It seems there is some ongoing discussion on MU about tweaking the setup slightly. I’m keeping an eye on that, and will make any necessary adjustments to this game if any changes are implemented over there.

Just to keep everyone informed on the potential start of this game: I've got a birthday coming up, so I don't plan on being home for most of Monday and parts of Sunday as well. If we get this filled in the next day or two, I can (hopefully) at least send out roles on Saturday for a Day 0 phase and start Day 1 on Sunday.

If we fill up later than Saturday, we'll probably have to wait til Tuesday at the earliest for the game to begin.

The deadline time that works best for me is around 7-8 PM EST, but that is negotiable. It's never possible to set a deadline that works perfectly for everybody, unfortunately, but I'd like to be as accommodating as possible.

It is definitely worth keeping in mind that we have other representatives signed up for this game, and they'll all have their own preliminary games to play in at some point (I do not think anyone else here is slated for Game #1, at least). Ideally we can get this game off the ground before it becomes an issue again. But that means getting those last couple of slots filled promptly.

I could reduce the player pool to 15, but I feel that compromises the integrity of this game as a trial run for those who will be participating in the tournament. The intent is for this game to be as close to the real thing as possible. Altering the setup diminishes that significantly in my mind.

So, like, 3 more people. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your dogs. But not your cats. I am allergic.

As things currently stand, I intend to start the game as soon as it fills up (exception being that Monday's my birthday, so I probably won't be able to get it off the ground then ). I made a commitment to run this game and people have been invited here specifically to play in the game. I would hate to let those folks down. And I also want to thank you all again for signing up. I hope that this thing will be underway soon. Feel free to continue inviting people, @everyone.

That said, I regret that we will be unable to run this game in time for nutella to use it as a warm-up for her game. She's certainly still welcome to participate if she's inclined, but I would encourage her to not have any other mafia obligations while her tournament game is ongoing.
Not that it matters too much. I am 100% certain that she will hold her own over there. It's what she do.

I’d like to get two more to preserve the setup exactly as it will be run in the tournament. It shouldn’t be hard to scrounge up 2 more players from anywhere on the internet.

We just need 5 more and we can get this underway. If any of you know of anyone who might be interested, don't be afraid to invite them here. My hope for this game remains to be as diverse as possible in our player roster. The more communities we can have represented, the closer we'll be to a real tournament atmosphere.

I'm about to go away for the weekend, so the earliest I'd possibly be able to start this is Monday if we fill it in that time. If we can manage to get those last 5 people in here by Easter, I can have roles sent out on Monday.

In the meantime, I encourage everybody to review the rules and the mechanics in the first post. Lots of things in this game are not standard for Syndicate users, and other things are not quite as they will be for the tournament; I also anticipate that certain Syndicate software features might take some getting used to for our newcomers.

The east coast has New Hampshire and mountains and occasionally nice climates. The great lakes have wind. Lots and lots of wind.

NOTE: The game thread will be LOCKED during night phases for this game, in keeping with tournament rules. This is not standard on the Syndicate, as well as other communities I'm sure.

Please review all rules/mechanics at the top of the page and let me know if anything else needs clarifying.
This game is mostly following MU standards, which are not the same as Syndicate standards, and neither Syndicate nor MU standards will be the standards of other represented communities. It's entirely possible that there may be something which needs to be clarified that I am totally unaware of.

Is there a way to keep this color forever without never posting. Also is the 200 post limit on in this game too/ is there a way to implement that on this site? How come whenever i click return it keeps trying to mention me. What do the buttons do? How do I vote?

I'm not going to implement the 200-post limit in this game, primarily because I don't think there's an easy way to enforce it on this site.

Votes will need to be cast in the poll to officially count during the game. But I will also be encouraging people to declare their votes using the [VOTE: Vote Tag] aubergine for the sake of visibility.

The @tag on here likes to travel through quote chains. You can get rid of it by deleting it the post you're responding to.

Welcome! The purpose of this game is to serve as a warm-up for the Mafia Championship Tournament on MafiaUniverse. The setup will mirror the tournament's setup, and I will do my best to replicate the structure and environment of the games that will be played over there, with obvious differences based on the Syndicate's settings (we don't have an in-house vote-tallying bot, for instance).

While the primary motivation for this game is to give our own representiative (nutella has the honor this year) a chance to familiarize herself with the style of game she should expect on MU, it is also my hope and my goal that we can welcome in a number of other participants from other communities as well. The nicest thing about the annual MU tournament in my mind is the cross-community mingling it inspires, and this game is intended to reflect that. Anyone at all can sign up for this game, though I will try to give priority to tournament representatives. This is not an official tournament event and we are not affiliated with MafiaUniverse. This game is intended to be an fun, informal practice run.

This year's tournament setup is named Mad17. Complete details of it can be found by clicking the link. It features a full roster of power roles which are all limited to acting on designated nights. Role alignments are randomly determined, meaning that none of these roles are guaranteed to be either Town or Mafia/Wolf. Some abilities only apply to Mafia-aligned players, though. Refer to this chart:
