I love to receive movie references that are meaningful in context. Jay's doing a really great job using the resources that he has to provide content ( which is the best present a girl could ask for).
Speaking of clever use, I don't suppose that Quin is buying me more expensive dishes every time he sees someone he suspects, and cheaper ones when he likes them? Or perhaps the other way around? It would be nice to figure that out, but in the meantime I'm enjoying all the delicious food he's ordering.

@Quin and @ Kylemii: As much as I harbour serious suspicions against both of you, I will NOT cast a vote against either of you this Day phase on principle. Just thought you should know - at this point I will not take advantage of your impediments and I condemn those players that foisted these intolerable conditions upon you.

If I’m being honest here, this is one of the things I really detest about these games. If I had an ability to influence someone’s posting ability like this, I swear I’d never employ it on principle. Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]
EoD takes place in under an hour. I still have substantial content to review in this thread and as such, feel uncomfortable in casting a vote at this stage. I actively dislike the current wagons (i.e. Mac, even Kyle - I want to give him more time, and especially Sloonei). My involvement between now and EOD will be patchy at best. I’ll try to keep up to speed as best I can but that is going to be VERY limited (I am at work and getting smashed as I type this). I trust you all appreciate my predicament. Thank you.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]
It would be very limited, my friend. You and Jay would top it. There’d be a handful of people who would appear in the next tier down like our friend MacDougall then a whole bunch of people about whom I have reservations like Quin and Kyle. Then there’s Chuckles and Jack (whilst reading him Town earlier) seems to be in free-fall, Made who confuses the hell out of me. Then there’s a bunch of people like Wilgy, Sig & Co that I haven’t seen enough of to make any kind of judgement yet.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]
I’m surprised by this. This is your second consecutive post where you’ve used sound sentence construction, proper use of punctuation and near-perfect spelling. Just who are you and what have you done with our Sig?sig wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2018 1:41 pmWell hello there, looks like I've kinda caught up. So I'm going to post a few thoughts when they're still fresh from my catch up then I've gotta go for a run and will be back to ISO and reread some things later. What I'm seeing right now is we have a major three way smack down going on between Jay, Sloonie and Jack which I still don't really get. Mac is prodding, but as someone pointed out he's acting much more mellow which is odd, quin/kyle have both been under some suspicion which I'm not sure is justified based on there game play/what people are accusing them of and we have a fair amount of new players.
I'm reading Glorf as solid town and a few other players as lean towns who I've already listed. The main issue I'm having right now is that I don't see anyone being scummy.
Kyle had some odd early game posts, but I think has come back from it.
Made and nutella both look okay to me, but I'm curious why she placed me so far down on her list.
I'd like to see some more posts by Wilgy, Eloh, MM, and the newer players I feel like a few posters have the vast majority of posts/content which could let scum wallflower and not be noticed. I also find it odd that Wilgy isn't being as active/odd as he usually is. This could point to him being scum and trying to live longer, but seeing how often he's mislynched I don't think I'd vote for him.
LC is looking good I'd rather not lynch him.
Speed pinged me a bit, but I can't remember why so I'll need to go back and check.

I guess I would say right now... my willingness to push angles that other people aren't i.e. with the Sloonei thing.
Honestly the strongest indication of my civvie-ness is that my mafia playstyle is prohibitively distinctive. My natural anxiety takes the wheel more than I'd like it to and my activity plummets. It's not a weakness I've learned to overcome yet but when I do, I'll probably be unstoppable.
being town read on day 1 is not really even a priority for me though. I almost prefer not to be. lots of people town reading me early and the mafia responding with murder has been my leading cause of death lately. If I knew a way to float in people's yellows and lighter greens for the first couple days of mafia without sacrificing my ability to be an effective civ player I would 100% use it.
I guess that doesn't really help you with your specific conundrum. if you ask me the same question in 2 days I'll probably have a more specific answer.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]
Day 5 - Key take-aways:
Not a great deal to report this page. Elements of off topic and flavour discussion.
Nutella joins the game with a handful or superficial reads but interestingly makes no reference to Jay other than to remark about his poll theorising - otherwise, looks harmless enough.
Kyle is still feeling somewhat stilted and awkward but his content is improving (i.e. his hypothesising about Made’s previous peculiar behaviour).
The page ends with this reads list from Made - kinda makes me wonder if we’re playing the same game. Quin his strongest Town? Wilgy second after having posted twice? Jay and Sloonei bringing up the rear? MacDougall rock bottom after only a couple of posts???
Based on what I’ve read so far, best of luck with that, Sir!

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]
Day 4 - Key take-aways:
Page 4 starts with Made accusing Sloonei of being bad (don’t know how else to interpret ‘a more rosey and inviting red’). As I’d said previously, at this point I can see the suspicion being justified, Sloonei asks for an explanation and what follows from Made (i.e. allegation of being Indy) is in my view bizarre. Sloonei’s pursuit of Made looks good in my opinion and I think Made looks far worse for it. Jay Townfirms Sloonei and on the face of it, I think I’d agree. As for Made, I can’t fathom what they’re doing here - it looks more ill-conceived that malicious.
Chuckles is back and I’m confused by this post above - specifically his remark about “Tone-wise he’s meta town”. I can’t tell whether he’s referring to Kyle or Quin? @Speedchuck
I feel like this post should be significant. I find myself agreeing with Kyle here that Quin’s ‘only real suspect’ is weird. I’m not in any position to comment on Quin being a goofball - that has not been my experience of him since we’ve been playing together.
Sloonei Town reads Made - which as I alluded to earlier kinda makes some sense.
We have an exchange between Sloonei and Chuckles with respect to Made. Again, a really good look for Sloonei and Chuckles still feels (to me) ‘uncomfortable’.
Eloh joins the game complaining about having to catch up four pages?
Jack enters the thread, sounds OK. My biggest concern here seems to be Chuckles - not getting a great vibe.

I overlooked that question before when I read through the first time, when I reread things to try to figure out Made's deal, I felt bad that I'd left the asker hanging so i responded.
I don't really tend to be the type of player who does a lot of early prodding if other players are already doing it. On day 0's and 1's I prefer to watch and analyze the proddings that are already happening until something catches my attention.

I’ve already addressed this matter this game and will not allow it to become a distraction. Case closed.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 5:48 pmI always hope a nonliar is playing a long con and this kinda behavior will come back to bite you.
Never happens. Just comes back to bite the nonliar and frustrate their teammates.
One time, I was in a monster mafia game and our resident non liar claimed Godzilla, who had killed in the writeup. Everyone believed him of course and he won the game...as mafia. Godzilla kills other monsters after all.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]
Page 3 - Key take-aways:
We’re only on page 3 but this post seems to reinforce my concerns about Kyle. He’d made no attempt to engage with anyone until this point (perhaps deliberately) and now this exchange appears clumsy and awkward. It leaves me wondering if this may just be a ‘Kyle thing’ and not something that may perhaps be alignment indicative.
Here we have Chuckle’s entrance into the game - again, appears a little awkward. “plus or minus 30% my friend? That’s one hell of a margin for error! I’m not sure I see the point of this read on Quin.
Dave enters the game, states that he is new (alarms ringing here in respect of future votes on him) and sheeps Jay’s take on the poll. Not usually a bad person to sheep on (off?) but not a fan of his logic on this matter as I’d discussed in an earlier post.
This page I’m seeing more from Sloonei (i.e. strategising about poll selections, thoughts on Quin). Not completely sold on the Quin thing but his posts strike me as considered, thoughtful and genuine. Town read starting to firm.
Entrance by novaselinever seems unremarkable. I get a sense of trepidation on their part entering the game which in my view is well justified. I wish them and Dave the very best this game.
Increasing discomfort with Chuckles. Can’t quite put my finger on it but he is seriously driving a null read for me here. Looking forward to see how things develop with him.

Well, it was not obvious to me, my friend. You could’ve told me that? Why didn’t you? I think you not ‘particularly liking the way I framed a quite legitimate question to Jay (in my humble opinion) to be in and of itself peculiar.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 4:26 pmI could have told Glor this. My comments are based on the posts that I read on PAGE ONE of Night 0, my friend. I don’t know whether Kyle is bad (I kinda hope not) but based on what I’ve read so far I am open to the possibility. Do you have anything to offer that would help me come to a conclusive opinion of him?

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 1]
Page 2 - Key take-aways:
Continued discussion and conjecture about the role of the poll. If Kyle was trying to create a smoke screen, he appears to have been successful (not that the conjecture wasn’t without some level of interest).
MacDougall loses 10 points for reminiscing on the Star Wars game - my first here at The Syndicate and one I’ve spent the past two+ years trying to forget.
I see the reasoning being put forward by those arguing for visiting the Outworld first up but you’ll have to forgive me my cautious nature here. If the logic being applied is that some advantage accrues to the ‘home team’ for any of these places, starting the game by giving an advantage to the bad guys hardly makes any sense to me. I’ll be taking note of those players that voted for this option first up - it might potentially be very useful later on.
Yeah, see this is the Quin I was expecting to find here this game. It’s early but I wonder if we’re seeing the beginning of an anti-Quin agenda in the making?

Page 1 - Key take-aways:
I personally didn’t think much of this post from Kyle. To my mind, it looks like an attempt to appear to engage with his fellow players by giving them a task to perform. Subsequent comments in relation to his question makes it appear that he’s generating content without genuine engagement.
Don’t like this from Quin either. Quin’s far too good a player to fall for this and I’d frankly have expected better.
Sloonei buys into Kyle’s question and provides valid content - a good look from Sloonei here.Sloonei wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 1:29 amEarthrealm is the mundane sphere, the netherrealm is the underworld, the outworld is the great void beyond. Chaos and orderrealm are the realms of competing energies, and Edenia is the blissful state at the nexus of all of them. I've also never played these games and just made that up. What are you going to base your vote off of?
Votes in this poll are not changeable.
While I’m inclined to skepticism of Jay’s read on Kyle, I think his evaluations of Quin and Sloonei are valid however based on the limited content this page.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 1:35 am Kyle is town because "let's go" is the thing he said when his confidence surged post-mafioso lynch as a civilian.
Sloonei is town because he's already trying to facilitate true to form.
Quin is mafia because he called Kyle's question "good" without clarifying why he cared about the question or why it moved him.

Re: Mortal Kombat Mafia [Day 0]
Again, there is no need to apologise, Jay. Of all the people I’ve met playing these games, there is no one whom I hold in higher regard than you for your intellect, reason, passion for the game and your integrity. You did what you felt you needed to do and it worked out for you - and I respect that. I do think however that it was a potentially a risky strategy (had I actually been Town). I will likely return to my policy of permanent non-declaration of my alignment after this game so whilst it worked out for you in Mad Max, I’d counsel you to think twice in future.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 6:08 pm Oh by the way, Glorfindel, I totally took advantage of that in the Mad Max game and it was lame of me to do that. I've played on a number of sites but most recently here and Mafia Universe
Yes, you can see from my profile that I've been here at The Syndicate for just over two years (where I think I've become a legend for all the WRONG reasons
I've played with almost everyone here unless they're very new and I feel quite excited to be back playing with them.
