I really like what Urist did with the setup. I don't really see it as satire, I see it as playing with a framework to manipulate players' expectations and force them to analyse a list of potential rules. I think I might host a Normal game myself sometime, or maybe design my own version of normal game and host multiple games with it, because the idea of a standard list of roles that allow for surprises like this is really cool.

That said, NAA's mason role wasn't normal.

Thanks! It was partly satirical, but even so I did want to make a setup with a bunch of roles that interacted in interesting ways. I'm glad you liked it.
I disagree that the lone mason was abnormal. There was more than one mason in the masonry; it just so happened that two of the masons had a modifier which did not give them access to said masonry at game start. To me, the thing that makes it normal is that you shared a private topic with NAA. Really, it's a technicality that can be argued either way IMO.
I did make a mistake with the role cop, though. I didn't read the normal description and ended up giving TSP a result of "Informed Goon" on Nanook when he should have received "Informed Vanilla". If anyone had asked me privately or publicly, I would have confirmed the mistake.

Yep, sorry about the modkill. Usually I prefer to replace, but in this situation I don't see how a replacement doesn't confirm LC's frustration (and alignment) as town.

In true mafiascum fashion, Lime Coke has been modkilled. The game ends in a mafia victory for fingersplints, Nanook and TSP.

Another day dawns on the big city. An officer in the police department's cybercrime division sits at his desk, investigating a recent attack on the department's website. The apple icon on the back of his macbook is crowded by the stickers adorning every inch of its surface, each declaring the detective's undying love for the Typescript programming language. His partner in crime-fighting, Detective Sabie, dances through his open door holding a coffee.

"Good morning, my dear Marmot! Seeing how it's your special day and all, I brought you your favourite from Starbucks, a Venti Vanilla Frappuccino! How's the investigation going?"

"Oh, not bad. I think I'm nearly done. These guys didn't seem to really get into anything important. Judging from the access logs, it seems like they only gained access to the site's client code, and were able to mess with it a bit to give our site some weird errors. It's good that they weren't able to query our database, but still, pretty scary that they would be able to get in at all. Hmm, what's this...." Marmot begins to frown while staring intently at his sceen.

Sabie doesn't seem to notice. "That's great! Maybe you'll get to finish early today. Hey, I was thinking, maybe you want a cake for your retirement party tonight? I was thinking chocolate cheesecake. What do y-"

Before she can finish, Detective Marmot collapses. Blood trickles from his nose. On his screen, an error message:

The room's only feature, a notebook's tiny monitor, is barely illuminating the faces of the three individuals crouched around it. A single digit is displayed, a brilliant halo lost in a field of darkness. The man in the middle exchanges looks with his compatriots. They nod. Slowly, he moves his own digit toward the backspace key. And then, darkness.
