Re: The Simpsons [DAY 3]

also thinking that they know I'm a villager

their treatment of me is a bit uncharacteristic

she also doesn't react back to the people that are town reading her and doesn't look into them and calls them town, which she almost never does as a town, especially seeing that their latest M.O to catching wolves is figuring out people's reads on them.

didn't react to me, bart, hugh in a meaningful way to sorting our alignment and the alison reaction I believe wasn't really reasonable.

i think this is one of the only reads that are a tad bit >rand atm, especially after 2 days of no fucking content because we keep yeeting the inactives

Bart's MO as a town to catching wolves is to react to people's reads on them

but as a wolf, you don't wanna do that because you wanna accept the town reads on yourself, and they've been town reading almost everyone that placed a town read there : me, bart, tried to fake a progression on caring about how Hugh treated them but didn't go anywhere.

also they seem to have town reads that are sprouting out of nowhere on a few actives which reads uncharacteristic too

that's all, later

Re: The Simpsons [DAY 3]

i could be reading the Mac wolf read thing wrong and he actually meant "I can see why Mac thought Gramps was a wolf because he is not a syndicat"

in which case it'd still look bad and it's still a defense of Gramps just because he's a CFCer

there's pretty much nothing to the read at all, although I can sorta see that progression as coming from a town perspective too

sucks that I can't get my teeth into a better scum read so I can sort Burns off of that flip

I keep pushing myself off Burns because, given our play style difference there's the argument of "man, maybe this guy just has his usual weird ass perspectives that I never get and that's why I think he's scum"

if people town read them then I guess I'll just oblige and look for another wolf in the PoE but it's not my fault if we lose to him

Mr. Burns wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2020 3:25 pm Twenty posts in and I like Krusty so far. I think he has a clear misunderstanding with Grandpa that is probably really easy to point out...for anyone other than the two of them...and that everything else he has said (except some obligatory empty jokes) was pretty solid town mindset.

In the Grandpa/Marge/Krusty triangle the only thing that doesn't seem to make sense from town is exactly what Grandpa pointed out...
Mr. Burns wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2020 6:44 pm If Grampa is someone who has never heard of Mac then this is probably all pretty annoying/mystifying.
Mr. Burns wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2020 11:26 pm That was either just plain awful or a perfect roleplay of Grampa Simpson and I can't decide which I am thinking.
Mr. Burns wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2020 2:08 am Grampa I have as low hanging fruit that may or may not be a wolf. I figure enough people are chasing him around that he is gonna get sorted so I'm paying more attention to how the chasers chase than I am to him.
Mr. Burns wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2020 3:39 am If I look at Gramps, will you look at the Marge/Homer thing that I haven't sorted out yet?
Mr. Burns wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2020 1:15 am I have reread the entire thread though, with an eye on Grampa Simpson. My first observation is that he is a native of CFC and that explains a LOT about how this game has gone for him. His disputes on day one struck me very much as two people talking past each other, where both made sense to me but neither seemed able to follow the other.

As an example, Marge is playing from "Syndicate wolves work hard, so Homer's gif posting goof offery is not wolfy." Grampa is playing from "I didn't really say it was wolfy, I said it was bad." He arrives, reasonably, at "why are you defending bad play?" while Marge is still on the idea that it isn't bad play, it's 'Syndicate town telling' and Homer is really helping us out with his "light hearted playfulness instead of wolf intensity." Talking past each other.

Since I only play an occasional game on the Syndicate I get it. It's hard to town "the Syndicate way" when you play a lot in places where towns are intense, not woo-foo look at me gif happyfests.

Knowing that Grandpa is not a regular Syndi-cat also makes it easier for me to get around the Mac wolf read. Mac was wrong about me when he thought I was a Syndi-cat too, but backed off when he recognized me. I'm guessing he was seeing a similar "wolfiness" in Grampa.

So I have done what I told Hugh I would do. I don't particularly think Grampa is a wolf...but as a CFCer he always could be a wolf. None of the reasons people have read him as a wolf are really compelling though. Those are just things that if I'd been thinking about it would have been CFC indicative, not alignment indicative.
Mr. Burns wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2020 7:01 pm Krusty, Allison, Bart, Grampa Hugh and Grumple are definitely not getting my vote today.

Two of you, Grampa, and Krusty...but I am afraid that three is all I get really. If I don't hit one in those first three I'm out. If I hit one then I throw a party out all reads and assess based on a red flip.
Mr. Burns wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 5:39 pm Bart...Allison...Hugh...Krusty...Otto...Grampa...any one of them could be a deep wolf. It's starting to look likely that maybe two of them are deep wolves. But I have nothing to sort them with. Like you said about me...all they have done is chop towns.

Sucking up to Principle Skinner noted.

Real men never proofread.
Imho, the whole progression is leaning into obvious TMI of Gramps' alignment and I'm leaning for a w/w progression.

If I were to emphasize something, it'd probably be the read with the most lines on Gramps. Giving a trash reason like he knows Gramps is from CFC and that's why he can see what he's done as reasonable (defending them) and arriving at the classic "nobody's given a proper case, he could be a wolf I guess" so he basically has no read there although he spent like 3 paragraphs talking about how he can see what Gramps has done as reasonable.
Knowing that Grandpa is not a regular Syndi-cat also makes it easier for me to get around the Mac wolf read. Mac was wrong about me when he thought I was a Syndi-cat too, but backed off when he recognized me. I'm guessing he was seeing a similar "wolfiness" in Grampa.
this just looks like plain TMI to me. angles towards Gramps being town for reacting like that to Mac but doesn't outright state it so he wouldn't look bad after a Gramps flip.

it's a bunch of "yeah, I can see this being reasonable" ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE A CFC'er and not related to anything actually game relevant that subtly angles to a defence

and ends in this
I don't particularly think Grampa is a wolf...but as a CFCer he always could be a wolf.

I'd always exe Burns > Gramps > Alison before them prolly

i dunno, I have small things to worry about on both Krusty and Grumple, they both had weird posts on D1 but seemed like they picked off steam later on.

Grumple loosened up a bit and looks a lot less stiff, Krusty loosened up as well and is being a bit more aggressive than D1

but from my perspective we're being played by actives and seeing how the game goes on, I gues it's subconsciously making me go "them being relaxed now is pinging because, presumably, not any one of them or their team are consensus PoE"

and, also, as I mentioned, those bad posts.

Not really scum reading them, it's just PoE approach

I feel like Krusty's progression on their game approach is townier in a vacuum than Grumple's, so yeah

the problem I have with Burns is that he's the one player that I often misread as a town, most likely because of play style differences or stuff, i dunno

but fmpov he's only pushed villagers and has the actives cleared for ~no reason. also, his PoE looks like it's all villagers too.

I just don't see why he's so locked on in the other reads because as far as I'm aware he has no reasons to town read Alison, Bart, Otto, Hugh

unless I'm missing stuff

and idgi, after seeing like 4 town flips in lurkers, you're gonna double down on the lhf PoE instead of questioning the actives that you, again, have apparently no reason to clear?

I think Marge is town. I think Burns is town. Grampa's recent posts have made me doubt my scumread on him a bit. I feel like the thread is descending into an orgy of people nitpicking stuff about each other's posts and/or getting super defensive and lashing out when their own posts gets nitpicked. I think there's a decent number of people active lurking, eating popcorn, and watching the town tear each other into shreds.

I am currently more in favor of putting pressure on inactive people to contribute. I do not agree with Burns that Milhouse coming in to post some random read salad without any explanations or serious pushes is a townie entrance. I'm am concerned that Skinner and Hugh are still AWOL. I am also concerned that Ned Flanders has had three posts the entire day, scumread Burns early on, and then dropped a vote on him without any announcement, after Marge pushed Burns. (If you check the poll you will see that Flanders voted Burns after Marge and Homer voted, even though his suspicion on Burns purportedly came long before.) I do not know what Flanders' progression on the game is or why he is drive by voting Burns at a very convenient timing without saying anything.

So those four are my POE. I trust Otto, Marge, Burns, Grumple and Krusty. I am willing to accept Marge + Homer's testimony that they know who Bart is and that his behavior this game strongly indicates that he is town. I started off with an early Lisa townread, but she has since fallen off. So my 5 townreads + tentatively Bart is my townpool for today. Everyone else who isn't directly in the POE or in my townpool is somewhere in the middle.
Something about this sentence just doesn't sit well with me...it's borderline TMI. Slankers/lurkers certainly need to be addressed at some point, but RD1 it feels an easy way to push a mislynch.

That's not what TMI means - TMI would be me being correct about my accusation of active lurkers and knowing that they are scum because they are in fact scum.

How do you propose we address slankers who post just enough to avoid being subbed out, but not enough to actually contribute? Because I think the thread is in a pretty chaotic state right now, lots of people are pointing fingers at each other, and that is a perfect atmosphere for mafia to lurk in. Therefore I think mafia are going to be very incentivized to slank out D1, especially when they have the cover of "this is a meme game/I'm just staying in character" to hide behind.
I don't think D1 is the time to take out slankers
A thing I've noticed in Krusty's ISO was this, which obviously looks bad in retrospect.

I think it's worth placing under scrutiny, given that now a lot of the slankers flipped town and Krusty had what amounted to no thoughts whatsoever on any lurker, let alone on an active being scum.

[mention]Krusty the Clown[/mention] can you elaborate on why that small thing pinged you so much? Like, Alison wasn't really pushing anyone specific here, she was just making a comment regarding the state of the thread and how she feels about it. She wasn't really pushing anyone specific.

Did you think a lot of the "slankers" were town, or why did this bother you so much?

Also, I asked you a question that you didn't reply to, so please do it this time.

also, your reaction to Otto's attack on you doesn't really match any form of paranoia for Otto being a wolf pushing you there.

i'm not singling you out for a single thought, I'm saying that your thought, which seemed to be presenting a level of skepticism towards the both of them didn't really translate into your posts when defending yourself against Otto.

You didn't bite back or anything, you were kinda just "you're so good at the game and your reads are sooo good mate (sarcastically)" but as a villager I'd expect you to have a lot more bite and also some push back on Otto if you were ACTUALLY concerned they could've been wolfing.

whereas you just said it and didn't really actually think it based on your reaction (imo) as well as after they kinda stopped giving a shit about you, you town read the both of them without any sort of progression in between.

Re: The Simpsons [DAY 3]

I feel like every post I’ve skimmed was pretty bad

The Alison Otto thing about not knowing whether to sheep them or what felt like an afterthought of “oh shit, I just defended myself against Otto’s accusation of me, gotta act like I was thinking about his alignment” (the explanation is still there) and generally felt like a lot of his thoughts weren’t genuine

Like the fact that there “had to be something with Marge and Homer”

No there wasn’t, there was just my read and he was trying to make it look like a bad thing even though he couldn’t even explain why that read was wolfy.

I wasn’t clearing Homer, it’s a silly D1 read and acting like there was something there felt more like him falling back on something to “think about” rather than doing anything with it.

It just generally feels like he has no reads and thus no real direction towards anything. He singled out every single low poster while not having any sort of thought on the active posters.

I do remember seeing him give some reads on other people, but for now, the D1 Allison and Otto thing is enough to make me think he’s a wolf and that didn’t really change.

He hopped to town read them for what I assume to be ~no reason and never re-evaluated.

Kinda feel like he’s just open wolfing and guiding the villagers on the slankers when he doesn’t have any reads on the more active people.

AGAIN, I didn’t see how D2 has gone and what reads he’s given, but the factual stuff that you should take into account are his “oh I gotta act like I thought about their alignment because I didn’t consider it at all and just defended myself” thing that ultimately transcended into town reads on the both of them after he stopped getting heat from them for no reason that I can glean from his ISO, as well as the Homer me thing being a fake thought.

Krusty the Clown wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 10:49 am TBH, Otto is a good deepwolf candidate. He's been universally TR, but the Maf are happy to keep him alive? I dunno, Maf usually take down those kind of townies where I usually play.

His meta lines up with his usual town play, but this is a different forum, and I'll not say the dude is incapable of progressing his game...far from it.

He's still town to me for now, but goddammit Otto, if you're scum? Imma burn your house down.
I have no idea who it is.

Re: The Simpsons Mafia [DAY 1]

oh we can speculate about identities, we just can't claim them

okay yeah, that makes sense, i was gonna say that not having the enjoyment of memeing about mains and how obvious they are take away from meme value

for example, i'll laugh my ass off if Skinner is Wilgy or someone that gets perpetually wagonned and actually dies toDay

it's the small things that make me smile
