I do not see it this way. I don't think revealing the message changes a whole lot about my perception of the event. It could be done out of an attempt at transparency on chop's part, or it could just be a nervous reaction, or he thought Daisy was gonna do it first. I think "giving a summary" would be riskier because then he runs the risk of Daisy calling him out and reversing her town stance on him.Urist wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 6:25 pmit allows us to see the "slip". without seeing the exact text, we can only go on what spacedaisy said about how egregious the slip was. and she was town-reading chopchop.
i think if chop was mafia he could simply give some summary that makes him look good, and i doubt daisy would complain.

none of his reads or his takes today feel authentic or soulful or like theyre coming from the thought process of someone who is carefully evaluating the game. his push on alison that he shortly dropped after is weird. his belief that chopchop/space are both scum that he then immediately dropped in favor of defending chop is weird. his reasoning for wanting to chop rej over chopchop is weird. his energy today compared to d2 is dramatically different, and not in a way that i particularly like. he feels somewhat deflated and like he doesn't know where to take his solving or how to position himself in the thread
he would probably be on whatever team chopchop is on, since he's been soft defending him for a while now

I've been reading Urist as faintly town and firmly not teamed with Esooa.
ChopChop would be Enclave, so I do not object to that pairing.

Re: Fallout 2: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [Day 2]
That would probably be my response, tbh.
But more importantly, I am still unclear on why you chose the strategy that you did. Why did you want to target a null read to "get more info on them"? Why not targeting a town read to help clear yourself? Why did you fish for daisy's role? Why relay your reads to her so that she could act as your mouthpiece? And why Daisy out of all the "null reads" in the game?

Re: Fallout 2: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [Day 2]
My concern with Mac is that he has/had continued to give uninformed reads while not acknowledging them as such. He has acknowledged it now, but that only came after it was pointed out that he'd missed some pretty major details (such as your roleclaim).Alison wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 4:55 pm I have a town read on Mac, mostly because he can't really win as scum if he plays like this. His teammates are going to get trampled on and he'll get outed by mech or by "well, we're out of good exes, let's just get rid of the afk". I have seen him blitz out first post reads as scum before (in SI) and he did that with a specific eye to pocketing a specific person via meta. He is pocketing nobody in this game with this behavior. I also just remembered that he said in Bread Mafia he was going to take mafia lowkey for a while because of some arguments he got into in D1.
I do not suspect Mac for his activity, and I do not suspect him for generating bogus uninformed reads alone. But I am slightly skeptical of him when he consistently puts bogus reads into the thread without letting on that they are bogus. I would have expected town Mac to inform the thread that his reads were largely uninformed sooner than he did; before people could start taking them seriously, rather than waiting until he was called out for being uninformed.
I have not considered what his "winning strategy" would be playing this way, but I'm not sure he needs to have one. I believe him when he say he has been unable to play as much as usual, and I do not doubt that he'd prefer to remain lowkey for personal reasons (I didn't play or spectate Bread, but I don't doubt your account of things), but with all of this in mind I think it is possible that MafiaMac's strategy right now is just to be accepted as town and worry about the rest later. He does not have time to mastermind a team victory, or if he does, he's not in a position to do that yet. He needs to earn some trust first. So he does that by vomiting quick reads into the thread.

I'm still trying to figure out why he targeted Spacedaisy.
I think that his reaction of admitting it was him is a good look, because Spacedaisy pointed out specifically that it was suspicious to ignore Esooa in whatever thoughts he included. I also think it's a good look for Spacedaisy for even putting it in the thread in the first place, and she came to a similar conclusion.
But.
I don't trust your handling of ChopChop this game, which is why I'm skeptical about it.
In the interest of preserving thread sanity I'll drop the act now.
I lied to Marmot at the outset of this conversation. I read the situation opposite to what I told him: Chop is mafia, Daisy is town. I just wanted to see how he'd respond if I held the door open to town-read ChopChop. He kind of took it, and I didn't love that first answer. He walked through the door very gingerly.
Circling back to this, I don't really know why you picked me for this exercise. If ChopChop is indeed wolf, there's no way I start a wagon on him the way I did Day 1.
Anyway, putting my vote on Chop later, but I'll put it back on the catatonic Sloonei for now.
