Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 3]
I wasn't feeling defensive, I was feeling curious about your purpose.
And almost every suspicion I have had, has been talked about and the more we talk about it, the more I question any of my suspicions. You have a different point of view because you read the majority of the thread in a big chunk, perhaps it doesn't seem so muddy to you. Or perhaps it is just something I struggle with, it's not unusual for me to find that the more talk that happens, the less clear my suspicions get. I don't know, I don't have a different or better answer for you.

Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 3]
I point you again to my explanation of my vote. It's not that I don't have suspicions, it's that I feel like everything has been so muddied in my mind with all the back and forth that I didn't feel confident enough in a vote for any of them at that point. But again, I was pretty clear about this in the post I quoted, so I am wondering why you feel the need to push me to answer it again? What more are you hoping I will say?dunya wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 3:16 pmI wasn't really asking why people voted for Mesk/Dom, I was asking "didn't you have anyone you thought was scummy who'd actually contributed to the 2600 posts?". So buy reading your explanation, are you actually saying you don't have any stronger leads than Dom at this point in the game?Spacedaisy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 1:13 am
I'm not above voting an inactive player. I really think this is a discussion that should be had outside the confines of a game sometime, because I think "the maths" support lynching inactives when you don't have a firm lead taking you elsewhere. This is why my vote is currently on Dom. Despite everything we have had go on in these first two cycles, we have no solid information and we have been talking in circles around every little thing for so long that I feel like my reads are getting super muddy in my mind. So I am ok with voting out Dom who has done nothing at all.

Mesk, I hope you join us again sometime soon. You seem like a fun person tonplay with when you're here.
I'm not gonna lie. Even if the lynch was a townie, I'm still happy someone is gone. It helps me form better opinions of others. Dunya... I think you're alright imo now. It eases my mind because I hated that nagging feeling that you were bad.

No, the order is not reflective of the order votes were placed. It has not been since we had the site reboot. I'm very sorry for this nuisance, but it's something that will have to be coded and I don't have that ability yet. So I can't change that at the moment.Dragon D. Luffy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 10:06 am Like in here, Quin started pushing the Mesk lynch before everyone. He pushed and he pushed until people took the bait. If one of Jay or New Dom is bad, Quin looks terrible. On the other hand, it is a risky play for a baddie. He more or less took the lead on it.
Or did he? He was the fourth one to vote in the poll (can we trust the pool order, btw? This site changes too much). That means he kept suggesting it until some people voted for her, then jumped on the wagon himself.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 3]
Yes apologies, I did this in the car and my phone was nearly dead so I was waiting until I got home to say anything about it. I am now home. I feel like I keep flipping back and forth on some people. My difficulty is sometimes when another player passionately tries to argue something that just seems so out there to me, I have trouble deciding if I think they are bad or just seeing things differently than I am. Especially when the way I see it has been laid out clearly (either by me or in some cases by other people as well). That is the difficulty I am having with Jack, Quin, and even sig to a lesser extent. It's why I feel like I keep flipping back and forth on them.
As far as Eloh, if I took what she said alone I would probably think she was bad. But as Epi pointed out, most of the things that would be baddie tells for other people are just how Eloh plays. Until we start getting some info and we can evaluate how she has interacted with others, I am not sure I could say for certain where I fall on her.

Feel free, if I was not getting ready to go out for a while this evening I might hold my vote, but I don't want to risk getting busy while out with friends and forgetting. And I feel most confident with a vote on Jack.
Linki: I don't think pushing Jack to answer something he feels is too close to the role claim/info dump line is fair or right. You know what the possibilities are out there, now you decide based on the whole picture where you fall. What do you believe happened? Roll the dice, cast your vote. Either you believe Jack's tone, defenses, content, etc. or you don't. Don't ask him to do something that is not in the spirit of the game that the host created and that the host has specifically warned against. I respect your conviction here Jack. I'm almost sorry that I still suspect you, but I do. Even so, I respect your stance here.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 3]
A tie wouldn't result in a lynch any Day outside of Day 1. So someone survived a lynch. Either by vote shenanigans or by having a role that can either stop a lynch or survive it's first death. Speaking of [mention]Marmot[/mention] I still have not had an answer to my questions, not even to say you won't answer it. So I will ask again, I assume you being absent means you didn't see it.
1. How will lynch stops be written?
2. Does Anawhatsever (I think that's the role that survives it's first death attempt) survival apply to either lynch or NK or just NK?

Sutter Buttes has the ability to decrease a player's vote total by 1 on a given day. I believe this notion was entertained as a possible scum slip by some in the immediate aftermath of the day. I don't think it would be too outrageous to consider. I'd like to ask Jack why he thought he was "almost lynched" instead of just plain lynched in that moment.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 3]
I can't speak for everyone else, I can only speak for me. I find it highly unlikely it was town/town when the lynch was Sloonei/Jack. One of them is most likely bad imo and I am leaning Jack. They both said things that seem to indicate they knew there was more there than meets the eye. I believe Nutella is civ and who I think she is after the Day1 non-lynch. So that leaves me with questions about what Jack said before the lynch non-flip. Then you add in his defense of LC's arguments against Epi Day1 and I just feel like he is most likely bad. The arguments are ridiculous and I feel like they keep trying to paint Epi as bad when in fact I think they are the ones twisting what Epi was actually saying. That's just me talking about where I am coming from, I don't know everyone else's case against him.
Not necessarily. You can be bad and get caught out for stuff that isn't actually a slip or scumtell. It's annoying as hell, but it happens, probably frequently. Pure dumb luck.
linki Kyle: Sloonei said stuff much more blatantly, and before Jack did. So technically they both made that kind of claim. Jack seemed to imply he knew vote shenanigans were at work for him to have not been lynched. Sloonei just implied it would be a waste of time to lynch him, period. So Sloonei's claim seems more believable to me. In order to believe Jack's claim, I would need to believe either Nutella is not who I think she is, and judging by her behavior I don't think this is the case, or that he is the role that borrows power from a mountain taller than itself and used it to double his vote value. This last one is possible. I just have trouble buying it when I consider the whole picture of Jack.

2. I'm not spreading paranoia, I'm trying to sort through my own feelings and figure out if it's tinfoil insanity or really something. Also, if I was spreading paranoia I would not be so willing to hear other opinions and adjust based on good points in response.
This accusation was definitively a no u and it really makes me like the look of you even less.
2. That's something someone trying to spread paranoia would say.
linki: Jack would you mind explaining why you think you were almost lynched?

In fact if I were to apply the exact same criteria to casting a vote at this very moment and taking into consideration post count, I would vote either sprityo or Quin. Quin has the second highest post count in this thread and yet I can't think of a single case he has made independent of someone else, or a strong stance I can recall. And sprityo, I did vote for him and I would be willing to do it again for the same reasons as before. Though it is nothing personal and I'm sorry you had a rough day yesterday sprityo

But your insistence that I am going after you because you're a low poster even though I have corrected this misunderstanding makes you look worse to me, not better. That tactic is a great way to paint someone as bad because around here people going after low posters is viewed as an easy lynch (even though it almost never gets someone lynched, so I think this is a really weird case to make, but that is a mafia theory discussion really).
Linki @ Sloonei: Can you please specify what you mean by people who did not. Do you mean you want to know why people chose you over Jack or do you mean everyone who did not vote for Jack (including people like myself who voted for sprityo)?

Ok, perhaps I misread your intent. It read to me like, before the lynch you were trying to figure out why people were voting for Jack. Then after the result you were trying to figure out why people did not vote for Jack. Which would give me the impression that the result of the lynch made you feel worse about Jack. But this last post seems to make that impression incorrect. Do you still feel the same way about Jack now?

Nothing incriminating if that's what you want to know. I fully believe you are civ and there is little to nothing that can convince me otherwise at this point.
The reason I am trying to sort through this in the manner I am is because I think Nutella's posts and behavior have reinforced the belief I held. Either she really is who I believe or she wants me to believe she is.
I think I am at a point where I strongly believe either nutella is bad or Jack is bad.

Yes it is conceivable. But if it is the case I maintain it was Sloonei who stopped the lynch and not Jack because Sloonei predicted non-death. Also, this possibility is why I asked Marmot how he will write a lynch stop.Long Con wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 9:01 am Cristobal Colon (which I somehow missed in my tally of how no one got lynched) may have had to send in a lynch-stop without knowing which of the players in the "tie" were going to be lynched. It's conceivable that Civ Sloonei just saved baddie Jack, or vice-versa.
Nutella's response to my out loud theorizing is interesting to me. She seems to fall in with the idea of Sutter Buttes protecting Jack making it a tie lynch when it shouldn't have been.
Sloonei has gone from, "tell me what the case is on Jack?" to "why did you not vote for Jack?" This is also very interesting to me.
I did not get an answer from Marmot so I will ask again: Marmot, When you say "Aconcagua will survive the first attempt on its life." does this apply to either lynch or NK, whichever comes first? Or does this only apply to NK?
Can you tell us how a lynch stop will be written?

Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 2]
Or the third, less likely option imo is Sloonei implied something untrue and got really lucky to have no death, meanwhile Jack survived a lynch and is most likely good, with a smaller chance of being Indy.
This seems the longest stretch to me.

Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 2]
Here are just a few relevant posts, I feel like I am missing one or two from earlier too...
This means then that Sloonei is the one who should have died. In order for that to be true either the player who has a vote worth two voted for him, did not vote for either of them, or voted for Jack who had a vote less than it seems because of Sutter Buttes.
I am left with two options. I was wrong about Nutella being the role whose vote is worth two (definite possibility, need to look over what originally led me to believe this) or Jack is bad.
I just think that if a player preemptively implies that lynching them will not result in their death and then we have a lynch which results in no death, they were probably being truthful.Sloonei wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 1:50 amIt's not wifom. Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 2]
Ok it was Jack and Sloonei tied with 5. I have been operating under the assumption that Nutella has a vote worth two based upon events from Day 1. If this is true, then Jack would actually have had six to Sloonei's five. This would then mean that either Jack is the role that survives its first death, he could be one of the two secret roles which we don't know the powers for, or he was protected by the Sutter Buttes and had his vote decreased by one, making it a tie that swung to Sloonei who then did not die.
I find it difficult to get past Sloonei seeming to think it was a waste of time to lynch him. His phrasing read to me like a hint at what would happen. I'll pull some quotes for examples.
This lynch leaves me with a distinctly bad impression of Jack. But there are two questions I need to have answered because they could be hidden factors at play if I have misunderstood them.
Marmot: Two questions. 1. When you say "Aconcagua will survive the first attempt on its life." does this apply to either lynch or NK, whichever comes first? Or does this only apply to NK?
2. If a lynch save has been used how will it be written?
These answers can impact my view of this latest non death.
Now I am off to pull the relevant Sloonei statements... then going to sleep.

Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 2]
I think it's very clear that Sloonei knew he wasn't going to die if he was lynched. I assumed that he was the one who was lynched but didn't die. I'd have to double check the vote tally though.
