Idk where you are but here’s where I am: I am a confirmed civilian who cannot vote. I also have a report which tells me that there is a player who knew they were going to be recruited Night 1. I think Fayt also alluded to the same role earlier, which I took as a good sign in your favor.
I looked at everyone’s Day 1 to try to identify players who might have known they were the first recruit. Rej was compatible.

I’ll admit that Long Con is the player I’ve paid the least attention to in this game, and that worries me some.

I could see Tony shooting me last night. Or Turnip Head, or Long Con. I think they’d be my top three choices.

I will also reiterate, however, that Tony’s Day 1 does not read like a player who knew he was going to be recruited that night. He’s not the auto-recruit. He’d have to be a later recruit if he’s bad.

Tony is very good at not looking scum. I’ve caught him twice in the past, but both times it took a huge revelation for me to realize he was bad. The second instance of this happened like a week ago and it was awesome. The first one got me a Socky award and was even better.

I’ll push us forward a little more because this day phase is not progressing with the energy I’d hoped:
Junko (the nightly roleblocker) is actually Mukuro Ikusaba. They were automatically recruited night 1, they know monukuma’s identity, share his win condition, and reveals as civilian upon death. They also have or had a 1-shot nightkill to be used at any time during the game.

This is why I say it’s “possible” Jack was actually mafia.

This means that the first person to be recruited was essentially mafia from the beginning. They may not necessarily have known DDL was their partner/boss at the time, but they were aware that they’d be recruited from the outset. I have been looking at player ISOs to see who demonstrated an apparent eagerness to understand the recruitment mechanisms and such: anyone who appeared quizzical about that was probably not the auto-recruit.

But it’s also possible that this player is already dead and flipped civilian. We can’t really know without other secrets coming into play to help us out.

Rej and Okosan strike me as the best candidates for Night 1 recruitment if it was not Jack.

A quick glance at Tony and Turnip suggests that they're not the Night 1 recruit either.

Yeah, my working theory is that it's not that complicated. The game requires that all recruited players kill a player or they can't win. They're going to go for safe targets, not smart ones. I was a super safe target last night, especially if the killer is a Syndicate regular who has seen what Motivated Sloonei can do to bad guys.

Why do you think Jack could be mafia?

To be clear, I am not saying that I believe or disbelieve this to be the case. But it's a possibility that can't be ruled out. This is based off of information that I received in a report.

I'll toss out one little juicy tidbit of information that I have: it is theoretically possible that Jack actually was mafia.

If sig was not the auto-recruit, Day 3 is the earliest he could theoretically become bad.

He'd expressed some previous skepticism of Jack, so that suspicion checks out from a consistency standpoint. He waves his hand at four positive reads. I don't object, but I want reasons attached to those. Same with the mehs, which I am one of. [mention]sig[/mention] why did/do all of these reads exist? How have they changed? What does my flip as Chihiro Tree Stump do to your view of the game?

I am not noticing a big shift in sig's posts between Days 2 & 3, but that doesn't mean much. I didn't love the Jack suspicion from anyone, but there is demonstrated evidence that sig believed in it at a time when I do not think he could have been bad. It's an easy case to hide behind for a new recruit in theory, but I've got no tangible reason to assume that's what happened. My read on sig is dependent on how things progress from this moment forward.
I feel that will be the case for all of you.

This post leads me to suspect that sig was not the Night 1 auto-recruit. There is a tone of speculation that excludes him from the setup awareness that that player would have.

That said, you’re not the player I need the most help sorting. Unless you were recruited last night, I have you as a comfortable town read.

Everyone else, get in here and help us solve. We have one confirmed civilian. We have multiple roles that can’t be recruited. I have reason to believe there is a limit on the number of recruitments monokuma is allowed to make. This game is not unwinnable.

I do agree with your theory in general, though, TLib. I'm just not sure which names I'd narrow it down to. If I was the mafia's intended kill, the simplest answer is that they wanted to make sure they wouldn't hit a protected player.

I'm not sure I see speedchuck killing me, but that's not a rock solid read. It's based on meta, nothing game related.
I would have an easier time seeing Creature pulling the trigger. I would half expect Creature to let a random number generator determine his kill.

If you wanted to kill someone Confirmed no protections no redirections that would be my target.
Remembering a new mafia finds out all previous mafia members they wouldn't want to go killing them unless it was extremely needed, it isn't right now. This points in my head to him being a possible earlier conversion and them not wanted killed. (i suspect that it could have been the last conversion that had the kill as well.)

But Creature is no longer playing. Speedchuck replaced him during the night.

My interpretation of the mechanics is that every new recruit performs the kill on the first night they are able. If no recruit happens, then the kill rotates to whichever member of the mafia team has gone the longest without performing a kill. Does anyone have a different interpretation?
