I thought crit dodged role-blocks as well because from some of the places I've come from any sort of role-block is considered either a protection or "defense" as the setup puts it:
Dragon D. Luffy wrote: Fri Dec 17, 2021 8:34 am making it ignore all protections and defenses
Not to mention it words it as "all", which could've either meant multiple protections or all forms of protection.

I didn't mention it during the game though in the hopes that it was actually that case but mafia mis-read it as not doing that

glad to know it was TSP

I was getting sus of the very moment he called my logic bad

Maybe that would've ended up being CFTWR, but I've seen TSP last to end-game as wolf and win. Its just something he has done in the past.

Adding on that: To suggest my buildings destroyed via role-block if and only if my action got blocked would also suggest that I can always avoid having my buildings destroyed by doing nothing and doing no action.

Aside from being killed/saved.

Unfortunately now Mafia has a 1-shot RB immunity so he'd need to be roleblocked once on two separate nights to confirm via that method.
That being said though, that now applies to everyone.
I'm not sure thats how it works?

As far as I understand or imagine the crit works like a strongman

Like lets say I was the mafia and I was going to kill someone using the anti-rb canteen

Unless my target was the RB'er, my criminal act of murder would just simply happen before the RB took place. Rather than just saying "Oh LC's role-block never happened".
Dragon D. Luffy wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 7:29 pm - Teleport canteen: player's the player's actions avoid roleblocking or misdirecting for one night.
In other words, the canteen would affect my actions. Not my slot. And as far as I understand, my role-card doesn't say my buildings are destroyed via role-block if and only if my action got role-blocked. No, it's about whether or not my slot got saved from a kill or hit by a role-block.

Re: Team Fortress Mafia [DAY 5]

@Lime Coke

consider role-blocking me tonight as you will confirm my role to be town

if the last mafia wants to interfere with this they'll have to kill either you or me (at the risk of being watched)

you might not want to verbally plan out what you're actually doing today though; if mafia were certain you were going to do this they may end doing an anti-heal crit canteen on Marmot

Welp, I was wrong with Sig.

As a general reminder, I need only be role-blocked once to be confirmed :)
Dragon D. Luffy wrote: Fri Dec 17, 2021 8:34 am If the Engineer is roleblocked or survives a kill attempt due to protection, the oldest building in the base will be destroyed in the crossfire.

- Engineer: The first time in the game one of his buildings would be destroyed (except by a Spy), it survives.
The mafia version of my role only loses the oldest building after a 2nd role-block.

And if Sig is indeed the 3rd mafia (which he should), then it is also not possible for there to be any sort of mafia coordination to "accidentally" block or save me twice.

I guess you could rand which roles in said list were mafia, but that seems potentially prone to cause unbalance. I also don't think that's what I would do to a setup that I probably spent awhile carefully crafting so that everyone can have a potentially really powerful or impfactul role.
like taking this completely out of the game I would say that this method that you're describing here would be insanely irresponsible and would open up the door for a huge number of problems and should be avoided in all cases

like you can rand the game and if the rand is exceptionally out of order you can do something about it. Like for philo mafia we i think had to re-rand because the wolves got every single kill power role on the first go around. But even in that game the setup was closed so I felt comfortable doing something like that, I'm not sure if you can do that in an open setup.

to the second post which I'm not quoting here I'm not going to comment on the balance of the game in progress and i have opinions which I will never express
.....Okay then

I suppose I am speaking from the biased perspective of a host who recently did that on another site; however, in that game I had clearly out-lined that I had already hand-picked which roles would be mafia before the signups were even posted. In this game, it isn't outlined and I suppose I could see a potential problem with that if the players wanted to know that before-hand. My experience as the host in that game tells me there's very few problems with it because (among other things) mafia went on to stomp the game and not a single town got close to being right; more often than not they had one or two mafia locked in as town if another went down. Nor did anyone ever complain about it.

I'll stop talking about it now though and we can have this post-game. I apologize if this conversation seems angle-shooty or whatever to you, because I clearly don't have (or am aware of) the same values, experiences, or reasons as you do on this at the moment.

Especially since the mafia at start just have 4 players or 22.2% of all players. Even with the small bonuses for the mafia, that doesn't seem to compensate for the fact that town will have 14 power roles which may be almost as equally powerful.

so like I see any sort of guessing that Host would do X or Y to give balance to mafia or whatever as to be equivalent to setup speculation; its not completely open if we don't know what roles are going to be mafia imo.

And I also agree with Guilo's point on how NAA was infuential in the Seanzie CFD but seemingly hasn't shot anyone yet. It seems almost contradictory and we're somehow lucky that a !town NAA hasn't stabbed anyone yet. Or they tried to at some point but failed and just didn't mention it. MartinGG99 wrote: Fri Dec 31, 2021 10:38 pm So one mafia in Sig/LP/TSP/Guilo/(one of Dobly/LC)/NAA.
Looking at D1 votecount though only Dolby (if he's blue), NAA, TSP, are the only currently-living blues to have voted to save sabie.

LP and Guilo voted to not save (i.e. hard-bussed Sabie if they were wolves).

something something reasoning in my head I think that last part implies LP and Guilo town more-so for the vote on Sabie since they were blue and yet did not try to save mafia-blue-engi sabie

Sig voted Guilo & LC voted Jack; both off mainstream wagons.

Therefore, I think in connection in my last post this likely implies at least a wolf in TSP/NAA (And Dolby if he's blue). Less likely though still implied wolf in Sig/LC (if blue). Least likely in between LP/Guilo amongst the blues since they directly voted to kill Sabie.

Re: Team Fortress Mafia [DAY 4]

I thought I should put things together since I just realized having Blue Engi as mafia likely implies at least one mafia on blue team otherwise they cannot make much use of it. Especially since Sabie went for Dispenser on night one.

Reds:

Medic- Falcon
Soldier- Marmot
Pyro- Wilgy
Sniper- Gavial
Heavy- Mac
Demoman- 1 of Dolby/LC
Scout- Nanook
Engi- MartinGG99
Spy- Dyslexicon

Blues:

Medic- Sig
Soldier- Jack
Pyro- LP
Sniper- TSP
Heavy- Guilo
Demoman- 1 of Dolby/LC
Scout- Seanzie
Engi- Sabie12
Spy- NAA

I couldn't find anything said about LC or Dolby being an RB'er or a certain color other than NAA's list.

So one mafia in Sig/LP/TSP/Guilo/(one of Dobly/LC)/NAA.

I wanna flip NAA in connection to this tbh. If the mafia were on the blue side they may have more incentive than mafia on the red side to try and save Sabie.

Honestly yeah, Town should never have gone for that terrible wagon. There was literally no reason to vote Seanzie whatsoever.
And besides, I thought Dizzy made it very clear and brought up good evidence that Seanzie was probably town based on post wording and meta. I even vouched for it since I compared it to a past mafia game of Seanzie's. Additionally, aside from that, there hardly had been any valid discussion about any sort of perceived scumminess of Seanzie.

Anyone who CFD'ed Seanzie, even disregarding the fact that it was a CFD, was acting fundamentally stupid.
Nah. There is no player here that is stupid, every action and every read must be assumed to be have been done considering all the risks and benefits. The CFD was deliberate and judging it as stupid is taking away from its importance.
Oh I never said anybody was stupid.

People can and will still do the absurdly dumbest of things though; myself will also do something very stupid at some point (if not already in my life).

Thing is, sometimes its really difficult to tell the difference between town stupid and mafia open-wolfing...especially since the # of votes far exceeded the number of mafia.

Have you ever considered that some people in this game other than me don't respect you as a player, similar to how you view me when you think I'm town?

This came up when I read a post from Mac that did the same discrediting of a "town read" as you're claiming Martin did to you.

Highly doubt it's alignment indicative
That is not Martin, he respects me as a player.

Do you townread Martin? Why are you fighting his fight?
I can't speak for him, but I doubt he was ever planning on replying to this. So not really fighting his fight.
You are… speaking for him… that is the whole point.
I am guessing what he's thinking, some might argue that's the point of the game.
No, yoy are white knighting him.
Why dont we ask him? @MartinGG99

What do you think about that yo?
If NAA says he doubts I was ever going to reply to you then whatever he said (that you're referring to) probably didn't represent what I was thinking

also large quote auto-cut-off sucks

Why Marmot? They watched Sabie killing Dyslexicon, unless Marmot is counterclaimed, Marmot is the watcher and mech cleared.
Correction. They watched dyslexicon being killed by Sabie.
Yep.
A very easy play I can see Sabie making with their scum buddies and if you look at both Marmot’s and Sabine’s position day 1 their best play going into the next day would be to have 1 Buss the other for town credit.
One thing I don't understand though in this theory is why Marmot does the "catch". If Marmot is on a wolf team then anyone else on the team could easily pretend to be someone else's role on the wolf team and just have someone else claim watcher and bus Sabie.

Marmot doesn't seem to be doing much, and if it were up to me I probably would've had someone else do the bus so they could go even deeper. With marmot in my view his catch was only just enough for me to read him as probably town but not lock-town. I.e. just enough to sit out of the danger zone for a bit.

spews Guilo as town and cannot be possibly a wolf bussing unless he fully intended to indict himself as being a poor solver so far wrt my slot
This is scum. Townreads me while he discredits me as a poor solver, I rather be scumread to be honest that accept that suck ass townread to be frank.

I correctly scum read Sabie since day 1, yah I'm a poor solver alright.
1) I said wrt ("with respect to" or "with consideration to") my slot: Yes you were (or still are; I can't tell if you're serious about "This is scum" here since you haven't voted me) incorrectly solving my slot as scum when that is very much not the case.

2) I do not easily give town-reads over pushes on (or catching) scum. Anyone can do that and in fact I myself have yet to have a scum game where I didn't push or put serious pressure on at least one of my scummates afaik. I am in general very skeptical of giving credit for wolf flips (especially to experienced players) unless there is a nuance that I think makes it unlikely to have been a push by a wolf.

3) I found a nuance that I think makes your push actually look town-read worthy. Its because you've been carting the idea that I'm scum all around on day 2 while Sabie was caught and I claimed engi. This is very unlikely to be done by a wolf when bussing Sabie in this scenario because they are knowingly and willfully dooming one of their scum-reads to be discredited by the scum engi flip.

4) If you're serious about scum-reading me rn for that observation then you're discrediting your solving ability by yourself at this very moment; you only have yourself to blame at this point. its proven I'm town after sabie's evil engi flip and any consideration that I'm not should be viewed as being ridiculous and extremely tinfoil.

ngl I was expecting them to use their single-use crit on someone like me or Marmot

I don't fully understand why they wouldn't

unless they used that on dislexicon but that seems rather rash and unlikely imo
