Re: Fallout New Vegas: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [DAY 1]

There’s not really a button per se- there is a {vote} box in the reply menu that will put the code around your player. But I just do the code manually on phone.

It’s a bit archaic in comparison to the format of MU, I must admit.

It’s not a substantive read because, well, he hasn’t really done much. But at the time in my drunken state, I liked his vibe. He’s like the dude that showed up with a box of 2 day old pizza and let me have it
So it's mostly a tonal read, I see.

Of course, saying this out loud is something she can easily adapt to. I’ve been pretty right reading her town games early on of late though

Townreads: Chelsea, Scotty

Both had strong openings, don't shy away from making waves and throwing out reads early, both feel inquisitive and mindful

Slight townleans: Abigail, Michelle
Abigail had some volume that I consider "empty" but also one banger reads list. I kinda agree that wolves don't seem to have a lot of thread presence yet since I townread all the players who made waves so far.

Michelle feels towny in tone and approach as well but it has been ages since I had meaningful games with Michelle so I am not quite up to date on how to read her.

Neutral: Lime, Creature
Lime had the slight issue in my eyes that I felt like he was mostly going for the "everyone is happiness" approach, a strategy I like to do in uninspired wolf games that can come from TMI and a lack of easy pushes. I disliked the "forcing townreads" stuff. I don't have any direct issue with a single post though, so... we'll see where this goes.

Creature has a NAI Creature opening so far but as per usual I will roast you over the fiery pit if I don't get to see at least SOME reads and gameplay-related posts before the end of the phase - THIS is usually what makes Creature obvious, whether his whining gets backed up by an attempt of participation - or not.

Worrisome: Manny, seanzie, Dunnstral
Manny feels less energetic than I'd thought I'd see him play in a game with several of the people he himself recruited. I do have a potential explanation on why he'd play the way he does (at least if this could be compared to MU games) but... I honestly hoped to find Manny early D1 and just chill, which is not the case.

Dunnstral has had a lot of posts but nothing so far managed to stick with me. If someone else knows how to read Dunn I'm all ears, but from experience this is something that's either wolf indicative - or a clash of playstyle/personal tiredness.

seanzie had a lot of nothing paired with a long period of absence, and as I said earlier it's the one take from Scotty that I disagree with, so far.

Rest of the crowd didn't leave an impression enough to be on this list yet.
Ima make up a new category for you.

Townread:

Princess Abbi
TSP

Townlean:

Michelle
Lime Coke

Scum lean:

Manny
jack

Scumread:

Do you base this on the mech post? I find that a tad odd because anyone can speak on mech, especially considering it's basically truth-talk and busy work Day 1. It's probably the most irrelevant line of conversation you can go down. Now, given it's RVS at that point, sure talk away on a matter I consider unimportant but out of all of Scotty's early posts, why that one?

I can't decipher whether your reaction is over-eager or just premature. Even with your later answer just doesn’t feel like you should be this set.
Lots of incorrect assumptions in this post.
Agreed. Because I share this viewpoint I will light townread you. It shows Chelsea hasn’t really read the thread before making a blanket statement/read.

He’s said that wasn’t the reason that he townread me- it was my aggressiveness

Which is blatantly wrong because I’m plenty aggressive as wolf too. But that’s fine.

Also, I’ve already expressed that me mentioning mech is bound to be poo-poo’d and here we are
Talk about mech in and of itself is fine when it's relevant not the first few posts of the game where it helps nothing and is just empty noise in a thread. It's less the fact it's mech and more the fact it's easy, but that's an entirely different conversation not needed for this thread.
I mean, I’ve said as much. My conclusion was that it wasn’t helpful without a few flips. Also I was drunk posting and didn’t have a filter. I love mech and mech talk, so I can’t help it lol

Lately? Town. I haven't been putting as much effort into mafia in general in the last year or two and that makes it a lot harder for me to avoid yeet as a wolf whereas townJack can just do a burst of solving and either find a wolf, get out of dodge or both. Being super active for say 4 hours and gone for the other 20 just hurts me a lot more if I'm wolf aligned.

Why is trying to get by on vibe reads mafia indicative?. You arent wrong on me doing that but i dont think is particularly AI.
Brad is a meta read, Scotty was a tone read, i could go look up the posts that made me have those reads but why bother when like u said its similar to the consensus?
I believe it is mafia indicative because I believe mafia like to try to get themself into a stable position where they are not a real consideration for the elimination. That is their main goal at the start of the game and it tends to be effective to look "towny" early.

You should bother to explain your reads so we know how you reached your conclusions. Your process can be more important than the result. You saying it is consensus anyway is not helpful.
I’m sold. Too many people are townreading Michelle on vibe posting this early and it’s wigging me out.

It is a bit of a misrepresentation to frame it like this, they made their posts at the start of the day and haven't posted since then. As for me I don't have an opinion on Creature yet but didn't find their early posts to be alarming (though I also dislike when people say they're not good on day 1 like this)
It’s alarming when you look at creature through the lens of activity and gloomdooming. That’s more of a scum tell.

☆Princess Abigail☆ wrote: Tue Feb 13, 2024 5:07 am See for Scotty I largely wolf read early mech posts in games and in my data they are 70% of the time wolf posts but I think everything around the bread stuff is just so insanely town that I'm willing to lock that in early

Creature keeps making excuses for why people are gonna vote him and it feels very defeatist in a wolfy way but I won't vote there unless someone checks me because I can't read creature

Breads insistence that Scotty is town and his read is right against all challenges is just towny imo I'd not be willing to lock that though

Manny feels decidedly disengaged but that's something old me would hard town read however new me is trying to be more patient with what I town lock so I'm gonna say town lean

Chelsea pushing me I hate but only cause this narrative is the same one I get miskilled for constantly by and large I think... assuming Chelsea has no experience with me... that Chelsea is town

What I'm saying is I think the active part of the thread is all town
I will agree that in a vacuum, regardless of Lime Coke’s alignment, his endorsement does make me pretty town unless we’re both exactly wolves. He seems to stake a lot of credence on his godread of me after having only played like 1-2 games with me since we wolfed together 2 years ago.
More background on that game: it was just us in a jester game- I was a little hesitant because…it was a jester game so we needed to play close to our chest. He died early, and I was widely townread until town yeeted the jester. Then after that game I went on a 20-game town streak. Since then, every time I’ve randed wolf, I win. Being aggressive against teammates, being not aggressive. Whatever. I don’t even think he’s seen most of the games I’ve randed wolf.

This isn’t to self aggrandize, but I think his stance of godreading me, if coming from a wolf, is plain TMI. And coming from a town is just a bizarre hill to die on.

Why must you ask to be carried then ask even more questions when the option presents itself to you? If you don't want to be get up off your butt and find your own vote.

Between all the empty filler posting the stuff that has content and explanation around it feels overly explained and LAMIST for how they've already presented the way they want to play.

He’s said that wasn’t the reason that he townread me- it was my aggressiveness

Which is blatantly wrong because I’m plenty aggressive as wolf too. But that’s fine.

Soo, Scotty decided I deserve a vote because I didn't like his game start, choose to change the vibe by a huge nothinburger meta post, btw a 17er needs 4 wolves imo and an 18er would add a kind of survivor, or jester, something unrelated much with the other 17.
Without flips this has littls value anyway

Brad why did you accept me in your pocket if you don't town read me?
#jumps out :pout:
Now I'll search for other comfy pockets...

Also, +1 to Sean because made me smile.
Long Con keeps the top town position.
Brad is ok-ish even if he has empty pockets ^^
If Scotty thinks he knows Brad I have news, we were hydra partners recently so I can make my own attempt to read Brad without Scotty's "help"
Aand Scotty is still underwhelming

The newcomer, welcome to the site! I need more from them.

Anyone else didn't show AI stuff imo.
oops I didn’t explain why I jumped on you- it wasn’t that you found me underwhelming or wolfy, it was this tidbit on your post:
“Creature asked for a toDay pass. I'll give it to him”

Why? Do you often give passes to those that make lazy slanking entrances?

I don’t know how many of you jumnajis have played this game or are familiar wit the source material. I certainly have never played Fallout in any capacity- I just know they have vaults. Is this the one with the large bulbous looking dude with the conical hands that is the guardian of the little girl with the teddy bear?

Anyway, I’m probably not th best person to analyze mech but it’s what I do. It’s what I do.

Mech notes at a glance
18 player game with 3 guaranteed mafia and 2 indies is,..odd. A lot hinges on the secret mambo courier #5. If there’s one definite aggro 3p, it would make sense that there is a more benign one here with this player count. It’s too early to speculate on how many mafia. 3 mafia sounds a slightly town sided, and 4 sounds wolf sided, but that should be easier to speculate if the courier role is revealed in any way.

Town has a guaranteed 1x tracker/1x jailer, and then fuckin more chaff than a bucket of spuds. 12-13/23 is hard to manage, considering 12 of the possible roles are VT. This gurauntees at least someone is VT. Probably 4-5 is my guess. If there’s 4 mafia, we’ve probably got more town PRs to compensate.

Why am I sayin talk this, you may ask? Well, because I’m drunk and sometimes I just talk about shit.
I want to kill the evil 3p. @Mafia, if you wanna team up, I’ll promise not to go after you this game too early if we can find and eliminate the mean arsonist/poisoner/mushroom menace. Sound good?
4 mafia would be balanced from mafia point of view while 3 mafia seems too little. 6 baddies does not seem balanced for town, though.
Right, that's why I'm operating under the inference that one of the indies is more of a 'sad-die' than a 'baddie'

Mech talk is generally frowned upon, and in general there's too many variables at play (which was JJJ's intent so we can't game the game). This will be more pertinent after some flips.
