Re: [Day 5] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

Lol Gman giant troll. Just like Cats. Wow we're doing terrific. Can we go perfect?
Welcome back, Sloonei!
Also, nights are by far the best time for discussion, what with this silencing thing on big talkers.

Re: [Day 5] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

Canucklehead wrote:My paranoid side reallyreallyreally wants to jump on the "Sloonei's been recruited" wagon. Like REALLY. Mostly because I'm personally pretty convinced that the Wildhorn team has a recruitment/"corruption" mechanism, and because Sloonei is 100% exactly who I would recruit if I was on a baddie team with that power. Not only did he have MondoSuperExtraDuper Civ cred in the thread prior to the hooded dudes night, I'm also very, very confident that Sloonei is capable of pulling off the delicate balance of being a recruit (maintaining civ cred in the thread, not altering behaviour, able to cogently explain away any possible suspicions of corruptedness, etc). I think Sloonei would be the obvious and ideal candidate to recruit, and I think that if a team has the ability to recruit and a choice in when they get to do it, it's almost always the right move to recruit early. The only reservation I have about Sloonei being the recruit, is that the whole hooded figures high five thing would seem like a pretty leading element to include in a night post, and I'm not sure whether or not Dom would give us that much info. Perhaps because the roles/abilites are unknown this game he'd be willing to do so? But putting that much heat on a player because of a host post is an interesting hosting conundrum. Not sure where Dom would stand on that.....

Of course, there's also the fact that all this is pure speculation. It's not enough to go after Sloonei yet, but I am definitely watching him very carefully from now on, and definitely have the possibility of corruption/recruitment firmly in my mind when reading his posts (once he can talk again, that is....)

I don't think corruption can automatically happen without guessing one of the 3 roles in the PM, canuck. So..yes, it's the right move to recruit early, but I the question is, did LC guess right?
Again, the fact that 2 hooded figures didn't interact with Sloonei leads me to believe it wasn't Sloonei but someone else that was corrupted, if any.
That was a lot of rambling that didn't say much, I know. :sigh:

Re: [Day 5] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

Some notes about the singer:
-he/she has only sung from Sondheim shows so far (West Side, Sweeney Todd, Gypsy, A Funny Thing Happened)
-Has been labeled as Angela Lansbury by playGolden (for Sweeney Todd), then playSloonei makes an aside in Night 3 of "who is that guy" which tells me the singer's the same person with a wig on every time.
-Reminds me the MC in Cabaret or the Narrator in several shows including Into the Woods. But it's not those. I'm almost 75% sure if the singer is based on anything, he's based on:
-Pseudolus, of Funny Thing Happened. Originally played by Nathan Lane, he starts the show with the sililoquy "Comedy Tonight", setting up the mood, and attempting to be funny about it.

If a civ has any part of the singer's shenanigans, I'm 75% sure it's Funny Thing Happened.

Re: [Day 5] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I mean anything's a possibility because we still don't know what the recruitment looks like, if it looks like anything. If someone is corrupted, would they be mentioned in the Singer's lyrics?
In sloonei's case, I'm rather confused as to his switch to Dfaraday, who hasn't pinged me at all. Nutella i sorta get, but by voting for people that have literally never received a vote and not being able to back yourself up is a little headscratch-y.

Other people mentioned by the singer:
night 1: "don't forget Cobalt's in the mafia"
Night 2: "the trouble with Long Con is how do you know he's a livin fella? Try Nutella...not as salty as Cobalt...not as curious as Sloonei"
Night 3: "she's so bad!...she's got nothing to do but be dead...everyone's voting Nutella! (X2)"
Night 4; "so many baddies in our sight...Cobalt! G-Man! Epignosis! Tiny Bubbles!"

The more I look at it, the more I want to say that Gman might be correct in thinking the singer is just a personality of the host, bringing light to suspicions in the thread, and/or making fun of people's name (in the case of Nutella methinks)

But Sloonei's hooded reference is a stage direction.
"Sloonei sits on the floor...[Hooded figures] shake hands, and ascend out."

Whereas Golden was killed and seemingly ressurrected (Or Dom just made a mistake), Sloonei had third parties involved. But why would they be mentioned at all unless it meant something? They didn't interact with Sloonei, which honestly could mean they made some backdoor deal without involving Sloonei at all.
I dunno guys, I don't think it's Sloonei or else he would have been a part of the hooded duo.

It could be a corruption of someone else, however. And the singer may have nothing to do with it.

Re: [Day 4] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

nutella is an interesting case to watch. I'm not gonna get into my analysis now nor will I have time to (nor do I feel like I have that gut feeling on her as of yet), but she pinged me slightly after the Sloonei [almost] kill. Sloonei seems to be on to her as well, which is what is making me evaluate her more closely. If Sloonei could talk, I'm sure he'd fill in the thread more.

But this singer has been oddly specific the past few nights. Could be a red herring, could just be flavor text. But I think if it's a civ, they know something.
nutella wrote:^wait, what? I just see that he died... and is on the poll, but that's probably an error unless Dom posts again that he's alive?
but as for now, RIP Sloonei. That's a loss for the thread, he's been really helpful.

Singer, whoever you are, you're very wrong about me.
General disbelief that her team didn't kill this time? 'No, I refuse to believe Sloonei could be so lucky. He's dead. Oh well. rest in peace, blah blah' is how this post comes off to me.

Could you be getting framed, nutella? Eh, anything is possible. Do I like my eggs sunny side up? Eh, sometimes.
nutella wrote:Wow. Nobody died... again.

Did everyone who voted for Miss Saigon get the West Side Story pm?
There's that seemingly frustrated, "...again"

I'm probably not gonna touch on this again for a while, but I do want to bring it to attention now, to maybe vouch for Sloonei's current vote for nutella.

Is that true? I figured it appeared around the time Epi was lynched, and since there haven't been any night kills in a few days, that's the only one that was revealed. So I maybe thought Epi was Into the Woods, and they're revealed as night kills happen? Eh?
Though maybe not. I seem to be wrong in my speculation of late.

Should this corruption be a thing, we must assume that they have no say in the voting process. So do their goals change to winning if team Wildhorn wins, but with no say in the matter? That's a pretty shitty way to be forced to play the game.

I wonder if its Jekyll and Hyde... you can give your team (effectively) a spare day by stopping the lynch, but if you get lynched you take away a night. I dunno, though, if any of the other musicals makes more sense with a 'stop time' aspect to their role. I just don't know wildhorn's stuff at all.
Ok I agree with your points Golden. Could be Jekyll and Hyde. I've acted in that show and it sucks btw lol. The song 'Confrontation' makes sense for this, because he's basically attempting to end his long "night" but Hyde won't let him.
On the flip side, I feel like Dom would miss an opportunity to make Jekyll and Hyde like a bomb type character, a la 'one can't live without the other.' The stop time angle makes sense with that video, which has me wondering who is behind those messages. You guys think it's Dom or a civ role??

Re: [Day 4] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

Well you know what would be interesting, Sloonei?
I hadn't thought of this before. If Dom isn't randomly sending out roles, then maybe he's sending out ones that fit together?
There were 4 unique PMs for Day 1, right? Well, there are 4 independents. 1 was seemingly obviously pertaining to one of the independents. Maybe the other 3 are as well?

And the book reading PM (we can say it's about Wildhorn, just can't copy and paste) was a baddie.

Maybe Dom is systematically revealing the abilities of bad roles.

As for corruption, I'm still uncertain, but I would assume every night LC had a chance to pick a player he thought was one of the 3 plays, and if he guesses right they're corrupted in whatever capacity that means.

Havent gotten to this yet, but trust me I haven't forgotten. Point is right now, I'm keeping my eye on your posts as we go into the next day while I still have a slightly scummy vibe on you.

there are a lot of silent people like sloonei said which makes it hard to get an impression of them either way, i don't like it though.
and epi's has been very quiet compared to earlier in the thread when he had a different role (if i recall correctly?) which is also making me wary

btw could you guys call me Bubbles or Tinybubbles, I don't like the acronym TB for reasons stated by Nijuukyugou! :p
Hahaha fair enough Bubbles. And i think I'll start calling Nijuu Ninja. (Sloonei's idea, not mine)

Oh I realize I didn't answer FZ's question. I don't currently have a reason to believe Sloonei has been corrupted, but the problem lies in me assuming that I would notice what that looks like.

Re: [Day 4] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

Dropping in-
It's a happy day! Gays can get married and Sloonei is still here! (I'm beginning to wonder if some people just can't be lynched??

I'm gonna be prettttay busy over the next few days, so I apologize. My post rate is going to be dropping and I won't be getting as many detailed analyses as I would like, but I'm gearing up for vacation July 1-9th, so until then I'ma be a chicken with my head cut off.

NYC is crazy right now. So many parades and spontaneous fabulous parties. That's where I've been all day, and will be all day. Sorry y'all.

But I have 20 minutes. I have been skimming through occasionally and see that there are questions someone asked.
FZ. wrote:Scotty, you were the one most engaged in solving the PMs. What do you think about the corruption PM, if there really was one, and how does that influence what you think happened in the night regarding Sloonei.
There were still some words that I think Golden figured out about the means of which Wildhorn could corrupt. It's still very much speculation on my part, but are we sure corrupting turns that playerbad? Or is corrupting more of a technique to cause little minor changes in behavior? Like changing their votes or speaking for them? I'll give more thought into it, but I am wondering what those words are in the middle of the PM that Golden thinks he solved.

I saw Sloonei's post about LC and that is very intriguing to me. There seems to be a growing faction of players that have suspected him throughout the game and while you could claim majority bias, lynching him would let us learn a lot about people that have been accusing him all game. At this juncture, I don't have the strongest vibe on LC, but it might not be a bad idea humor those suspicions for a sec.

be back later. REJOICE IN THE GAY HARMONY!

Metalmarsh89 wrote:@Scotty. I appreciate you looking out for me. Unfortunately, I'm still on my phone, so can't give you a detailed response at this moment. Well I could, but that is too much work, and I can do it later on a computer.
Looking forward to your response. I understand you're traveling, so no rush.
Metalmarsh89 wrote:As for the statements I made about Golden being NK'd, I really did forget. Golden and I have also developed this trend where every game we play, one of us does by Day 3 (and this is our 8th or even 9th game together), so it would be quite an accomplishment if we both survive to tomorrow. The heart attack statement was in jest.
Fair enough.

Another thing that is making me uneasy is your general ease and nonchalance about you. Maybe that's how you play usually, I don't know. But it would seem to me that you are being overly cautious and calculated in making sure you don't rile up anyone's feathers (except maybe LC). You're not pinging me as much as sig was early on, because at least you have a target and you've stuck with him. You're the person that I would :eye: if LC is ever to perish.

Re: [Day 3] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I don't know how you guys usually do it here, but on JTM if you don't vote in 2 consecutive days, you are disqualified. I like that rule. People like DREAM who have literally posted once but havent been replaced are really bringing us down. Like, real life takes priority for sure, but at least occasionally checking in gives us something

Re: [Day 3] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

FZ. wrote:Random question: Scotty, what do you think of LC? LC, what do you think of Scotty?
Just found this scrolling back through the day.

LC is an interesting case. I haven't had a strong opinion either way, mostly because he has been mired in a cyclical feud with Golden for the past 10 pages or so. Honestly, the more both of them bicker on about trivial who-is-right and who-is-the-opposite-of-right, the more I want to tune them out.
That isn't to say that neither are putting forth thoughtful responses to each other's suspicions to help influence their civ/scum reads, I just prefer not to focus on it right now. I think there's almost no likelihood of both being bad. A higher likelihood of 1 or none being bad. Wouldn't surprise me actually if 1 is independent. But I'm not focusing on them right now.
All I will say right now is I'm leaning maybe civ/independent on LC. Same goes for Golden though.

If I can make it through Team 1's kill tonight, I'm gonna double back and scavenge for other people that have raised red flags for me that I've already suspected and those not really talked about, like this guy:
Metalmarsh89 wrote:Nothing would make me happier than you and I surviving this next day and night phase Golden. You nearly gave me a heart attack last night.

Metalmarsh89 wrote:I'd forgotten that Golden survived a nightkill, and I think that makes him look a little better.

Quite the heart attack indeed...

When I asked for help in decoding the Day 0 PM, you basically did nothing of help:

Not at all. All I want is to lynch Long Con.

I think I have been quite helpful and have offered some keen observations.
So in response to my plea for help with the PM, you disregard it with a vague statement. Can you help me with pointing to what help you've brought to the discussion pertaining to the PM? Because I may have missed it somewhere...

Listen, it's is your prerogative if you don't feel that sharing that info with the group is beneficial to the civ game. But I'm under the impression that more info is a good thing that can help in deductions. Because we're all sorta in the dark here. Does it maybe help the mafia too? Probably. But I think the benefit is greater for res to have the info, and by withholding that info without cause or concern is truly suspicious from my point of view.

I plan to go into a more detailed analysis before night ends tomorrow, but for now I need to go to bed...this goofy dude has been all over the place. I implore others to look through his dialogue on Wednesday, especially, leading up to sig's imminent death, especially
-his feelings toward sig before sig votes pick up traction
-while they pick up traction (you'll notice he decides to look into sig's history to see what all the hubub is about)
-and the 2 hours before the definitive kill when sig is all but dead.

There's even the likelihood that LC is very bad and I might owe you an apology for tunneling on you, like I did with sig. You seem like a cool and whacky guy in general ;airguitar:

Re: [Day 3] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

My first instinct on decoding that PM is that it's West Side Story, if "police" really is a word used. Of all the shows, that's the only show with a prominent use of the police. Officer Krupke is a bumbling patsy trying to keep the kids straight. Protecting on odd nights and role checking every night??

Now I really hope Epi 1.0 wasn't West Side and Dom's song lyrics were just flavor text...

Wow ok, sorry I totally missed this buried way back when. Wish you had brought it up again sooner!

can you expand on that? Were there any words that didn't repeat anywhere so maybe we can start deducing what role this belongs to? did it say the word police? capitalized, like the band, maybe?
