DFaraday wrote:Upon closer inspection, mine also mentions "role" "check", and "memory." Check only came up once, so I missed it when I glanced at it the first time, but it looks like our PMs are definitely about the same thing then.
OK, now this is interesting to me. Why would we get the same message about a role? I was 2 and you were, what, 26? I see no correlation as of now with the numbers anyone picked and what our messages mean.
Maybe some roles aren't included in the PMs, which would explain why some people got similar PMs talking about "two" and "time."

Re: [Day 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I'm gonna ask again straight-

IF YOU HAVEN'T COMMENTED ABOUT THE PM DOM SENT YOU, AND DON'T HAVE TIME TO MAKE SENSE OF IT, OR ARE STILL THINKING ON IT, POST DEM KEY WORDS so we can start making sense of it.

Also, I'm realizing I'm making myself easy bait for Night 1 lynch, but eh. I like puzzles and can't help myself. :omg:

I wholeheartedly disagree. But that's a conversation for another day (or PM). Love seeing someone so musically inclined. Next time I'm in NYC I MUST see Fun Home and Hamilton though.
Heh. As you will. It's a show that panders to a particular blue-haired crowd I feel. The girl next to me fell asleep in Act 1. Also, this time Jefferson Mays was out, which literally killed the show (the understudy didn't do the part justice unfortunately, and while i like to root for the U/S, his part carries the show. And the actor just didn't.)

Re: [Day 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

DFaraday wrote: I hope that's not a shot at The King and I. :noble:

Actually, no. It can't be King and I. Try again. That's not an available role, and I doubt Dom would throw that in there for shits.
Gumshoe wrote:My pm mentioned Sondheim, Brown, Schwartz, and Hammerstein together. It also repeated "lyricist" and "3/4" over and over. I think it may be Schwartz's role and I don't think he's a threat to us but I obviously can't be certain.
I don't think it is Schwartz.
3/4 could be a victory condition for the independent in question. That 3/4 of either Sondheim, Brown, Schwartz and Hammerstein must be dead for (x) to win. Which makes me believe it isn't talking about Schwartz, since he's included in that; but rather Lippa or Rodgers. (Though Rodgers worked with Hammerstein a lot, so I'd gander 60/40 that it's Lippa)

As we go on with these, I think it's important we keep track somewhere. I'm gonna keep an excel spreadsheet of possibilities. If anyone gives 2 shits about my opinion and wants my PM reads as we go on, let me know and I'll post what I have.

Re: [Day 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

Golden wrote:My PM was full of stuff about stopping time, a second day will follow, and a lot of conditional stuff about 'if lynched' or 'if they die'. And something about a song cycle.

I wonder if the one mentioning all the independents, the 3/4 was not a waltz but actually something about 3/4 independents surviving.

I've tried looking at every second word, every third word etc, or trying to mesh sentences together, but it doesn't really work. I've tried applying the number 17 (my number) to it, but can't find any relevance. Has anyone been able to find any relevance from their number?
I also can't find a relevance to my number (2). What I did was find the most common words that could string together phrases, cross out the multiples of words, and take out any words that weren't words because they were spliced with 2 separate words.

"if they die, a second day will follow." sounds like they must be killed twice. Song cycle? Well, let's see. Songs for a New World is an obvious one. Unless there's more you can think of, I think that's the role your PM is referring to, Golden.

Lyricist could apply to any of those names. And 3/4 is a time signature indicative of a waltz. Mine was something about "revived" and "most overrated". I hope that's not a shot at The King and I. :noble:

OK.
The overrated revival thing sounds like mine, but there's probably a major difference. Were there any other words that didn't repeat or otherwise looked like they didn't belong, @DFaraday? It could be King and I.

Re: [Day 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

Just got back from work and seeing Gentlemen's Guide. Man what a blah show that was. I've seen it twice now & wouldn't recommend it, even if it won best Musical.

Anyway, I want to focus on these PMs.
Golden wrote:So it appears we have only a few PMs between us, and that multiple of us got ones that were the same or at least very similar.

It is a shame we can't quote them but I think we can verify if they are the same. Mine contained 102 words, 13 full stops, 7 commas. It did not conclude with a full stop or with a natural sentence end. Does this align with others who had something about stopping time and having a second day?
Interesting. So I'm gonna conform to Dom's wishes and will only conjecture with some bits of my PM even though I think I extracted 1-2 complete sentences with mine over the past day.

I'll try and do more conjecturing on reads of people tomorrow (if I have time before work), but for now I would invite everyone that hasn't responded with their keywords from their PMs do so . It would be very helpful to see if we can determine the myriad of roles we're dealing with in this game. Don't you think?

In unscrambling my sentence, it led me with a few keywords such as revival, overrated, Memory, and role check. It has 84 words, 5 full stops, 3 commas, 1 period.

Based on the facts that
1) Memory is the main song from Cats, and
2) Cats is about to be revived again (god help us) and
3) It's universally overrated

I'm thinking my PM is pertaining to Cats. And on top of that, I'm leaning this role having the ability to role check. My sentence also had the words "single" and "time" strewn in. Which adds up for me to believe this role can role check only once.

I will post more of my Pm late tonight when I get off work, but i feel like we should hear from everyone today on their info and get it out in the open before lynchings come down. Probably better to get that out sooner rather than later.

Sorry to keep getting you roped back into this, Luffy. For now I'm keeping you neutral-civ in my book til Canuck makes an appearance.

Now if what Nutella said is true, it would make sense that maybe the PMs are hints at what the roles/shows do in this game?

Re: [Day 1] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

So I've been doing some Zodiac Killer type shit with my message last night and I'll get to my ideas on that in a bit after work, but this post has me questioning:
Dragon D. Luffy wrote:I almost got lynched day 1. But I managed to talk myself out of it.

Now it's day 2 and suddenly I got a lot of vote analysis to do.

While here, there are like 15 players I don't know and which I have to do ISOs of and decide what to think about.

This ain't gonna work. I'm gonna start procrastinating and both games are gonna suffer for it.
I get it, having split focus in this type of game is probably not the best idea. But psychologically, what variable would have him choose the other game over this? More relevancy? Or just that he doesnt know people here? I'm willing to bet it's the former.
Now what would make him most relevant? Could be that he has a role or is mafia in the other game. I don't know exactly. Not gonna speculate about the other game in so much as it seems that THIS game he has less of a role. So I'm willing to BET that he is probably roleless in this game. Am I reading too much into nothing?

Either way, welcome Cancucklehead!

I don't have anything to add to the Epi-LC-SVS discussion.

Also, sorry Long Con. I had you and Forge Digger mixed up from the JTM game. MY BAD. I take back what I said aboutcha. :puppy:

Re: [Day 0] Bullets Over Broadway Mafia

I know this was somewhat talked about earlier in the thread by MP or someone, but is this Day 0 thing 48 hours straight into Night 0 or night 1 or day 1? I'm kinda confused, and can't find a FAQ that can help me out on this site. Any help is appreciated!

Here's the general rule I use with new players. If it comes down to a vote that's based on very little, I'll probably avoid going for them in the spirit of community friendliness. If there's a bigger or more stand-out suspicion on a new player, then I'll probably vote for them despite their newness.

I'm not too pinged by this truce thing, and I don't know what to think about the shoving match between MP and Epig yet.

Linki: I also suspect Gumshoe and Devin of being criminally fraternal in some subtle way. :smoky:
Weren't you mafia last game? I do remember you personally leading a preemptive charge against me Day 1 for my first mafia game, and then proceeding to night kill me Night 1. Which was slightly irritating for my first game, but hey, that's the game. Correct me if I'm wrong with my info tho. :flamed:

Basically this :noble:
I don't give a fuck, y'all can vote for me whenever you want, if you want. Just keep in mind that the most recent mafia game I played my day 3 scum reads list was 5/6 accurate and I got MVP. I don't know you guys as well as that crowd but I do have decent instincts.
You were MVP? I didn't know that.

Also I agree with Sig on the point of not excluding new members (like me) in the lynch early if they appear scummy. Scum needs a good powerwash. And I am for hire! I charge by the minute tho. :keys:

What happens if we contradict numbers? Is it prudent that we work as a team of sorts so there are no repeats?

I'll take 2.
