Re: PSY 2310 - Cognitive Psychology
I would anticipate role cards will be out within the next 5 hours or so. Game still begins at 6pm EDT tomorrow.
The setup doesn't yet describe night phase learning "prizes". Expect them to be generally small scale to avoid introducing mass swing.

Re: PSY 2310 - Cognitive Psychology
Yep, 17's the cap.
I appreciate your enthusiasm everyone. Folks are still welcome to check the replacement box if you'd like or to spectate, and this thread will remain open until at least Sunday before I lock up shop and prepare the game.

Re: PSY 2310 - Cognitive Psychology
I'll just declare now that an independent/third-party role will not exist in this game.

Re: PSY 2310 - Cognitive Psychology
My usual approach to hosting such a game is to never lift the post cap (so it really is a "light" game for everyone with busy lives). I will be open to hearing folks out for contrary preferences. This is a list with plenty of culture overlap.

Re: PSY 2310 - Cognitive Psychology
Oh shit. Cool beans.
I would be fine starting sooner than anticipated if it doesn't present massive issues for our folks. How about Monday the 24th at 6:00 PM EDT?

Re: PSY 2310 - Cognitive Psychology
Ideally I'd like to get to at least 13 players for this guy. If we can get there and sign-ups aren't still cooking, then I'll look to get us going soon thereafter (within the next two weeks as a long estimate).

Re: PSY 2310 - Cognitive Psychology
There is no huge rush to run this game. There are already numerous options further along. I'll decide if it goes soon based upon demand.

PSY 2310 - Cognitive Psychology
- This is a light game dedicated to the study of the human mind.
- Any number of students are eligible for asynchronous remote course delivery.
- Daily essays may not exceed 100 posts. I may relieve this length requirement near the due date.
Office hours
I will be available at all times throughout the duration of the course to receive private questions pertaining to the course. I will usually respond in less than 24 hours.
Course prerequisites
- Must be a registered member of The Syndicate
- Must be signed on for the course before registration deadline has passed
Academic integrity
By registering for this course you agree to engage in no plagiarism, cheating, or angleshooting. Any students in violation will be referred to the appropriate university judiciary.
Refer to the course syllabus for details pertaining to grading, exams, assignments, and scheduling.
Syllabus will be posted soon. Anticipate a low-complexity environment with the occasional in-class exercise for extra credit. Course structure is highly fluid with respect to the number of students, but the course will always cap at 17.
Actual setup information:
The setup will depend upon the number of players. No matter what though, it will be an open setup. Anticipate a predominantly vanilla game, like a "heist+". If we have 15 players for example, I might employ this setup:
12 civilians versus 3 mafia
10x vanilla civilian
1x 2-shot tracker
1x 2-shot doctor
2x vanilla mafioso
1x 2-shot mafia role blocker
[1 independent role is plausible pending certain numbers -- it will be public if it exists]
The thread will be locked during night phases, but I will be using them for theme-related mini-games, questions, et cetera. These will be worth game-relevant prizes ranging from extra post allotments (most commonly) or bonus actions/votes/miscellany (less commonly). These will occur often enough to impact the mechanics of the game meaningfully, so the purity of balance in the hypothetical setup above does not necessarily reflect the game you will see. I will not indulge this element of the game enough though that it would on its own power dictate alignment advantages. Prizes will be determined before the game begins. If I have the time, I might present these exercises in the form of literal recorded lectures (very brief lectures).
