Re: All Things NFL
My interest in the entire league is lessened at the moment. I think there's a very real chance there won't even be a 2020 NFL season. Fans in the stands are almost definitely out.

Agreeable result.
Sorry MacDougall. Your team is loaded and could get back in the near future.

Re: All Things NFL
SF is a nicely run-driven offense and defensive powerhouse in a league that is largely dominated by absurd passing numbers (Jameis Winston threw for 5,000 yards FFS). I appreciate that they show the old school winning formula still has a place in the league.
And I hope they lose.

Re: All Things NFL
I loathe "story lines" in sports, so that makes this a pretty splendid matchup. I hate SF, so I'd prefer they not participate. I'll take it though.

Re: All Things NFL
Go Chiefs. The 49ers are easily my least-favorite NFC team.
I do think SF is better put-together. If Mahomes plays well though it equalizes everything else.

Please beat the Bengals so they can land the first pick.G-Man wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:05 am I guess my Dolphins might have a chance against the Jets this weekend now that the trade deadline has put an end to their fire-wagon sale shenanigans. Re: All Things NFL
The Bills made some very confusing offseason moves. They seemed to downgrade on purpose at the two most important offensive positions (QB and LT). And, oddly, both of those positions saw key swaps between our teams, considering Cordy Glenn and AJ McCarron.ColinIsCool wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 11:24 pm Went to the Ralph today to see the Bills v. Bengals. Whole stadium gives Andy Dalton a hero’s welcome for his last game last season and his charitable response to Bills fans’ charity. He smiles and looks grateful, then proceeds to dad dick us pretty much every chance he gets, ripping up our swiss cheese O-line and making Josh Allen’s first start completely inert. Feels great.

Re: All Things NFL
I'm okay with either result now. The Patriots again is extremely boring, but if they take a 6th Lombardi then they match the Steelers and diminish their insufferable boasting. The Eagles finally getting one would be a lot of fun.

Re: All Things NFL
It was a very good game. I don't think it'd be in my top five though. With a big comeback like this comes a big collapse, and it's often painful to watch a team just piss away a big lead. The Falcons made some very strange decisions to facilitate it and that kind of thing takes away from the excitement for me. It's just bizarre.

I just feel terrible for Falcons fans. Some of them have really been waiting their entire lives for an opportunity like this, and I know they could just taste it tonight. I can just imagine how I would feel in their shoes being a fan of another team that hasn't ever won it all.
Enjoy it though, Sloonbeard and timmer.

Re: All Things NFL
I don't think a team can lose Tom Brady without missing a beat, but yeah I do expect New England to remain a strong team after he's gone (until Belichick retires). It might mean the difference between going to the AFC Championship game every year and merely being in playoff contention every year though.

Re: All Things NFL
I've picked against the Falcons in both of their games so far this postseason. My brain is telling me to pick against them again.
I don't really feel any hatred toward the Patriots. I don't really care about the Patriots. I will be rooting for Atlanta though, because it warms my hear to see downtrodden franchises pull out of the shitter and get a title. The last examples were New Orleans after the 2009 season and Seattle after 2013.
Things like that give a poor Bengals fan hope.

My pick is that it'll be Patriots/Packers. Three of the four teams are a giant snoozefest though and the only one I will be rooting for is Atlanta.
Screw the Steelers.

I think Carolina could find its way back into contention just by virtue of their division. The only serious competitor right now is Atlanta, and they're not going to be scoring 40 points every week.

It's fun because it's caused some coaches to call for kickers to use diagonal trajectories to avoid touchbacks.Turnip Head wrote:They want to discourage kick return plays since that's where a lot of injuries happen.
