Thread of the dialogue:

~ colonialbob asks Colin why he was concerned about night kill dynamics re: Epi in the middle of the day phase.
~ Colin responds with incredulity and discusses the longer-term potential of day phase chatter to motivate night phase decisions of the mafia team.
~ colonialbob retorts that Epi still had half the day phase in front of him to do his thing with his exercise, relating to the core question about why Colin didn't Epi that time before raising his gripe about night kills. colonialbob draws an analogy to describe why Epi might not want to reveal his hand.

What's the problem in this thread?

She's a suspect by pure meta. Her first game ever on the site was the fast-paced Mortal Kombat, and she hit the ground running. She wasn't afraid of the new environment and involved herself frequently in dialogues all over the thread. This time, even when acknowledging that her time is more restricted by wi-fi issues I believe she mentioned somewhere, her appearances in the thread have been considerably less inspired (hi Quin). She doesn't look comfortable.

Dr. White wrote: Sun Feb 11, 2018 8:44 pm I too do not like how Mac tried to make a quicklist of reads based on pretty much intuition alone. Even if on vacation, why posit that as contribution? Seems like he was trying to feign activity. The split between him and colonial is very interesting.

I however found JJJ "strong town reading" Colonial interesting, since it was solely on the grounds of him listing his own reads. Mafia can easily do that as well as to not appear like they are parroting . That is a very interesting link given the colonial-Mac dynamic.

Nutella jumped on Mac pretty early. Not sure if it was a pressure vote, but it really put me off towards them.

Not sure how DDL plays here. He seems more passive and backing down a bit, I will keep a watch on him for sure. Anyone who wants to give me his meta summary feel free.

Other person of note was dunya. Pretty much just need more time to see if she's genuinely town leading, or "the string pulling" mafioso that was mentioned earlier.

I think people ignored the problems with this post because I chose to highlight it with the "interestings" found in it for meme value. Let's try instead focusing on the quality of the content.

Green: he implied that Mac's provisions of intuited reads don't even qualify as a contribution. That's bullshit. He can question their sincerity, but to say they are nothing is a ridiculous smear. It also came on the heels of colonialbob's anti-Mac stance, so there's room for opportunism.

Red: Dr. White observes my town read on colonialbob and then proceeds to make vague assertions about how interesting it is. I don't know what this actually means. This became a problem later.

Cyan: This just looks fake to me. He was really put off by a vote which may have been, by his own admission, a pressure vote. Meh.

Yellow: Neither of these comments amounts to anything.

Dr. White wrote: Sun Feb 11, 2018 9:06 pm Did I peg you right already so you go for the linguistic call out? So sad.

He bit hard on that "interesting" bait with this response. He implies here that he was reading me as a mafioso (but again doesn't actually say it), and that "pegging me right" incited my linguistic poke. He didn't peg me as anything. He called me interesting. He said vague things. Refer again to the red-colored content in the prior post.

Dr. White wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2018 8:40 pm Overall I'd be most comfortable with a Mac, LC, or Running lynch. If we wanna go big fish hunting then it's JJJ. JJJ responded quite weird to me when I mentioned him backing colonial up so strong that early as interesting. He's kept quite a strong tone towards me since than, and hasn't really explained why he's made two post since then (a vote in the subsequent one) sussing me. I'd like to know why I am one of his biggest suspects and he feels so strongly about my lynch.
To put it most succinctly:

You keep dancing around "JJJ and colonialbob are mafia teammates" without just saying it. It smells like a desire to manipulate a negative climate without committing to an actual read. To stick me alongside bob is too easy and I am not convinced you really believe that.
This is a real shallow and forced conclusion. I am noting something that is sus. I am not "dancing around saying you two are scum mates" because that isn't the only conclusion one can come to. Yes, you could be scum mates, or you can be going for town cred by latching on to a townie and giving him good marks. So yes it is contributing to my sus of you, but in no way entails I have to 100% subscribe to both of you being scummates.

Dr. White clarified his vagueness here. It was difficult for me to get this clarification out of him. It covers the full gamut of "JJJ and colonialbob being interesting" and amounts to general suspicion. I complained about the lack of clarity and as such our argument exploded:

"That is clear and utter bullshit JJJ and you know it -- This is where Dr. White starts insisting that his initial meaning should have been obvious, and that my failure to acknowledge that is suspicious. This again refers to the red-colored statement in the first post I've provided here. That shit is not obvious in any universe, and that he so forcibly pushed that crap on me looks like Caught for the Wrong Reasons. He hates being suspected for the reason I provided and pushed back hard, but in doing so only managed to spew a bunch of nonsense. I hate it. It got worse.

He continued to double-down on the notion that what he said had an obvious meaning -- No. Absolutely not. I don't think he could have responded much worse to my accusations.

A number of people encountered two people screaming at each other, rolled their eyes, assumed civ-civ, and ignored it. It wasn't until more recently that I was able to get people to look more closely to get my points across.

The separate notion of his handling of the draft specifically pertaining to Marmot and Iron_Dwarf doesn't mean a whole lot to me, because that's highly speculative and mechanistic. I don't think that can be reliably utilized. Maybe you'll disagree. I think he looks bad anyway.

TonyStarkPrime wrote: Fri Feb 16, 2018 7:07 pm My opinion on CBob is that he’s done a lot of set up, where he took some posts and gave the argument for why the posts were scummy without saying so. Someone else can pick up the argument later and he doesn’t have to try and carry it. Also an easy way for mafia to create the appearance of majority support without having to commit that many members to a cause.
Overall day 1 he notably pressured RDW, Colin, and Quin in this way, but RDW was saying crazy things and deserved it. Colin and Quin both were pushed as feasible Day 1 lynches but Cbob ended up on Rabbit even though his arguments against the two carried on and almost led to lynch.
Would you be able to point to the specific posts about Colin and Quin which give you this impression?

Colin Quinn is an unfunny relic of Saturday Night Live.

I'm irked that Dr. White addressed the point I care the least about (Marmot/Dwarf and DraftGate) and bailed. Let's kill him. I'll start.

I have very little read on Kites. Let's take a look.

Can you clarify exactly which thoughts you had which were identical to Kenway's?
i thought scum team recruit would happen during drafting, not before it

Kites stood for Kenway in the dialogue about the latter's assumption that drafting would occur during the drafting process. The assumption about the draft means little to me, because the mafia team literally might not have realized that until they were informed of their selections. The clear, positive stance taken on Kenway is more important though and is noted.

good night

I'm not sure what importance gender has if anything. The question isn't likely to produce much of interest.

dunya: i don’t want to play against her, no no :faint: + it’d be super fun :D
gwilikers6: cos he is a good bloke

and 2 other, all of non rym players are unknown to me so just randomly like marmot and dr. white

The comment about Wilgy is an observation but not a read. I like reads more. I'll also note that the purported randomly selected teammates for the Don Kites are given specific examples. Those two are more random than others?

JJJ is the likeliest candidate but putting him and Dunya on a scum team is probably predictable, so I'll choose MacDougall instead. I don't know why but I always want to be on his good side. Also, I've been scum with him before, so there's that.
This post is so scummy you've gotta be town.
what do you mean by this? it was obviously an answer to epignosis’ question.

speaking of epignosis, he’s the most suspicious person imo. i don’t know if this ”who would your mafia mates be” survey is a common thing on this site but i don’t remember people doing it in rym games. it doesn’t give any useful information, cos the answer is so easy to fake it might actually help scum mislead people i dunno

i think he’s just tryna make a false impression he’s contributing sth valuable to the game

VOTE EPIGNOSIS

I kind of love this. While a newcomer like Kites may not entirely realize that poking Epignosis is a dangerous game for a bad guy, by this point I do think some of the Epi character had shown itself in the thread. The exercise definitely had, and Kites was clearly not afraid of that shit. He went after it. I don't agree with his argument, but I don't care. When I consider the player and the delivery, it looks good to me.

This is another instance of argument I don't agree with, but a conveyance of the argument that I like. Unles there's a mafia teammate among the two Kites named, there's no great motive for him to stand in the defense of players who have done nothing. When you start tacking on "unless", you've inherently reduced the probability of the outcome in question.

Kites wrote: Wed Feb 14, 2018 1:10 am i voted for you because you’ve done almost no effort reading people, everything you do is revolving around compiling and analysing the stats rather than giving personal opinions which isn’t really any harder for mafia to pull off

anyways this is nice and interesting indeed but i don’t think you should call anyone a civ based on not getting votes. i knew my name wouldn’t be mentioned because i’m literally the least familiar person to everyone here and that the top spot is a popularity contest, no doubt dunya and jjj would be up there

It's also nice that despite his reservations about Epi's exercise, Kites was willing to credit it when it was turned into a product. He acknowledged it, stated his perspective relative to the conclusions Epi drew, and didn't rail against it unreasonably.

He isn't afraid to go against the grain with his rainbow list, at least with some players (Epignosis and colonialbob stand out on the bottom end. Dr. White stands out on the top. Tell me about that read please, Kites, before my twitching eyeball twitches itself out of its socket. :meany:

~~~
Conclusion
I think Kites looks pretty good. It isn't immediately apparent without doing this ISO work, because his posts tend to be concise. He isn't blending though. I'd give him a sweet lime green skittle.
