Re: [DAY 1] Literal WWerecreatures Invade Syndicate Zoo: An SDN Crossover Game
I think Falcon said a provocative thing about you and you were provoked. I think he made a mountain out of a molehill first, and you responded by making your out mountain out of your own molehill. Falcon's initial gripe, whether or not we believe it, was that you were not proactive enough in addressing your concerns about the early Miranda votes. Was it fair as an accusation at face value? Not really. But was it an acceptable play for early Day 1 of a crossover mafia game on Mafiathesyndicate.com? Absolutely.Zenge wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 9:00 pm You’re right. I’m extremely dissatisfied.
I asked you for one thing. One simple thing. Give me your thoughts on the content itself.
Instead you gave another hand wavy answer that simply acknowledges the existence of the content and talk about how it was created on D1.
I wanted you to talk to me about the argument I’m making against Falcon. The specific point about what Falcon said, my rebuttal, and what you agree with or disagree with in that exchange, with specifics.
I still expect an answer here.
You responded critically and defensively, because it was a bit of a bogus accusation. That is fair. But, in your response, I felt you took some liberties with his words, or at least presented a rather one-sided view of his position (It is not hard to see how falcon could interpret your initial concern as being simply the speed with which the votes occurred). This is reminiscent of how you have responded to me today. But, again, that is fine, because it is Day 1 of a mafia game, and we need to twist some words to get people talking.
Was I swayed by any of the arguments either of you made against one another? No. I was not. If I am to give a read, it's that both of you are town. Falcon, for playing the role of provocateur. You, because your defensive reaction turned into what looks to be a very firmly-held belief that you are onto something. But neither of those are strong reads, which is why I will again stress that I'm more interested in seeing how you respond to other things.
I do not believe there is anything meaningful to be gained by continuing this dialogue.

How do you think you'll adjust to playing a game with so many unfamiliar faces and no known metas?miranda920 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 6:54 pm One of the more challenging things for me will be remembering to come on this forum and navigating. So far I think I'm getting the hang of it here.
Outside of that, I think playing with new players will be challenging as I don't have any bias or know your metas.

Re: [DAY 1] Literal WWerecreatures Invade Syndicate Zoo: An SDN Crossover Game
I think I represent the "Falcon is not playing weird" crowd. But the extent of my point was just that it is not unusual for Falcon to pick a fight with another player on Day 1 of the game about something seemingly insignificant or trivial.Seanzie wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 6:47 pmI'd like to get caught up before I give too many hot takes, but Falcon is playing weird, however I have no interested in elimming them right now.potentialsheltervet wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 5:24 pm Anyway, I find the split on whether falcon is playing out of character or not to be an interesting one. sloonei says no, neon says yes. Re: [DAY 1] Literal WWerecreatures Invade Syndicate Zoo: An SDN Crossover Game
Truthfully, I do not have anything to say about the content itself. It is Day 1 noise to me, and that is fine. The game needs Day 1 noise. This is more a product of how I go about the game than anything else. These sorts of arguments are not helpful to me as arguments. It is useful as content, though. I find it helpful in that it has established a baseline reading for both you and falcon. It can also be useful later on as things develop.Zenge wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 5:03 pm @Sloonei
I’d like you to for once, give your thoughts on the merits of the argument here.
I said “This is how I imagine wolves would approach the game and so I’m looking for people who are doing that”. Falcon responded to that specifically by saying this isn’t a “towny mindset”.
I asked Flacon how that’s not a towny mindset, and Falcon REFUSED to answer and tried to deflect and change the subject.
I asked AGAIN, and Falcon responded by falling back to the complaint that I wasn’t asking the people voting for Miranda questions. WHICH IS NOT AN ANSWER TO MY QUESTION.
I want you Sloonei, to talk about the actual content here. Not some hand waving about how “this just seems like flacon to you”.
I want you to respond with thoughts about the actual content here.
But it was never my hope or intention to get involved in a discussion of the merits of your point of view or his. If you must know my thoughts on the content, they are as follows: you two are engaged in a Generic Day 1 Argument. I encourage you to continue to the extent that you feel is necessary in order to be satisfied with your read on falcon. But do not expect me to participate in it. I'll flesh out my reads on you two in my own ways.

Re: [DAY 1] Literal WWerecreatures Invade Syndicate Zoo: An SDN Crossover Game
@Zenge You are misreading my energy and intentions. As I have repeatedly said, I am not looking to engage with you on your read or disagreement with falcon. I am not telling you to drop it either. I simply wanted to tell you that the things you are objecting to in falcon's play are not out of character for him. You and he may continue to feel each other out if you think it is necessary. It might be. It might also cause more harm than good if you both get locked in a tunnel.
But, for me, I have already seen about as much as I need from this particular exchange from each of you. I have seen that falcon is playing with his typical energy, which is a slight mark in his favor (simply because playing without that energy would be a concern). I have also gotten a preliminary glimpse into the kind of player that you are. My kneejerk reaction is that you are somebody who will deliberately explore an individual case or hunch with great vigor when you believe you are onto something. I think the inevitable outcome of you and falcon bumping into each other is exactly what we have seen here. Thus, I will be more interested in seeing how each of you reacts and responds to other things later in the game.
A bit about me: I tend to be a very patient and reserved player early in games. I like to let the game breathe a bit while I poke and prod my way around. That is what I have been doing here. I have avoided getting into "the merits of your case" against Falcon because that is not what is of interest to me at this moment.
Now, as for you using false quotations to put words in my mouth, I was speaking very literally there. Observe:

These are not words that I said. It would not be inaccurate to say that my intention was to provide insight into falcon's character. But I did not say it in the way you are you suggesting.
This is also not something that I said. I have explained why I think this is a misreading of my intentions.
This is the worst offense. I never used the words "disengage" or "nonsense", or even remotely implied either of them.

"Combative" in the sense that Zenge was framing me as an adversary when my only intention was to provide insights into how falcon usually operates. @miranda920 What were your thoughts/feelings coming into this game? I ask because you have a fairly unique perspective, based on what I'm told. You are relatively new to mafia, playing in a game with lots of players who may be experienced, but who are "new" to each other. What sort of things have you picked up on in your first few games of mafia, and do you anticipate any new challenges in this particular game?

Re: [DAY 1] Literal WWerecreatures Invade Syndicate Zoo: An SDN Crossover Game
We used to refer to day vote eliminations as "lynches". A couple of years ago, we collectively agreed to phase that word out because of its unfavorable historical connotations. But we never settled unanimously on a term to replace it. As a result, some people now say "yeet". "Chop" is another word that gets used from time to time. "Eliminate" is probably the most consistent vanilla term.SportPonies wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 2:27 pmInteresting.Animal Midwife wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 2:24 pm Do people on Syndicte usually use the word "yeet" in these games? I do not plan to get involved in the arguments you are directing toward falcon. That is not a defensive impulse. It's just not something that I view as productive for me or the thread. Because that’s a very generic dismissal of my read and my push. You’re using the fact that you have familiarity with Falcon to completely dismiss my very valid reasons for finding this player to be a wolf.
So with regards to your “This is what he does”, please, I’d like you to be as thorough as possible in your explanation.
How his play develops from there might vary from game to game. But this is the typical opening move from falcon.
I asked him a very simple question, very concisely, twice. The first time he realized he didn’t have a good answer because he was full of it and tried to just walk away from the conversation. The second time he tried to obfuscate and redirect attention, still refusing to admit he was wrong or answer the question.
Coupled with everything else he’s done on thread, this is a wolf.
I’m not letting this go.

Have some unsolicited and unconnected reads:
I am inclined to read both seanzie and Animal Midwife as town.
I do not have a clear vision of what falcon’s mafia play looks like, but I think his hyper-antagonistic approach so far is reminiscent of town falcon.
I have zero concerns about Dennis at this moment.

They are all interchangeable and depend on who you’re speaking to. JJJ uses mafia.SportPonies wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 11:01 amAnswers from syndicate regulars are appreciated too, even if dy is correctSportPonies wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 10:52 am Wait quick question
Does the Syndicate usually play with mafia as the bad affiliation or wolves?

miranda has two votes from SDN members, 2 votes from Syndicate members. What can @santygrass and @SportPonies tell me about miranda and their experience with her?

Now that our game is truly afoot: Hello SDN Friends. What can you all tell me about yourselves and each other as mafia players? Are there any quirks of your home site’s typical gameplay that you think us Syndicats should know about?

Many of us are a doctor of some variety (DVM, MD, PhD) or working towards it, yes. But we're werewolf players first, duhDennis wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 1:48 pmWait you're all like doctors and stuff? I thought that was just a fun name woahSARdoghandler wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 9:51 amIt's not actually a mafia site if that allays some confusion! It's mostly a pre-med/pre-vet site that connects students with doctors, hence the name. We just also enjoy a good game of mafia many times haha
Some of us are simply married to doctors, so don't ask me for any medical opinions
for example
medically speaking is it bad to ball up an entire froot rollup and then stick it in my mouth like a chipmunk?

Re: [DAY 0] Literal WWerecreatures Invade Syndicate Zoo: An SDN Crossover Game
If you're gonna eat my flesh and sinew too, that's a different story. At least then you have the decency to make a full meal out of me. There is an authority to carnivorousness that I respect. Simply siphoning off some of my blood, and leaving behind Lyme disease or malaria or whatever else, is cowardly, dastardly, and incompatible with inter-species decency.falcon45ca wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 11:15 pmSloonei wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:57 pmThey're the runners up in this competition.
