Re: 2016 Socky Awards
I'm glad we can see past wins and losses with individual awards like that one. Wins are obviously the ultimate objective, but they're a team effort no matter what one's alignment.

Re: 2016 Socky Awards
Three of us are ineligible now. We can be on the judgment panel though.
It's a growing talent pool 'round here. There are a bunch of others who could just as easily be finalists.

Re: 2016 Socky Awards
Congrats again to all the winners and also the finalists. Many of these were difficult votes, and that's because there are a bunch of great players and personalities around here. If you play Mafia with us, you're swell in my book.
Thanks for presenting the awards with such creativity, G-Man. It was a great idea and you saw it through beautifully. Also thanks to the rest of the Sockys crew for helping him out when I had to leave by surprise.

Re: 2016 Socky Awards
I think in terms of the theme feeling immersive to the point that it felt like more than just a game of Mafia, BG was the premier choice. Well done, Golden. After the game I blasted through all four seasons of the reboot series pretty quickly.

Thanks everyone. Sloonei and Golden are also obviously fantastic civilians, and if any bad guys would let Epignosis stay alive for once he'd be right there too.

Mad Max was probably the game of the year IMO (it went into overtime!), so that's no surprise. I'm glad Transistor is also being recognized too. It wasn't as loud and chaotic as some other games, but it was intricate and highly strategic.

Re: 2016 Socky Awards
A little campaigning for a team that I think might otherwise be overlooked:
We hosted the Mafia Championship Scrimmage game here, and a number of highly skilled players came to our site to play. Most of them were participants in the Mafia Universe tournament which Golden and Sloonei performed so well in. These were a pile of excellent players and they were all motivated to show what they could do in a competitive environment before the tournament. All but one of them were civilians.
The mafia team kicked their ass. MovingPictures07, sig, ika, and Inawordyes played lights out baddie ball.

Re: 2016 Socky Awards
Voting guidelines:
~ You are eligible to vote in these Socky awards if you played in or hosted at least one of the eligible games listed in the first post.
~ You may place TWO votes in each category, though it is not required. There will still only be one winner named, but this allows for more players to be recognized.
~ All votes must be sent privately to the Sockys2016 account to be counted. Link
~ You are not required to vote in every category.
~ Voting will be open for about one week, with a deadline set on Saturday the 4th of March at 11:59:59 PM eastern standard time (US). You may start voting immediately.
~ You are allowed to discuss your votes in this thread or campaign if you so desire. Remember though that some element of surprise makes this more fun.
~ Any questions you have should be directed to myself, juliets, Marmot, G-Man, Golden, or Long Con.
We're excited to bring the Socky Awards back this year and hope to see a lot of participation. Thanks everyone and have fun with it.

Annual Socky Awards - 2016
As we approach the month of March, progressing through our Game of Champions and deep into 2017, it's about that time to decide who will be taking away the coveted Socky Awards for the 2016 Mafia year on The Syndicate.
