Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Night Two

At this point, Matt, you're making ME not like the game very much and you're not even harping on me anymore. You've spent all game attacking people for things that have nothing to do with their role. I actually feel bad for Silver because the early game was hard on her, she said she finally started apparently liking the game, and now she's under attack for liking the game? WTF? I can't imagine ever attacking someone for saying they like a game! BTW, I've LOVED games as a townie, and I've HATED games as a mafia. It means NOTHING. Usually, the thing that dictates my love or hate of a game is people IN THE GAME and how they act. (Like maybe you're doing right now?) Why can't you look at what people actually do in the game and work with that as opposed to who they remember from past games, if they are enjoying the game, or if their name as a Q in it! Go ahead. Give me an ISO on SW's actual gameplay. And stop attacking people because on Tuesdays those who have red hair are scum. :suspish:

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Night Two

Matt: I don't presume to know SilverWolf's inner thoughts. She said she is, and I'm inclined to think she knows her own thoughts best, but she could have also been being sarcastic. Or she could really like how layered this game has become, or she could like it regardless of the frustrations you mentioned (I was super annoyed at one point but I still like the actual game set up. Golden did a great job.) But why are you asking any of us? If you want to know if she's enjoying the game or not you should talk to her instead of at her. And I don't really see how whether or not she likes the game is anything to do with her role. You really like non-play stuff, huh?

1) Matt will probably be my next vote. He and Nutella went back and forth about the zebra thing with me (despite it not having anything to do with this game.) Much of what he's brought against people isn't even gameplay. And he's trying desperately to distance himself from her (must be an RMer who said scum!) and is now saying people I think are townies are bad. Mark my words, the guy is bad.

2) is Vomp always this off topic? That and his self vote are odd

He's trying to get lynched. I think he is not gonna die. There could be civvie reasons for this, but if he were a civvie I doubt he would play them up. He is egging people on, he made a vote that could not save him when he had the most votes, or the second most votes.

He wants to be lynched.
I'll admit, this is what it looks like to me. Epi seems convinced of LC's innocence and while I respect that, the next worst thing to a Mafia member is (in my opinion) a reckless Townie. I think the sortie hijack and his stubborn insistence in not accepting what I think should by now be obvious to everyone suggests a lack of discipline that even if he isn't Mafia isn't going to help us in the long run. I still have time and I am open to being convinced otherwise...
It's not a lack of discipline. LC is one of the most stubborn people I've ever played with and had much mafia discipline. If anything, I think he's using careful discipline in deciding that all cylons must die, even though he believes Athena to be good.

Well crap. I'm headed to dinner and don't want to chance not being back in time. I am really torn between LC and Nutella. Sadly, them being tied for votes doesn't help. However, I am starting to see a pattern in LC's posts that make me think I know why he's doing and saying what he is. However, that in itself isn't guaranteed to not be mafia (I could see a townie mafia with an "all cylons must die" wincon). But for now I am not ready to poke that bear with a stick just yet. So I'm going to go with VOTE: NUTELLA

I'm also totally aware that it's a sort of unfair thing to hold up against either one of them at the moment because it's sort of non-defendable. THey aren't going to come out and say they have BTSC if they do (whether it's good or bad BTSC) and if they don't, it's purely circumstantial and so there's no evidence to really help them. Which is why I'm taking it for what it is, just something to notice and not something to hold against either directly for the moment. However, if one or the other ends up bad, I'm definitely end up looking deeper in to it.

For starters, stop shutting down the opinions of those who are used to complicated set ups. Those of us that have been playing here and on Syndicate's Cousin Sites are used to set ups in which good and bad isn't all that clear cut. This is just another variation on our normal.

To be plain, I would be absolutely shocked and disappointed if this were a simple game of civ v mafia. That simply wouldn't make sense given the description, the roles, and the general expectation of this site (with a game like this with no win conditions listed--there are certainly civ v mafia games, but they are described as such).

It's a different skill set, to be sure, to find baddies in such a game. Perhaps it could be useful if this is entirely unfamiliar to listen to those for whom this is not unfamiliar territory.

Yes, this. We have had numerous games that were not simply black and white "town" versus "scum" because honestly that gets really boring after a while. SW, ika, this may be new for you but try to keep an open mind about what a mafia game can look like and how complex the alignment system can get, and also maybe pay some attention to those who have show-lore-knowledge that might help understand such complexity for this particular game. Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong, but show some flexibility and open-mindedness because that is how we play here. You are welcome to your opinions but please don't be rude about them or try to shove them down people's throats.

Well put, Lorab.
I asked for how we scumhunt in this setup. Not a lecture on shutting up and listening to those who play on the Syndicate longer than I have.

God you people are rude as hell to those that haven't been here as long as you and it shows in almost every single game.
If you preceived me as rude, then I truly apologize. That was not my intent. I don't like when people feel bad and it is never my intention. So, if I came off as anything other than welcoming, I apologize.

That said, I was trying to be helpful. You asked a question. In noticing that many people have posited theories that include the negation of a simple good/bad game, and that you had completely torn down many of those posts, I commented that it might be helpful to read them and take notes from them.

I did not lecture you. I was not intentionally rude. I did not tell you to shut up. I was answering your question that you posed to the thread.

And it's not about playing here longer--it's about being used to set ups in which there are many areas of grey and having experience playing in games where simple mafia/civ games are a rarity. If I were to play on MS (which is not likely--the game played there is worlds different from what we play here and when I explored that site it did not look like a fun game at all, for me, personally), I would pay attention to the posts, ideas, and strategies of the players that were regulars there. Learning about a culture is a big piece of learning how to play any sort of game in any sort of realm.

And I haven't actually been on this site all that long. And certainly have my disagreements with many of those who have been playing here longer. I was trying to be helpful.

It just felt like when their names were mentioned they both popped up together. Totally could be coincidence totally could be townie BTSC could totally be bad BTSC could totally be they just happened to both see their names and felt the need to respond. Dunno. Just something I noticed.

My bad, it was Nutella that chimed in right after Matt.

And then again after. (BTW is it default that you can't search two letter words on this forum? Sucks when I'm trying to search for OA. lol)

I just noted that something so completely irrelevant to this game was brought up a few time. Small ping. (Sorry Juliet, had the wrong gal.)

RIP Ika. I was very surprised by his death. Please don't anyone take this the wrong way, but he was being somewhat disruptive, which baddies usually appreciate and don't interfere with. Until he died, it looked like we were heading for a Day 2 where the two main trains would have been Ika and Epi. I'll take the Ika/Silverwolf vouching at face value until I get burned by it, so I saw Ika as a frustrated civvie. Losing a civvie is bad any time. Being tasked with the situation where the top two are a frustrated civvie and a likely unlynchable role of questionable allegiance isn't savory at all.
Double agreed. I'm still trying to figure out the how and why that happened. His behavior was making him a prime lynch target for Day 2 and they killed him the night before? That's really odd. Feels like there were either emotions involved or it wasn't the original plan.

My guess is that's the other way around from how you put it in the last sentence.
I believe it to be a little bit of both.

Are you confused about what I wrote? Or are you saying that you think there are Toasters who need humans alive in order to win? Because that does make sense if we're correctly assuming a non-binary setup.

What I meant is that if there are humans who need Toasters alive in some kind of enabler relationship, that sucks for them because I see nothing wrong with locating and eliminating all the Toasters.
Why though? I personally think that there's a "human" mafia and a "cylon" mafia (or a mafia mixed with both). I believe there are cylons that are not mafia, and I believe that there are humans that are bad. The way the numbers work out, it's impossible for all cylons to be mafia and all humans to be townies. There are just too many cylons in the game to make that possible numbers wise. If that's the case, I'm not worried about finding certain cylons who probably have townie win conditions as I am finding the ones who are actually a part of the mafia and can hurt townies.

LINKI - what scotty said. The "all cylons must die" thing screams "Look I'm a helpful townie!" to me. When logistics say that's just not the case.

Going to look for the two things I promised to quote (LoRab and Nutella's back to backs and Who ever else mentioned the Zebra thing right after Matt.)

But at this point, I think it's just as likely a ship is stuffed somewhere in between other, already searched sectors.

Poop. Golden said it once, and I was merely kidding when I mentioned Ricochet by the end of N1.

There's a gun pointed at your head. Would you lynch Long Con today?

If I had a gun at my head right now, I'd vote DFaraday. He's been lurking and has only posted 3 times in the thread. I know it's a vote with not much substance but my gut don't like it.

If I had to pick from the list I gave you, he's definitely top of it but more so for gut feeling than evidence in the thread. Although no one has to hold a gun to my head to make me vote. I will vote for someone willingly tomorrow with out that motivation requirement. Lol.

Linki: dude Matt you were going all stalker on me so I don't want to hear it. You STILL never gave me a good reason why the zebra thing had any impact or affect on this game what so ever?!

Indiglo, thanks for the compliments. Although I was a shit player then and no doubt I'll still be a shit player now so don't put too much stock in my play style or opinions. Lol. (Did I ever tell you about the time that LC tricked me for like three weeks into thinking that he was my townie BTSC partner when he was actually mafia and playing me? And I totally believed him and even followed his mafia will unknowingly? Yeah... I'm not always spot on in my assessments. Lol)

Whoa! Calm down! Epi was just responding to me, and I was just saying if you already know from day one who everyone is, there's no point in playing the game because you already know. I wasn't specifically referring to you or Ika, there were tons of people who said similar things. And yet for as good as everyone seems to be, no one agrees on who is what so obviously everyone isn't as good as they claim. Lol. Was light hearted discussion, no reason to freak out. If you're mad get mad at me as I said it, Epi just was replying to me.

I will never understand why so much stock is put in "playstyle." If you are that predictable and you are incapable of shaking things up, go play something else. Mafia is not for you.

RIGHT?!?! Seriously! It's weird seeing everyone say "well when x is townie he's always like this and when he's mafia he's always like this!" And it's not one person, beaucoup people have said it this game. If it's so easy to tell who is who then why don't we have a full complete list that everyone agrees on and why are we playing this game?! I enjoy the fact that many of these people are very hard to read because it makes it fun. Sure, you're bound to compare a little but this game has been full of experts. Not something I remember from the past, for sure.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day Two

Fine - I can't link to all the posts because I'm not searching on my phone. So bear with me.

I think long con is bad. I've seen play from him this game that I would never have expected from the LC I used to know. He has seemed panicked multiple times and his whole jumping in thing felt like a save, with his "oh look how much of a funny asshole I am" as a save. Again, I'm not searching on my
Phone for posts to support this right now. He also hinted to wanting to try and lynch Epi again when I believe Epi to be town and we knew he'd just be resurrected anyway. And I know I'm an idiot for mentioning it because if there's one thing that man can do, it's turn a whole mob against someone who suspects him in two seconds flat with no evidence.

I think there's a possibility that Lorab and Nutella are bad, but again not a lot of evidence. Just felt like their comments were BTSCish.

I admit that Matt's weird thing pinged me, but what was weirder was that one or two people afterwards were like "yeah! What he said!" Felt very much like teammates trying to support his weird accusation (which I still don't get what he was actually trying to accuse me of?!) it might have been Juliet? Don't remember now and too lazy to search on this thing.

Already said why Polo, and added to that he's been trying to base suspicion using Goldens posts after golden said twice they were Jay's for story purposes.

Good lort almighty, I honestly don't get what that could possibly have to do with this game but I'll bite. I just went and looked at the members list at RM and you're right, I was thinking Zelda. My bad. http://forum.revolutionmafia.com/member ... ofile&u=42 Again, still don't possibly understand what bearing that could possibly have on this game in any way shape or form but if that's your game, roll with it

Also - Nutella
I posted before, felt like when I mentioned you guys, one said to the other to go post and y'all came to post together. Doesn't mean for sure BTSC, doesn't mean for sure mafia. Just something I noticed.

Actually I'll just come out and ask it again since you ignored me last time. Spill it, Matt. What's your weird ass obsession with me remembering Zebra? What does it have to do with this game? And why are you obsessed with it? Spill it. If it's important enough for you to mention this many times, go ahead and say why it's so important. Not even joking when I say you're weirdo get me out.

Linki: because right now it's more feelings than in thread evidence and if I say who they will change their behaviors and I'll lose the chance at more evidence.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day Two

Why does everyone keep linking me to Zebra?! Matt asked me if I knew Zebra out of the blue. I said I remember zebra from years ago when I played. Since then Matt has gone all obsessive about it and now others are chiming in... Is it not the same zebra from RM or piano? And if it's not, I'm still
Missing why you guys are so weirdly obsessed by it? It's been like three years since I've played and I didn't actually say anything about zebra other than answering Matt when he asked if I remember her. Why are y'all acting so damn weird?!

Somewhere back there asked me to link to the two examples I mentioned of LoRab and Nutella answering back to back after I mentioned them. I'm on my phone right now and I'm too lazy to do that on the phone but i will in the morning.

Also, I'm not afraid to say it, I'm pretty darn sure Epi is town. Cylon or not, I think he's town. I also think drum beats is. Probably Silber and JJJ are (although it had nothing to do with their opinions of me that I saw they posted, ironically, just so happens they have mentioned me today.) I think Lorab and Nutella have BTSC although that in itself doesn't make them bad if they do, always possible to have townie BTSC. I think a couple of people are bad but again, I'll wait a bit longer until I let that out of the bag officially. Although Matt's weird ass obsession with an off topic and unrelated to this game comment I made is kind of remembering past players from when I played at the other sites is kind of starting to freak me out. I also remember about half of these players and spent years in the mafia trenches with them. Don't know what that has to do with this game?!

As of this point in time I believe Epi to be a town friendly cylon. I'm having difficulty with suspicions though. Nobody is standing out. I'm going to read nutella to see if I can buy JJJ's case. Besides JJJ with nutella has anyone else got a strong feeling about anyone? (OA I saw your suspicion of LC and someone else - I'm going into your posts to refresh myself on the "why" of your suspicions.)
I'm leaving my current suspicion in my pocket until much closer to the vote. Want to gather more evidence before I present my case.

I can do it. It's good to have a name in there. What sector again? Checkerboard pattern?
Unless someone tells me differently I'll do F4 at the next time of 5:49 PM Eastern.
Awesome! I'm happy to take the 11:49pm EST today also. I'll set a reminder on my phone if I'm not already here. Thanks G-Man

I think we should try either E1 or F6 just because those are in areas of dead space that a larger ship could easily fit. IMO, it would give us a better chance of hitting something large. (If it's small, then it doesn't really matter where we hit but those areas are still the most open.)

I'm fairly sure I know who I'm voting for today already, I'm just going to wait a while before I say it to see what else they offer me in way of evidence.

FWIW, I think it's odd that the mafia would take out Ika because Ika was probably getting lynched today. Why waste a kill like that? I hate to go all WIFOM but as a mafia, I'd never, ever night kill a player who was stirring the pot and everyone was threatening to lynch the next day. Makes me think either that wasn't the mafia, it wasn't planned that way, or they just really got sick of reading the back and forth. I suppose the last option is the most likely one, but still.
