I am inclined to disagree with the other friendly bear here. While I subscribe to determinism as the driving mechanism underlying human decision making (eliminating free will), I do not necessarily believe the natural universe is itself deterministic. Quantum mechanics has long implied the possibility of true randomness and true uncertainty. If it is to be believed, and I cannot justify refuting it, then our fate is not "pre-determined". We still have no control over it though.
