As the final three rabbits congregated silently within a grove, not saying nor doing very much at all, the hawk landed close by. The rabbits watched in fear as it hopped not once, not twice, but several times until it came to the edge of what they thought was safety.

Of course, if they all banded together, maybe they could bunny kick the darn thing to death. As one of the rabbits moved to do just that, the hawk froze it with its terrifying glare.

"Hello, little rabbits," said the hawk.

The rabbits flinched in shock.

"A talking hawk! It cannot be."

The hawk blinked. "You're a talking rabbit."

"We can all talk. This is a metaphor, you dimwits," said JaggedJimmyJay.

"Very true," said the hawk. "And by the way, my name is SVS. I was actually hired by this bunny, and another one that is no longer with us, to thin out the herd."

The two other bunnies, Lime Coke and fingersplints, gasped in horror. "How? Why?"

JaggedJimmyJay gave a cackle, an alien sound coming from a rabbit mouth. "This is my meadow, mine! It can't be sullied by the likes of you."

"What happened to the magic of friendship? Bunny together strong?" asked Lime Coke.

"A joke! A ruse! Friendship is a lie!" JJJ almost foamed at the mouth, before growing deathly still. "My family left me here. They will come back for me. But if there are other rabbits, they might take them instead. They might not take me..."

Fingersplints sputtered incredulously at this. "You made a devil's pact with a hawk, killing all your friends, because you have baggage with your family?"

"Well, when you put it that way..."

JJJ nodded to SVS. The hawk bounded forward and took the bunny by the neck, ending it quickly.

Lime Coke looked between SVS, JJJ, and the still form of fingersplints. "I'm outta here!"

fingersplints has been eliminated. They were the Dutch Rabbit, and they were also a villager.

Day 5 approaches...

Despite the prior day's victory over the hawk, the mood between the rabbits continued to sour. Somehow, during the night, Sloonei had been taken from their burrow. There were so few of them left now.

If yesterday had proven stressful and like everything was on the line, it was doubly true today.

The rabbits slowly snuffled their ways out into the meadow for possibly the last time.

Everything would be decided now.

Sloonei has been killed. They were the Scrub Hare, and they were also a villager.

The mood in the meadow was dour. No rabbit knew what to do. It seemed, in the final hour, that they would die out with a whimper and not a bang.

A bang?

One rabbit's ears perked. A bang...

"What if we used a gun?"

The few remaining rabbits glanced at one another.

"We don't have opposable thumbs."

"With our powers combined, we can make anything happen."

"What?"

"Just hold this gun I found in the trash. I'll show you."

As the sun descended and the hawk followed close behind, the gaggle of rabbits joined together and managed to not only aim the pistol into the sky, but they also pulled the trigger. Of course, it went nowhere near the hawk, but it was enough to scare it off. It also dropped local property values.

In the hubbub of the celebration, they didn't notice Roxy slip away in the night.

Roxy has been eliminated. They were the Flemish Giant, and they were also a wolf.





Night 4 will last 24 hours until 2:00 PM PST on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The wolves have 23 hours to get their night kill to me.

Day 4 approaches...

There are fewer rabbits now. The hawk notices this fact with unease. It's been getting a nice, full meal twice a day. It's gotten used to having a satisfied stomach.

But no matter. The hunt must go on. The sun has already risen above the trees, and the rabbits are already frolicking about, snuffling in the blades of glass. They're hesitant, but just like the hunt, so too must life go on. And life for a rabbit is foraging in the bright sun.

The same bright sun that obscured their view of the hawk, which swooped down and plucked up Epignosis without any fanfare.

But it's the most audacious kill to date. It didn't happen at the sluggishness of dawn or the yawning of dusk. Nay, this was broad daylight.

The few remaining rabbits were brought into riotous disarray. They needed a solution, now, or else.

Epignosis has been killed. They were the Cinnamon Rabbit, and they were also a villager.

The remaining rabbits banded together to concoct their best, most daring anti-hawk plan yet.

"We could fight!" said one rabbit.

"With what?" countered another.

They mulled this over until the silence became awkward.

"What about a scarecrow?" suggested a rabbit lounging under a tree.

The rabbits all chattered at this. "It's not a crow!" said a skeptic. "It won't wor—"

Everyone turned, curious at the cut-off. The skeptical rabbit stared ponderously at the tree. "Doesn't that tree look a little like us?"

"It does!"

"Let's confuse the hawk! Let's stay here, and trick it into flying into the tree!"

"This will work! I know it will!"

It didn't work. Delta was promptly yoinked from their burrow with due haste.

Delta has been eliminated. They were the Belgian Hare, and they were also a villager.

Day 3 approaches...

Up until now, the hawk had been eating well. Sure, that last one looked a little unusual, but it tasted pretty good. The red eyes... well... the hawk sort of just shoved those off to the side. For later.

The rabbits are more cautious now. The sun peeked through the trees in its ascent and the hawk still couldn't see a single bunny soul beginning to frolic in the fields. Had they somehow disappeared in the night? Would the hawk have to find greener pastures elsewhere? It knew its good fortune couldn't last forever. Feast or famine, and yet again, things were teetering over back into fam—

No, there was a little swaying in the grass there. More swaying... It was barely perceptible. What could possibly be moving the brush so lightly?

No matter. The hawk was hungry. It launched off of its perch, came up to speed, and targeted the shape in the grass with extreme precision.

Barely worth a meal. But a meal, nevertheless.

Long Con has been killed. They were the Netherland Dwarf, and they were also a villager.

The hawk could not believe its fortune. It assumed the rabbits would have banded together and done something, anything, to resist the predation of this insatiable bird of prey.

Instead, the rabbits, in their rough rabble, rolled into a rowdy repartee that left two particular bunnies out in the open as the sun began to fade behind the treetops.

The hawk didn't even need to try. It could freely pick between the two, the rabbits still too busy to notice the danger.

And so it did. The hawk seared down from the sky, and caught up DrWilgy, leaving the other bunny well enough alone.

DrWilgy has been eliminated. They were the Britannia Petite, and they were also a villager.

Day 2 approaches...

The hawk feasted the entire night. The rabbits could only quiver in their burrows and listen to the dreadful noises of tearing flesh, desperately trying to ignore that it was once a dear friend of theirs. In hindsight, it was almost prophetic that a rabbit named Falcon would be the first to be taken by a bird of prey.

Alas, the inexorable passage of time waits for no one. The darkness over the land began to withdraw as the sun crept up the horizon. The hawk, still on the ground and suitably stuffed with delectable rabbit meat, catches sight of movement in the nearby brush. It hops once, then twice, and then realizes that it's looking at a rabbit's little hiding hole. It peers in, hopefully, and catches sight of the burrow's occupant.

It's not hungry anymore, but it can't let an opportunity go to waste. It lashes forward with its razor-sharp beak.

G-Man has been killed. They were the English Lop, and they were also a villager.





D2 will last for the next 48 hours until 2:00 PM PST on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

There is power in numbers. The hawk has watched the meadows with its careful eye, waiting patiently for a rabbit to separate from the rest. It waited, and it waited, and it waited.

Until finally it happened. The sun reached the tops of the trees and the rabbits began to scatter to the safety of their burrows. Except for one. In the ruckus, falcon45ca was left behind. Worse, they were sat out in the open, vulnerable, alone.

The hawk almost gave a whistle of exhilaration. It took to the skies, circling lazily as it watched falcon45ca in the field. As the rabbit began to nose its way through the grass, the hawk swooped down, grasping the rabbit by the nape firmly and launching back into the air. Before crashing back down. This was a big 'un. It'd need to pick at its prey here, in full view of the other rabbits.

It would eat well tonight.

A vigilant hawk watches over its domain. It bears a hunger so deep, so treacherous, that it starts to eye the wriggling worms in the dirt.

If only there were more succulent offerings in the brush. A squirrel, perhaps. A mouse, even.

Its stomach grumbles. No, a squirrel or mouse won't do. It is a master of the skies. It deserves a delectable feast.

It deserves a rabbit.
