Re: Death Note Mafia [NIGHT 2]

Why? I feel OK about some people, and not OK about others. That does not "cripple me".

It would take a lot to get me to vote for some people, and very little to get me to vote for others. Think of someone you feel you are trusting this game. It will take a lot to get you to vote for that person. It will take you very little to vote for me.

I think you are looking for reasons to justify voting for me. And if that is the best you can do, I have no worries :)

Re: Death Note Mafia [NIGHT 2]

Epignosis wrote:Without pulling posts, I had the impression that S~V~S and boo were Raye and Naomi. I no longer have that impression.

I will admit that my suspicion of S~V~S was reactionary- S~V~S would not vote for boo without a "smoking gun," but she would vote for me on a whim. While that annoys me, it shouldn't cloud my judgment. I find S~V~S to be awfully inconsistent in practice across the board. I believe that is one source of contention between S~V~S and me, or for that matter, S~V~S and thellama73. She's a "gutter," not a "caser." I can accept that, even if I disagree with her approach and even if I am the victim of that approach.

Obviously, I suspect her for ballooning the detective win condition into basically needing everyone dead to win. But I know she gets paranoid. Drive me insane, but I'm sure I have the same effect.

I think what you all need to start asking yourself is this: What would Kira do without the support of a team? Essentially, we're up against a handful of Serial Killers, one of which has a partner, and some of which that do not even have a kill.

What I mean is this: Rather than go on and on about how someone acted in this game or that game, explore how a person might act by having a vanilla Mafia role (i.e., no BTSC or kill). That person would just be looking to survive until the point when he DOES get the kill, right?

I would advise you all to do your rereads with that in mind.
I did not think he was particularly bad; I did not feel that way about you. It was not a whim; I had mentioned you before, and I have been watching you closely. You keep talking about how you aren't going to role hint, or out yourself, or info drop, and yet you are so heavy handed in implying you are Yotsuba, I think you might be actually bad. Becasue I do not think you are Yotsuba, and I certianly don't think you're a detective. Like at all.

There are lots of people I won't vote for without a smoking gun. LOTS. You are not one of them.

There you go Marsh.

I think Snowman was right, it was pretty telling how you handled this accusation, Zomb.
Thanks. I didn't see that one.

So you think she is wilting under the pressure? I'm seeing the opposite here. What do you think about her accusations of Snowman?
Well, being married for years, perhaps they can read each other based on RL knowledge & cues, not unlike Epi/Elo.

And I am not seeing a wilt, either. She is a feisty thing, isn't she? I never understood why changing your mind in the face of new info was a baddie thing, yet people think it is, or say so, at least. I am willing to give her read some weight.

I am going to reread Snowman for the fifth time. I did not see Llamas case becasue, tbh, it was like most of Llamas cases. And boo was convincing as well (but I tend to find boos posts somewhat mesmerizing to begin with; we agree on so many things, but totally disagree on others). But I am willing to look again as the only person in here who actually does know Snowmans game thinks he's bad.

That's a head turner for me.

Zomba, Snowman has answered about you~ what do you think of him? You were a bit waffly yesterday; first you said you would vote for him, then not so much. He is playing a fun, rollicking kind of game (the kind I used to play and am trying to get back to); is this an aspect of his rl personality?

Linki @DH~ I have not seen anything alarming about Zomba, either. But just becasue someone disagrees with your suspicion does not make it illegitimate. This game started out (as far as I can see) with only four people who knew someone elses identity. So even the baddies are flying in the dark a bit, which I rather like. Also lots of people who are unfamiliar with each others various styles in this game, which I also like. So I think there are going to be more small pings than normal.
I think you mean 6 players started out knowing another player's identity.
I have to reread the roles. I thought there was a pair of detectives, Raye & Naomi, and a pair of baddies, Light & Ryuk. Who did I miss?

No they aren't. They're not even a team. If you are a detective, you need Kira dead. That is all. Read the detective win condition so you are clear what your enemy's objective is. ;)

Be back this afternoon.
Yotsuba have a bunch of question marks as their win condition. Maybe their win condition is "Kill all Detectives". Maybe they can win with the baddies, but not the Detectives. Since we don't know what they have to do, they are a danger. It isn't just about the civ win condition, it's also about EVERYONES win condition.

I think if you were a Detective, you would be firmly riding the same wave re the Yotsuba.

Yotsuba Group (7)

While Higuchi possesses a Death Note, every night all members of Yotsuba decide on whom Kira should kill. They do not share BTSC by default. Members of Yotsuba Group win by ??????.

Kyosuke Higuchi (Third Kira) – A very greedy and power-hungry man who becomes the owner of a Death Note if a certain chain of events occurs. However, little does he know he is no more than a tool in an elaborate scheme orchestrated by the original Kira. Each night, while in possession of a Death Note, he votes on a victim for Kira to kill, concealing the fact that he is actually the one deciding others’ fates. Higuchi cannot be lynched or night killed until he receives a Death Note; thereafter, even if the Note is taken from him, he can die. When he possesses a Death Note, all members of Yotsuba vote on a player to die every night, but Higuchi has a choice to override the player to be killed. However, if he does so, he risks the chance of outing himself to his fellow members. Each member currently alive has a 25% chance of learning Higuchi’s real identity every time a kill is overriden, with a 75% chance of instead receiving a randomly redirected result. When he gains his Death Note, he is offered the Shinigami Eye Deal. If Higuchi takes the Eye Deal, he can role check two players every night but he must kill one of those two players; this only applies if he overrides the kill selection. If Higuchi currently cannot kill with a Death Note or does not override the kill target, he cannot role check anyone. Because the Eye Deal cuts his lifespan, all votes against Higuchi in lynches will be doubled for the remainder of the game. If Higuchi refuses the Eye Deal, he still may change his mind and accept it later at any time.

Shingo Mido - After Higuchi has killed two victims, he invites Namikawa, Shimura, and Ooi to a secret meeting. (Secrets)

Reiji Namikawa – After Higuchi has killed one victim, he receives an anonymous phone call. (Secrets)
The way Shingo, and possibly Reiji. is written, there is potential for BTS, which would say "team" to me. With Mystery conditions, headed by a Kira who potentially can kill. Even if they are Indies they are far from benign.

So Burn in Purgatory.

@Eloh - I said the 58% thing, but I think the bulk of the "Eloh is trying to rationalize her kills" suspicion came from the highlighted area.
I've been saying this for a while now. Someone else, DH, Ace, can't remember said that 58% of us don't want to kiss non-detectives. This game seems to be less of a civvie/baddie/independant type game. Even as a viewer of the show, (as I said before) it's difficult to decide who to go for....Light or the Detectives. Both feel they are doing what is good and right.

I honestly think it might be best that we stop referring to each other as civ or bad and instead as kira or detectives.
Which are all things you said.
So that way was wrong too? Would you rather I go back to just posting a reply to every post I read so you wake up to like 10000 posts from me? I miss alot on weekends because of time zones and because I don't get done working till after 2 AM my time. Literally everyone in the world is asleep. Help me help you make my catch up posts less painful.

Or don't laugh at me.

Either or. :)
This. Very seriously this.

Linki @ DH, I am not working under the assumption that Epi is Yotsuba. I am working under the assumption that he is not a Detective based on his refusal to acknowledge those "??????" win conditions they have, and simplifying it to "Detectives have to kill the Kira. That is all." Becasue unless you know what those "????" are about, you don't know if "that is all".

SPOILERS~ ~ don't read this OT if you want to watch the show

I am 20 minutes into the first episode, and Light strikes me as a total Psycho. Clearly a baddie. He is killing people based on his opinions, and he could be wrong. When Ryuk showed up, he had like 2 pages of names, and from what it looked like, some of them were High School bullies or Gossips. He reminds me of ISIS, putting people to death based on his beliefs. Sometimes he is right, but sometimes he is just judgmental.

The role description for the Kira Sympathizers calls them a baddie team. :eye:
[center]Kira and His Sympathizers (7)[/center]

Unlike typical baddie teams, these roles do not all share BTSC by default. See individual roles for publicly known BTSC information. Kira and His Sympathizers win when Kira has eliminated the Detectives and subsequently starts his utopian New World.[/b][/size]

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 2]

No, she hasn't but she is Mrs Snowman. I would feel even less confortable with a vote for her than a vote for Snowman, tbh. At least Llama made a case on him, whether I agree with him or not.

I'll offer my insight and contribute what I can, but I don't see the "discussion" coalescing around anyone in particular. All I see is argument ad nauseum around the D0 poll. [/b]

I'm happy to see so many involved, but how do you find so much to talk about when literally nothing has happened yet? The most earth-shattering event so far is the realization that Russ hasn't posted anything.
Waiting for a bandwagon to hop onto? :eye:
Linki, don't make jokes about your reasons for lynching people. Like I said, you are ending their game. That is serious to them, just like this is serious to you now that you are under suspicion.

Linki, I have seen the "He said team" think" lots of times. In this case, though, there is only limited BTS, that includes a civ BTS team.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 2]

I am reading. And I don't think I am misrepresenting, this is just what it distills down to for me.

You have never voted for the popular choice as a civ?

But really, I read that as, all we're talking about is the option poll, and not suspects. He seems to think the option poll was not worth 20 pages of discussion.

You may be right; but I think your extrapolating this from one post (that could be read in more than one way) and his subsequent failure to reply to you in a timely manner is just more Llama. you do this stuff all the time.

I do not suspect you for it, nor do I plan to vote for you. So stop yelling at me, I am just trying to explain to you why you are taking votes.

Linki @ Llama, lol. Nice.

Actually I addressed this earlier. I am not a "baddie hunter", I am a watcher.

Not everyone plays the same game. I am not a case builder. I watch for things that get my attention, and then I build on those things. I don't go around pouncing on trivia (becasue that is what I think "baddie hunting" actually is).

You play your way, i will play mine, and judge me for how well I play MY game, not yours. What games can you think of where I have aggressively baddie hunted? I have barely been a baddie in the last few months, not since Fight Club. Tell me where you saw me aggressively baddie hunting in those games.

I judge you based on how I expect YOU to act, not on how much you are acting like me.

Linki, yeah, I do too, actually. I want to be ahead of the person who thinks I am not contributing :noble:
I don't see you as the aggressive type, more like the really nice type :nicenod:
I was just catching up and I was reading your big post and ended up thinking that after that, it didn't give me any clue to what you are thinking in terms of any of the players. Maybe I was wrong. Did you give any thoughts on people you suspect other than me last day? Not even in terms of building a case, but rather who is pinging you at the moment. Sorry if you did and I missed it.

By the way, am I the only one pinged by BWT, his vote for Russ, and his whole behaviour surrounding TH and Russ? Just seems like the easiest suspicion ever. If it's role related, Russ is the last person to talk about it because it's infodumping, and BWT knows it

When I find a bone, I can be an aggressive chewer. I try to be nice, but it isn't always easy.

TBH, the person I am most pinged by at this point is Epignosis. He's arguing points more than people, which is not civvie Epis MO, imo. I am not seeing the Crusader. I am not planning on voting for either llama or Snowman (unless that smoking gun shows up). I have seen Llama do this one time too many, and I think a hell of a lot of people have said a lot less than Snowman, both numerically & content wise.

There is no NEED to do anything. I wanted to do it, for the reasons explained above. Why does it bother you so much? I don't understand the NEED to wait until the last minute to vote if you know who you want to vote for.
And you GOT discussion going, now that it is not going the way you had hoped, you are saying, "Why are you all picking on me".

We're discussing. As you wished Image

I am not voting for boo unless he says something really amazingly bad. While we have some philosophical differences re low posting and whether it's better to get rid of low posters from the perspective of PLAYERS v. ROLES, I am seeing his points more so than I am seeing yours or Llamas regarding Snowman.
What would boo have to do that's amazingly bad to get you to vote for him?
SVS still hasn't given a good answer to that reasonable sounding but very vague claim, which pings me.
What would be amazingly bad? Saying something like, "My kill failed last night" or something of that sort. Really, it was just a remark basically saying it would take a lot of convincing for me to vote for boo. And it would. It would have to be one hell of a smoking gun, becasue I have not seen anything that leads me to believe he is bad. I won't say he's GOOD, but I certainly don't suspect him any more than anyone else at this stage.

I get why you voted snowman, you wanted to make a point. Do you feel like people are making it a bigger deal then it really is?

Did you guys get a ton of snow also?
It is snowing a lot. :srsnod:

I just think it is odd my early vote, which I thought was well explained, is getting such scrutiny, and TH's is not.
You made a bigger deal out of it, plus your overconfidence makes people nervous.

Linki @Llama, that's just it, Llama, I don't necessarily think he is bad. That's you. I think sometimes some people, like you, tend to misconstrue nub behavior for bad behavior. Or behavior that YOU think doesn't make sense for bad behavior.

Linki @Rico, THIS^^^

Linki @Llama 2, plus you always make light of your suspicions yourself.
