As we've previously discussed, I don't agree with your take on Lucy in the thread.

And I think even if you do think she had inordinate focus on those three people, this framing of it is over-egging it substantially. Lucy did not make 'constant attempts to bring discussion back to a non thread related coincidence'.
Hard disagree. Once she realized these were teenagers, and the kids of another player, pretty much every one of her posts were about them.

But you didn’t tell me why your town read is so strong. What are you seeing that I’m not?

I can’t find a good civ reason for that focus on Lucy’s part, and her constant attempts to bring discussion back to a non thread related coincidence.

There are nearly 550 posts, that’s a pretty chatty day one. For me posts are a better metric than votes for gauging activity.

I appreciate your thoughts!

Don’t take this the wrong way- I’m just being inquisitive after all- but how do you know what is alignment indicative of me if we’ve never played together before?
I made an assumption. I don't actually know but I'm pretty sure you just like questions. My point was I don't think you're suspicious because of that.
I learned something new here. I thought "Alignment Indicative" meant in general, like say posting a lot of OT, or asking a lot of questions, *in general* is not AI. I did not realize it is a specific thing for an individual. Like I would say "AI" in general, and "AI for Scotty" if I was comparing it to his specific meta. I've been using it wrong.
IME it means both/could mean either depending on context.
Thank you, that’s what I thought. It just seemed that Scotty was implying Dennis misused the term so it confused me.

I have mixed feels on Scotty. I know he plays a very analytical game, and there’s not much to analyze before the first elimination. So I’m low keying my expectations of him a bit until Day 2.

But he also seems to be on the same thing as Lucy re Dennis, albeit on a lesser scale. That bothers me a bit. Sabiplz said she thinks Scotty’s buddying me. I didn’t get that feeling. We just finished a game where we we both town, and he low key suspected me pretty much the whole game. So I was just thinking that having just watched me closely in that game, he had a better feel for my town game.

But I also know I can be susceptible to that, so her saying it makes me more aware to watch for it.

Re: Lawyers, Guns and Money- [DAY 1]

Sabiplz wrote: Tue Nov 29, 2022 1:11 am Wild Dennis has no take on me
You are still in the Pool of Mystery for me, so I guess I don't have one either. You are one of the high posters, but most of them are one line posts, except when Marmot showed, you had some more in depth interaction with him.

For me, you're a bit enigmatic. We've had very little direct interaction (I don't recall questioning you about Marmot as you said in one post, but I didn't go back to look, this is more of an impressions post than a fact checker post), although I do recall asking you about Seanzie after you said his tunnelling post felt off, it seemed so out of character to you that you asked if he was all right. Yet that is exactly what he went on to do, to randomly tunnel someone. Personally, having been in many civ/civ Battle Royales myself, that is how this feels to me. As a random ship in the night, I'm not easy to sink, though.

You are the only one of the people I don't know (you, Lucy, Seanzie & falcon) who is being openly engaging with people, answering question, providing reads on people others may not be familiar with. Seanzie is also doing this a bit, when he's not actively trying to kill me. This makes me feel positive about you in general.

But your reads list is a short list, which makes it a safe list. You don't have reads on many people yourself, but you seem to think it's wild that Dennis has none on you.

I have no reason to think you're bad, and that's how I play, I look for baddies rather than clear civvies, although I'm trying to get better at that, since apparently it's the thing to do now. But I'm a hunter, not a politician.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
@Kate you could also ask me. When I read back over last night, I realized we've not really interacted at all. You've asked everyone else about the Seanzie thing but not me. Unless someone tells me the tunnelling thing is unlike him, I have no reason to think he's bad, if the dog with a bone thing is his norm. I talk alot and it's easy to find something to twist out of shape when a person won't shut up, lol, and I'm aware of that and I expect it. And as a Grade A tunneller myself, I know civs can twist words and meanings as well as baddies. I don't plan on engaging with him any further because two brick walls slamming into each other over and over is no fun for the rest of the thread, not to mention the walls.
But I also have no plans to vote for him, he doesn't look particularly bad to me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am keeping my vote on Lucy for now, I see no town reason for actively trying to limit the suspicion pool to three people for reasons unrelated to the thread. That would be like saying, "We should try to be suspicious of SVS, Scotty and Seanzie becasue their names all start with S". It's possible one is bad, but not for those reasons. Again, can't see a town rationale for that.

I'll be following, but will have to try to stay TF out of here today at work lol.

You were a pressure vote for a ridiculous vote. It was a temp vote and you know that I think. This may be too.

But I don’t get a civ motivation for this. It feels like baddies would find an easy push by focusing on the boys. That’s how it feels to me, and you know how I love my feels.

Yes, 2 votes and a few others casting suspicion. Wolves take lazy cheapshots in those situations. SVS fits that archetype perfectly.

My point is that 4 people expressed some sort of suspicion on me and I voted one. SVS then came in and pushed a false narrative on me. I don't think they realized it was false necessarily, instead I think they weren't actually critically examining my slot and tried to put in a low-blow to a townie being pushed by at least 2-3 other townies.

If a wolf comes into a thread and sees me gaining suspicion like that, the wolf does what SVS did.

not digging votes thrown out for no reason or sheeping (wtaf people??)
Golden - I am looking directly into your eyes.

Seanzie - SVS asking a simple question then you tell her to read when it is a perfect question to ask. I wanted to know as well but I do not know you like I know Golden though I am going to be watching for case making vs just throwing crap out to see what sticks.

falcon - slightly better but really would like to know more about your vote.

Scotty - though I am unsure of the reasons why you want to know what people what do with the cop INFO DUMPING role, tbh I am old school and would be shocked to see open INFO DUMPING I come from places where you had to make cases to get your info out I do not understand why anyone would out themselves for a nk this way when the role is so important to the town. If it is/or not my role I would make cases to prove what I have found out.
I do not think you are picking on Dennis I do think you are trying to engage him in the game to keep his interest going imo. Peeps did the same to my son Bass when he played.

Lucy - is your name Beatles related? What is your hang up about ages. I am old. You are young - get on with it.

Kate and the boys - No I do not think GMan would put them on the same team. Poss one of you but not all 3. I like how Dennis has been answering questions and keeping up, Jack seems more of a low poster like me and I dig that.

Mata is starting to get into it but where is splints? Bea?

There was something else but I cba'd to remember right now.

Just off work put still have a ton of paperwork left to finish tonight end of year is so hellish at my job.
SVS's question is based on a false premise -that I voted Scotty because of his vote on me. This should've been clear considering the only post I talked about Scotty being a 69% (nice!) bad doggo, it wasn't about Scotty's vote. SVS wasn't questioning me in good faith, they were trying to push me with a false narrative.
nah she wasn't she wanted to (and you *still* have not answered) know why you didn't find Golden's vote susp or more susp. Now I want to know as well. Not a false premise. This is mafia we ask questions we give answers. Do you find Golden's vote for you more or less susp than Scotty's?
Yes, it was based on a false premise:
S~V~S wrote: Mon Nov 28, 2022 8:29 am

Well, my work is done here. I'll see y'all tomorrow if those pesky mafiers don't kill me first.
Curious, why do you find the first vote on you more suspect than the second sheep vote?
My vote on Scotty had nothing to do with Scotty's vote on me. SVS isn't actually reading my posts and considering my alignment here, they're just pushing to push.

I have exactly zero feels about Scottys vote and exactly zero feels about Golden's vote.
Sorry bub, I’m with everyone else

I thought your vote was a blatant No U reactionary vote.

And now that you’re saying it’s not…makes me happy to keep my vote on you lol

You have ZERO feels about the votes on you? Balzac
I mean, one could more-or-less-accurately try to label my vote as "no U", but my point is that it wasn't "no U" in the way SVS tried to push (it was NOT a you/Goldeen grouping as SVS tried to make it). The chances of You/Sabi/Dennis having a wolf is >rand IMO based on how people reacted to Sabi's post about me, and I voted you over that because at the time you were the most concerning to me out of the three. If you want to call that "no U", I mean, sure. It fit's in a level 0 way.

My issue with SVS is that they tried to make a Sabi/you(Scotty)/Dennis thing about you(scotty)/Golden, when it never was about that, and suggesting that Scotty/Golden should have a wolf or that I should think Scotty/Golden should have a wolf because they both voted me makes little sense IMO.

Yes, the votes on me did not tug on my heartstrings one way or the other in any significant manner.
Nope, no I didn’t. I (as I said about 10 times so far) thought that of the two cites on you, that Goldens was more suspicious than Scotty’s. I was surprised that you voted for Scotty rather than Goldens, whose vote was ill reasoned.

The rest of all that up there ^^ you made up. Never said any of it, never implied any of it.

You’re doing an awesome pretzel dance trying to imply I’m bad but youre just making it up.

where do you draw the line at irl maturity
I use the gillick competency test.

(I’m a lawyer in child protection and gillick competency is how we assess whether a child is mature enough to make their own decisions so this is technically accurate.)

Or, if you want a more serious answer, I definitely don’t draw that line based on age, but if I did it would have to be somewhere older than me.
do you think having studied arguments and rhetoric for your entire adult life has made you better at mafia? I noticed you just had a sick win in game 1 as mafia
I think I started pretty good and if anything might have gotten worse lol.

But I don’t think it’s my arguments and rhetoric that have made me good at mafia. I think it’s my ability to understand how people think. I can often see the motivations behind a post. Reads are more important arguments. I won that game because I had good reads on who I needed to kill and who would vote with me at lylo.
This?

I didn’t view this that way, but I guess it could be read that way. Not by me, lol, but by some. I view this more as drawing you out, maybe a bit of buddying, but it’s a fine line.

@lucy I’m not overly concerned about your meta. I just honestly don’t understand a civvie reason for a hyper focus on three people for no reason other than that they’re related. Unless this situation has happened to you before, your meta is not relevant.

Maybe this seems odder to me since i played in a community where lots of people had irl relationships like friends or family.

But this whole thing feels like playing at playing the odds a bit which feels baddie to me.

my memory is almost photographic, I'm remembering everything but I don't think anything is alignment indicative as of yet, I don't have too many reads until d2 if you want some self meta that multiple people here can confirm
This isn’t what I asked. You seem to be focusing solely on three people for the reason that they’re related. Is that accurate or am I misunderstanding your post where you said you were trying to find if there was one wolf out of the three of them.

You left out STV! As usual, I don't say much on day one, but I do read and reread because day one becomes very important later in the game. I'm missing Bea, and wondering if she knows the game has started.
I didn't mean to, for me that was not a core site as it was for you. I think of you more as a Piano/RM person. I'm pretty sure I met you at RM before I played at STV.

Looking forward to your insights, they're always deeper and well thought out. You're a much better nuance person than I.

You do the @ start typing the name and then pick one from the drop down list; if you type the whole name yourself, I find it doesn't work. It only works when you pick a name from the list.

not digging votes thrown out for no reason or sheeping (wtaf people??)

No it wasn't, I never said that. What I said was that I found Scottys vote for you less suspish than Goldens vote, and I was curious as to why you didn't see it the same way. I never said you were No Uing. Or that it made you suspect if you were, for that matter.

For someone whose stock answer is something like "Did you read my posts", you obviously misread mine.

You are the Town Cop. Each night, you may alignment check one other player. You may roleclaim and infodump only once during the game. When you infodump, you may reveal the alignment of no more than two other players. Once you infodump, you will become vanilla for the remainder of the game. You must infodump before the mafia is down to their last living player or you will not be allowed to reveal their alignment if you know it.
Because no one else can claim or into dump, this role is functionally an innocent child with extra ability to clear x people.

Which makes it the role mafia will yearn to seek out and find most. If that role can survive into D3, claiming might be most efficient to town health should we miseliminate today. Even if we do find mafia today, it might be most benefit to infodunp D3 anyway. I feel like D4 is pressing the luck.

What does everyone else think the best play is with the cop?
If you had to pick only one, are you asking this more to generate reads or get genuine answers to the question?
Well I’d start with answers and go from there.

I genuinely wouldn’t mind other people’s opinions on the matter tho so I’m not just confbiasing my own ego
I think the most optimal approach probably depends on the player. I think it’s natural for players like you or me to make the call to infodump on day 3. Some other players might feel they could take more of a risk on waiting, and I suspect us talking about it is unlikely to move the needle of the cop if that’s their style.
Golden wrote: Mon Nov 28, 2022 2:16 am Or, to put it another way, if the cop is wilgy he’ll probably solve the whole game and leave all the necessary clues.

Curious, are you actually reading the thread and trying to sort me, or are you just looking for things to push?
I’m sorting. This is how I play; I ask questions and try to understand why people think or react. It can help me form opinions. I am not always the best at seeing subtext, especially with players I don’t know.

As for your other question, I am not trying to sort you so much as I am trying to sort the whole thing.

After reading the thread from where I left off, the most suspicious thing I saw was the votes on you, and found Goldens more suspect than Scottys. You apparently don’t. So I was curious about that.

Answer all your questions?

SVS- I mentioned this a few posts ago, but I’m still curious: you said some ‘other’ things jumped out at you last night. Was there anything besides Golden’s sheep vote that pulled a haunted house?
First, I <3 sheep, also goats. What I don’t love is dropping second votes on people for a silly reason on day one, especially. Perhaps it’s a throwback to non movable vote days. But I always find that kind of vote suspicious.

@Dennis AI, Alignment Indicative. NAI, Not AI. I just learned these last game.

Next, scotty, what also stuck out to me was Wilgy coming in without a schtick and acting all srs like. But I wasn’t sure if this meant anything, so worth a watch, not a vote. Also Kate & Dennis; that little poking each other but, again, seems more playful at this point, but I filed it away.

But a fluffy second vote on Day One? Good place to put a pressure vote.

If you were mafia partners with one of your family, would you sacrifice each other, and if so, who would willingly take the bullet first?
I am not one of these people, but I do have an opinion.

I think if Kate were on a team with one of her sons, she would try to help him in thread via the chat room, but if he got called out, she would bus him. I don't see her making cases on either of them, regardless of her alignment. But I could be wrong there. Especially if Kate is civ. She might know best the difference between an awkward nub mistake, and a "Shit, I shouldn't have said that", baddie slip.

I thought the "ha ha" circling between Kate and Dennis on Zero was what I would expect and was NAI for me. I have no idea what Jack or Dennis would do.

Having read back, the thing that sticks out most for me is walking into a thread where someone has two votes; one for a reasonable reason (that I am not sure I see as AI, but I don't know Seanzie; perhaps him saying what he did is a baddie thing), and one because "Imma sheep Scotty".

So I'm dropping a first vote on Golden. That seems a flippant reason to start a train. Not a fan. [VOTE: Golden] aubergine

This is pretty much my pattern on work days, a flurry when I get up (sorry for back to back posts, but it's gonna happen daily) then I may or may not be around depending on how work goes until 6ish eastern.

I agree with this. Upon reading it I didn’t know what was bothering me, but I think it’s the specifics of laying out his strategy, like boldly announcing to the entire office that he’s going to use the restroom, ‘but not just to pee!’
It feels off, but does it feel “bad”? This was one of the things that got my eye last night, but having thought about it, I think it’s annoying, not necessarily AI. But I don’t know this persons game, and I presume you do.

I know Golden said he was gonna sheep, but dropping a second vote on someone for a meh reason (most day one first votes are meh reasons imo, but second votes, I dunno).

Also neat to see nubs Dennis & Jack who I know IRL, but haven't seen in a LOONG time.

I am having family Thanksgiving today and I'm cooking, so you won't be seeing me around here. I will have time sometime around when Day One starts.
