Re: [NIGHT 5] Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)

You scold Matt for "trying to get people modkilled," but J3's actions had been interpreted similarly. Asking the mods to clarify espers' status the moment he goes over 72 hours without posting could be seen as a more tactful way to achieve the same end.

Re: [NIGHT 5] Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)

Thanks MM, but there are flaws with that as well. I lack, as J3 has said, a sense of urgency. If I'm committing myself to remain calm then I have to deaden the importance of the situation, and controlled panic can be a good thing.

Sorry about that earlier J3, I forgot to add the actual statement. If you had to be stranded on the moon with three people from this game, which three would you take to avoid getting stabbed in the back?

Re: [DAY 5] Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)

I do. I assume that I know you better than anyone else here, and I don't want to make any false assumptions about you. I did make assumptions before day 3, and it was fun, but to be honest since then I've been hung up on day 2. I just noticed that you use the word conclusions. Why is this? Have you game solved already? Should the game have been already solved by others?
You know me better than anyone else here, true, but because of that you should have something to work with. I use the word conclusions to imply a process. An example below:

Player X has been posting strangely (observation)
Is it likely that Player X Mafia? (question)
Exhibit A, B, etc (evidence)
It is likely that Player X is Mafia (conclusion)

You know this.

No, the player you subbed for just missed votes, so I don't have the intel to properly judge your actions and interactions.

I don't know how the RYM forum handles nested quotes, but a lot of the "wall of text" syndrome that's been going on this game has been from people continually quoting each other without properly snipping the quotes. To be fair, sometimes the relevant posts are far back in the quote chain, but it gets ridiculous, especially on mobile.

Re: [DAY 5] Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)

Also a post got eaten. I agree that drawing the immediate conclusion of "that extra tab increases the likelihood that he is Mafia" is illogical. I have a tab on the first page of any game I'm actively posting in. At the moment I also have two open for the sock game that recently concluded as well. Tab count, similar to post count, does not a Mafia make.

Motel, he already did. He was penalized for non-participation, and in the rules it states that players in that category can't win the game.

On the topic of espers, he was the first to respond to me. He asked why I was concerned about getting lynched, when I had posted that I would still be mostly silent for about two days. He has not responded or otherwise engaged me since.

For what it's worth, I believe that Mac's reaction to Matt F's accusation looks good. Timeline of his responses spoilered below:
Spoiler: show
10:58 - Laughs at how "tragically hilariously wrong" Matt F is.
10:59 - Responds to me, saying the entire scenario is too likely, implying Matt F is the real Serial Killer.
11:03 - Sarcastically asks the hosts to confirm that the Mafia cannot be the Serial Killer.
11:04 - Explains that making the poster for Matt F's lynch was for amusement.
11:05 - Says he didn't notice the italics on the word "job" because he was too busy teasing Matt F.
11:06 - Says he might make a big post giving reasons why everyone in this game is an idiot.
11:08 - Suggests the possibility that the failed kill was performed by the civvie kill role and made to look like the SK's kill by some other role.
11:18 - States anger at Matt F for sucking at Mafia and begins looking through the roles for an explanation.
11:25 - First attempted explanation of the events of last night.
11:30 - Gloats.
11:32 - Claims his theory (his words) is in fact an explanation.
11:37 - Responds to MM's overeager prods by calling the rest of us dumb shits playing like idiots.
11:41 - Goes back to not giving a shit.
11:54 - Calls MM, Epi, and I jerkwads who are confirmed scum.
There's no attempt at any sort of logical defense for roughly half an hour. I believe if he was Mafia then there's a good chance he would've attempted to explain away the accusation, even if with the same response, earlier. He reads chaotic, but not panicked, to me. You others who know him can decide if that's "normal" behavior or not.

Roxy, I'm sorry for your loss. Pets are family too, and it's hard when their time is up.

Mac, the reason I'm frustrated is because I don't see a standard. I don't know what is and isn't allowed, all I know is there are rules about not being an ass. Then I see you calling people jerkwads, idiots, dumbshits, saying someone's penis will shrivel up inside them. I don't care about the language, my home site has zero filter and I honestly prefer it that way. This is infuriating because I'm trying to adhere to these rules that I have no objective measure of while you clearly don't care what comes out of your mouth and have made a game of spouting shit out of boredom. That's why I got fed up with you yesterday.

Re: [DAY 5] Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)

Sorsha's role card says that she decides the winner Night 4, that it requires some form of input from her on Night 4. I find it extremely unlikely that hosts would allow Sorsha to decide the winner of Night 4 post-mortem and then come into the thread and leave the question at best intentionally vague. I find that scenario would be very strange and more than likely not the case.

Also, J3, I want to engage in a debate with you later tonight about something. Going out for a few hours now, but just a heads up for later.

There's a Little Mac joke in there somewhere but I'm too lazy to find it. Choutas I disagree with your assessment of Mac during Matt F's push for him at the beginning of the day. I'll explain why when I return.

Mafia that don't kill every night can inherit a killer's powers when that killer dies and can then kill every night? I am apparently unfamiliar with certain trends on this site, including the "must be alive to win" clause present in most games. I don't get it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but go ahead and publicly mock me.

MM, counting roles that have secrets it could be a few. Animals, Houses In Motion, Love For Sale, No Compassion, and the Psycho Killer himself. That's a good point MM. There's also something to keep in mind about several roles, there are secret clauses. We don't know every detail of the Psycho Killer's role, and while improbable, I don't think it impossible that there exists some way of "double killing" on a given night.

Mac, the phrase "I trust you idiots will make the right decision" would imply that you think we're right, but unintelligent. If you're going to take this in a joking manner the least you could do is not contradict yourself.

Ya all can do what you wish, but I'm tellin' ya, he's the SK and I think we should lynch him.
So you're saying that Sorsha, Found a Job, targeted Mac and someone else last night. The challenge was something related to "posters" or "memes." So the SK must've been targeted by Sorsha and won the challenge. The poster Mac made stood out to you as a likely challenge. That sounds pretty logical, actually.

Epi, civilian Ninja (if I understand it correctly) is extremely different from a 3rd party Serial Killer. The SK's only concern is reducing numbers and self-preservation, it doesn't bother with allegiance. The civilian Ninja has to win with town, so automatically they should be cautious when killing someone.

I lack "fall backs" this game, Wilgy? Plan B's, of sorts?

In a perfect world where we know exactly who the SK is we should lynch that player over Mafia. By lynching the SK we remove one kill per night, by lynching a Mafia, assuming that's the last member, we remove one kill every other night. While it isn't necessarily feasible to isolate SK behavior from town or Mafia behavior, lynching the SK would reward us more than lynching a Mafia.

I have not read the entire thread, and at this moment do not intend to unless asked to. I read through where my first post was up, and I very loosely skimmed the early pages of the game until I got to that post. I saw you were still alive, so I figured that was as good a place to start as any. Apologies if that sounds lazy, especially compared to the amount of work you put in to ISO every player with regards to Long Con, but I'd rather spend that time with current events.

As for calling attention to myself, if you'll take an obviously biased answer, it's a defense mechanism. By getting people to acknowledge me and converse either with or about me it becomes harder to misinterpret things I say, intentionally or otherwise, or for a wagon to form on me without the thread's opinions on me already known. If Wilgy, for instance, were to say on Day 3 that he thought I was neutral-townish then if he was calling for my head on Day 4, without any evidence specifically from Day 4, then that points to ulterior motives. It also serves to marginally dissuade the Mafia from night killing mes, as there'd be a good amount of information to draw from after I flip. Also I loathe being ignored, so the easiest way to avoid that is to make odd requests such as "would you ISO me?" or ask other players what they think of my allegiance.

I don't have an aptitude for catching things I'm not already looking at. You unnerve me, so I'm not going to take my eye off you. I'm focused on bcornett for a similar reason, although there are differences. I'm a symbiotic player, I work best playing off someone else, so I want to believe you're town because we could , but I've fallen in that hole before so I'm remaining cautious. As for bcornett, it's a similar kind of gut read, I see some kind of nervousness or tension in his posts that makes me hesitate. Similarly to you, I'd prefer to keep playing to my strengths, but if you want me to expand my view I can try.

That's what I'm seeing with you. You're holding to your Long Con analyses, which are good sources of information, but seem to be almost ignoring new, relevant information. You're quick to call people town, which on its own isn't a bad thing, but it's off-putting for some reason I can't put my finger on. You play the cooperative townie, not confrontational but prodding with just enough frequency to get responses.

I know there's no fair defense to what mostly amounts to a gut feeling, and I apologize for that.

I didn't do all those analyses because I was bored, I did them because it allowed me to make substantive reads on nearly every player. I'm quite sure I wasn't right about everything, but I am confident enough in my skillset that I will trust my work until given a reason not to.

I think you need to reassess me though if you think I've been "not confrontational". I might not sound like a hyper-aggressive player because of the language I employ, but I have directly confronted so many people in this game on just about everything. I am highly confrontational.
"not confrontational" was admittedly a poor choice of words. I'm used to "confrontational" being equivalent to "tunneling on someone until they crack." Your tone is also less aggressive, almost sing-songy, than I usually equate with aggression, if that makes sense.

Re: [NIGHT 4] Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)

A general apology to Syndicate players if I incorrectly assume something of their habits or posting style. My first game with the vast majority of Syndicate players was a sock game, so it'll take a while before I get used to everybody.

I'm glad I've evoked a chuckle. I aim to please.

Where exactly did bcornett go?

Also Mac, if you're offering to step up your game if I state lynching intent then by all means you're my top suspect.

By the way J3 I'm voting for you.
Can a man get a reason?
My home site, Jesus Toast Mafia, is named after a term we coined "Jesus Toast." It's seeing Christ on rye, so to speak, some big conspiracy that ties everything up in a neat little bow when there's really nothing there.

There are like 5 comments were gives people hugs. I tend to have an issue with seeing 1/8th of a persons content being "/hug". I think it makes him suspicious and would probably place him on the lighter side of orange in a revised rainbow.

I will also say I understand how difficult it is to catch up, this thread is massive and has so much content, and it keeps generating more. A lot to remember, and even more to comprehend.

As I previously stated what I gave earlier was mostly gut reads, working on analysis, diiny is up next.

With regard to JJJ:

I agree, having more posts is generally better, but this is not to say that it could not be potentially used to dissuade reads. I am not saying that JJJ is doing this, I am saying that it is possible that he could be. Strategically speaking, it is a great idea, have so many posts that nobody wants to analyze it. I mean he has 7 pages of 50 posts, this is almost 300 posts and it is only day 4.
His quirks in posting don't invalidate his other points. Do you legitimately have a problem with 7/8ths of his contribution just because the other 1/8ths is silly?

That relies on our laziness, and especially in such a large game, is an extremely risky gambit. I'm not saying that posting frequently makes him look good, just that it doesn't make him look bad. Strategically speaking it's a horrible idea, giving the opposing team more evidence to work with when information is our greatest asset.

bcornett, now that you've "just caught up", would you kindly answer the question I've asked you multiple times? Why do you find Wilgy to be "probably scum"?

Floyd, I have a question. How much of the game have you read?

And, to others, Floyd is not a replacement, correct?
