Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 3]

SVS -I will try to explain better. I know I'm a civ - maybe I'm just ultra paranoid and other's don't feel the same way I do, but I get worried when people find me too agreeable. I think they are being nice to me so that I won't see them sneaking up to kill me. -

I wasn't mad - just full of high ABV beer. Went to a beer tasting event last night. Arrived early - was mafiaing during the pre-event beer time.

I don't think epi is an underdog, but I think his actual contributions to the thread have been overlooked. I agreed completely with his assessment of the Day 0 lynch options. FZ pointed out that Epi did bring up some useful info about Snowman the last cycle. He was a pretty vocal defender against a llama lynch last day. Those are three things he's added to the game off the top of my head.

Like I said last night, I think his posts have fallen into three catagories: useful ones, frustrated ones, and fuck it I don't care anymore posts. I think when a person is as vocal as Epi can be, it's easy to take the frustrated posts and the eff it, IDC anymore ones and make someone seem like they aren't doing much. Also, as I said, I am giving some pause to the fact that llama and eloh don't seem to find him bad at this time either.

Cute goggie is cute! Thanks! :) I still have puppies, like children, no matter how old they get, they are always puppies to mom. :)

I have to work now and I'm supposed to be done at 5 - which is a bit close to lynch ending time for my liking. I will vote later today after the lunch rush most likely - and from my phone.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with Snowman though.

Then we have Snowman. His responses don't seem genuine to me and he doesn't actually seem frustrated by all this, half-heartedly NO U'ing his detractors.

Still a fair amount of time before the lynch ends but, honestly, these guys may be aligned with Kira but I really doubt either is one.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 3]

dunno if anyone is TH - I just know my own personal paranoia kicks in when people put too much faith in my goodness with little reasoning.

And quite possibly you are right TH - maybe there isn't cred in this game per say, but you can't deny that a Kiria is still trying to look as in thread civ friendly as possible.

I know if I were in Snowman's position, and I had the role I do have, I'd be worried about why some people are so certian I deserve the benifit of the doubt. But maybe I'm just super paranoid.

And while there's no "civ cred" in the standard sense - you can't tell me that if snowman gets lynched and turns up a kira or sympathizer that it won't change how LOTS of people look at zombra or llama. Because it will. Just like you flat out asked zombra to take responsibility if snowman flipped detective. If someone is going to change their opinion of the lynch leaders in that sort of lynch based on how he flips - why WOULDN'T the same people look at the people that supported him in the same context?

Snowman - thank you for the response. I disagree with you but I appreciate your response. :)

linki - good question TH.

Snowman wrote:The Story So Far...

Epi was getting rowdy, accusing people left and right, but never voting for them to be lynched. People noticed, people began to accuse him, when out of the blue, Llama swooped in, accusing Snowman with loud, frequent, baseless posts, beginning with:

Boo has already answered this question. Why not ask something new?
Because I'm still interested in this discussion. What do you think I should be talking about?
Something less boring than Russ, which has been covered to death and which only he knows the answer to. Boring, boring, boring!

And as we all know...

(huge picture about boredom deleted due to size)

Why not talk about Snowman? Now he is interesting...
As compelling an argument as that was (and frankly, I must agree with that one point alone), he persisted for exactly one bazillion posts, quoting himself, using circular logic, and overall making baseless accusations, counting on rote repetition to serve as a suitable replacement for logic or evidence.

Llama then began to craft his own "evidence", which amounted to 1) Snowman doesn't post much (no one posts as much as Llama, but I've posted everyday since the game began), 2) Snowman hasn't defended himself, and therefore, is guilty (there was nothing to contradict, because Llama never presented any evidence, nor made any specific accusations), and 3) Snowman makes too many jokes (that's not what yo momma said).

Finally, Llama's saber-rattling elevated to the point where he was almost killed for it in a near-three way tie that ultimately ended in BWT's lynch. He dialed it waaaaaaaay back, leaving room for Zombaddie to take the reins in the anti-Snowman campaign, possibly spurred on by a recent death in another game. Contrary to Llama, Zombad actually offered some evidence--Snowman is sneaky.

Yes I am. I'm a high school physics teacher IRL, and it is to my benefit to think one step ahead of 160 little juvenile delinquents. I know when you are texting during class, I know when you are cheating off of your friend--and I know when you're targeting low-hanging fruit in order to delay and distract attention away from your Kira buddies.

Based on their actual behavior, I think the clear choices for the lynch are:

Llama
Zombad
Russ
Epi

Vote for me if you will. But doing so will further strengthen and embolden the Kiras, and you won't get anymore of this:

Image
While I enjoyed the elephant gif a lot. I disagree with your list. I've read russ as actually saying pretty sane and decent things since he started posting and I have fairly good feels about most of the others on your list.

As I'm reading it - the only reason you suspect Zombra is because she is convinced you are bad. Is there something else there you are seeing that I'm too dense to get? From where I'm sitting - she's reading pretty up front and genuine.

I'm curious what they have in common - in your eyes - that links them as kira's together outside of their suspicion of you.

Do you find anything at all curious about the people who don't suspect you? Or even the people who seem to defend you? Does it not strike you odd that in a game with such little BTS that you have such vocal defenders? Aren't you just the least bit worried about the idea that they might be kissing up to you so that you don't suspect them? Or so - if you are lynched - they look good for defending you?

What about the people dropping off the radar - like DP and Bass and Made?

DH - that was not what I was saying and you know it.

SVS was refering to epi's hair splitting - which yes - I think you, TH, Epi, llama and boo have all done in equal measure. You all have spent a decent amount of time hair splitting with each other and not finding Kira's - so from any of you - slamming Epi for not calling out Kira's as a reason why he's a Kira feels very pot/kettle to me.

awe - I wasn't even gone that long and I was missed. *feels the love* :D It warms my heart it does.

Just weird scheduling cause me to drop off there yesterday. Stayed up far to late Sat night (6 am) in an attempt to try to figure out how to ninja my hubby's up coming birthday. (Still not very far along on that front sadly :( ) - Went to bed - woke up in time to make it to work at 4 - closed - came home ate dinner and bed. Just now getting moving and getting some coffee in me.

DH - I said FZ's case felt kinda like a No U as I was reacting to it yes. And yes, it oddly did kinda help ease my feelings toward her. I expected her to bite back and she did. I would have been sketched out if she just sorta blew it off. Does that make more sense? Also my bad feelings about her eased as we talked through out the day more. I wouldn't say she's in my super trust list. I don't think anyone is there yet. But I don't necessicarly think she has earned my vote again either. Does that make more sense?

@Eloh - I said the 58% thing, but I think the bulk of the "Eloh is trying to rationalize her kills" suspicion came from the highlighted area.
I've been saying this for a while now. Someone else, DH, Ace, can't remember said that 58% of us don't want to kiss non-detectives. This game seems to be less of a civvie/baddie/independant type game. Even as a viewer of the show, (as I said before) it's difficult to decide who to go for....Light or the Detectives. Both feel they are doing what is good and right.

I honestly think it might be best that we stop referring to each other as civ or bad and instead as kira or detectives.
Which are all things you said.
So that way was wrong too? Would you rather I go back to just posting a reply to every post I read so you wake up to like 10000 posts from me? Re: Death Note Mafia [NIGHT 2]

OMG - MM - I should have played re-read the way you played catch up! Well done.

So first of all - BWT - I'm in agreement with boo - it's about third best outcome. He was definately not a detective though so I'm counting it as a win.

LC - wow. I totally didn't see that coming. Someone wanted him gone right quick. Not sure who though. I could meta guess at a few names, but I have nothing solid and thread based to go on ATM. If we're lucky he was youshowoamkia or a non bts kira sympathizer. I didn't have the best feels about him. But I never do.

I get not talking at night, so if these don't get answered till the night poll, I'm cool with that, just getting a few questions into the thread so that I hopefully don't forget I have them.

@ zombra - I saw that you didn't agree with a Snowman lynch because the reasoning was weak, yet you seemed to agree with llama's post giving him credit for being not a noob and not being able to use being a noob after this game. This reads rather contardictory to me. On one hand you don't agree with the reason his main suspector feels he's bad, on the other hand you agree with his main suspector. Are you saying you think Snowman is bad, but not for those reasons? If so what reasons do you have for thinking he's bad? As your posts read to me going through them, they felt like you were dancing around the subject not wanting to take a stance one way or the other about Snowman. Since you know him more intimately than anyone, I'm curious as to what your read of him is. Do you think he is civ or not? When you've caught up on the stuff you skipped during this lynch due to time, I'd like to hear your thoughts on others as well.

I like the pulled up side by side post you made in that it put the four roles all together in one spot and was helpful for reading. Here's the problem I have with it though, You list common characteristics that those roles have - and while the *roles* have them, the players aren't going to exhibit those roles necessarily in the thread. Just picking an arbirtrary name here - SockAlex could be Kira X. The ROLE of Kira X could be greedy and power hungry as all get out. And when he sends in his kills at night, he can be as greedy as possible. IN THE THREAD however, SockAlex is going to do everything he can to not appear to behave like his role. He's going to be reasonable and thoughtful. He's going to try to blend in and be as "typical SockAlex" as he can. If that means he's normally agressive, he's going to be agressive, if he's normally a low poster, he's going to post low. etc etc etc. Does that make sense and/or helpful? Am I being pedantic? Cuz I kinda feel like I am, but I'm into beer 3 so I'm not sure. I don't mean to sound like I'm talking down to you or telling you something you already know. If I am reading that way, I do not intend to and I'm sorry.

@ Snowman, in all fairness - what do you think of how Zombra's been playing so far? Is she reading on the up and up to you? Besides llama, who else will you be looking at going into the next lynch?

@ epi - I've been playing the game since the start - so I'll ask it - what do you think of eloh in a game related sense? Do you think she's a civ or no? And why please.

@ eloh - same question - what do you think of epi in a game sense. Do you think he's a civ or no? And why please. Also, Eloh - regarding TH: I haven't really been putting much stock in his role claim or lack there of tbh. If it were true, I can't imagine there not being conciquences for it as this is THE NEXT GAME after this all blew up during GOC. TBH, I've seen TH claim nothing. I've seen him act like the Death God because other people accuse him of that role. Because it's kinda funny, but I don't think TH is necessarily that role or that it's confirmed in any way. Not sure what role TH has, but tbh, I suspect it isn't the one he's accused of having.

@ FZ - did you read all that crazy "we should lynch the kira's then the detective's" etc from Made? THAT'S bat shite crazy IDC Made I was talking about. This game is ripe for his special brand of crazy spit balling that makes you go "Dude?? WTF are you talking about???"

@ Made - DUDE?????? WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? You know the detectives are civs right?

I actually agreed with quite a bit of Rusty's post during the post lynch. I hope I'm around when that day phase discussion happens.

Teefies, LC, Made - though his post does bring up a good point, he's still someone I keep forgetting is playing and that's really weird as Made is pretty unforgettable. BR not because I suspect her per say but because I'm still trying to figure out how to read her in general. Outside of saying she wouldn't mind seeing more discussion on Snowman has Zombra been back to offer any more insights in light of the new Snowman discussion?
Oh yeah, I mean to comment on your previous post. Since no one is seeing baddie Bea, and apparently, I'm out of my game this game, I'm willing to wait and see how this continues.

Why are you keeping an eye on BWT, and is it enough for a vote? What has Made said that has got you worried other than you forgetting he's even playing?
As for LC, I started thinking he's acting very not like him, but lately, he feels more genuine and trying.

linki: I'll address these later

BWT - he's really really good at doing the "see all sides of the arguments" posts. He looks like he's concidering options and sometimes they feel genuine and sometimes they don't. I totally see what you are seeing in regards to his wanting answers from TH and Russ - saying he doesn't need them from Rusty and voting anyway. Feels like he knew how he wanted to vote and just set up a circumstance to make it look like he was giving Rusty a chance. TH never did answer his question like at all. I guess the thing that worries me most with Teefies is why did Rusty earn the vote but TH didn't? (Sorry TH - I was gonna sum up the question at some point today but tbh after a few pages, I don't remember it exactly anymore. It had something to do with your early vote for Llama though I think.) Compounded by not again asking he question when TH specificlly asked him to feels a lot like that was just pomp and cirucmstances to find a reason to vote the way he wanted to vote. Not sure if it's enough for a vote, but it may be where I end up going.

LC - So for most players I tend to run with the idea that they are all on the up and up and look for things that seem odd. This is not the case for LC. My meta experience with LC has left me just kinda always thinking he's bad and him having to work very hard to earn my trust. He knows this. We've post game talked a lot. Even when I think LC is civ, I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop. He's as good of a mafia player as he is a civ, he's great at switching sides which makes him a prime candidate for recruitment any time that sort of mechanic is in play. I agree his posts read genuine. I also believe that this is an easy game to fall behind in and easy for players to hide in that "I'm super busy, I'm trying really!!" sort of posting. His posts tend to - much like svs said of epi - follow points of the game rather than players. It gives the appearance of contributing without contributing. Especially in a game with so much hair splitting.

Made - It's kinda the opposite reason for LC. Again, I get that RL is busy. He probably is swapped with school. My meta with him is that he tends to flounder a bit when he's bad but he's pretty ballz out right in the thick of things when he's a civ and figures he's got nothing to loose. The particular structures of this game (IE - the lack of baddie bts) seem taylor made for Made to shine, and I'm not really seeing that yet - which is a bit troubling.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 2]

@ FZ - you're not the only one keeping an eye on teefies. ;) He's on my watch list too.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 2]

OMG! You guys! you are making my head hurty again and it was only just starting to feel better from yesterday.

So, snowman came back in and said something more substantial. I did get the feeling reading that he was struggling to keep up more than he didn't care.

So to answer your question TH -yea that does help. I was 3 beers in last night and this thread literally caused a mental breakdown. I'm glad I waited till the morning to make up my mind. I believe SVS has said I "get bitchy" or something of the sort when I'm a civ - I chalk that up to beer Bea. I try to balance beer Bea with coffee Bea.

Boo. Wow. That's a heck of a well written case.

llama troubles me because llama always troubles me. I often don't see what he sees and I have no idea when he's being stubborn and obsitnate (I say that lovingly llama) because if he's bad or if he's good. He always just reads that way and I seem to remember him being good more than bad. So yea. :( Troubling llama is troubling.

FZ - believe it or not - you bringing up a case against me - as well as your posts today - feel much more like the FZ I know and love. I've even agreed with you a couple times during my catch up. I do disagree with your assesment of SVS - I'm not seeing anything shadey from her at this moment. I'm willing to admit my heebiejeebies may have been preemptive. How bout we both keep an eye on each other and also everyone keeps an eye on LC because that cat is shifty. Not necessarily in a this game sense - but in an always sense. :p

I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out who to vote for you guys. There's been so much hair splitting that my split end's split ends have split ends. I'm starting to wish the DP option for Day 0 won. :p

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 2]

So - ya'll make my head hurt and caused me to steal one more beer than I should have. :pout:

Keep this up and I'm stealing SVSs cookie stash. :p

Here's the thing I find troubling about Snowman. Even with 10 pages of catching up, he had to see in the first page or so that he was getting heat. He was here tonight - and the whole thread rejoiced to hear his input. You'd think that would make him go "Oh, I should prolly get up to speed if everyone's so anxious to hear what I have to say."

And he jokes around a bit more and leaves. Nothing more about not being quite caught up and will finish in the am - nothing addressing *anything* that's been said about him. Some jokes and he's out.

I know Donner was unconventional because so many people keep saying it was. But ya'll lynched people in the game right? I mean, it shouldn't be too hard for a guy in his second game to figure out that more than one person suspects his behavior and he should prolly come talk about it right?

To me, that coupled with everything else that's been said about him. Make me think my vote is likely going there tomorrow. I'm willing to sleep on it. Because I always prefer voting a late as I can anyway. But yea. Not lookin' so good Mr. Snowman.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 2]

@ LC - I totally get it. I actually agree with you that it will initially be hard to make cases on anyone as far as connections go because of the limited bts. I get it. That's why I went back and re-read you during my coffee time. Wanted to see if my "beer" thoughts panned out with my "coffee thoughts." Still keeping my eye on you though. :p You know how I feel about you. ;)

zeek posted when he was annouced - was that before or after the NP?

Linkie -lol - I was going to start today by saying LC fit that "people you expect to be more vocal but could be hiding in the wings for nefarious reasons." I went back and re-read his posts though and they do feel like they are trying to contribute while falling behind in the thread. IDK yet with him, but the thought has crossed my mind.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 2]

FZ. wrote:At the risk of sounding even more not in the midst of things "like you expect FZ", what has been revealed, and what is everyone talking about when asking about Epi and the eye?

To conclude, because this is a long post:
1. She's using other's suspicions not giving anything of her own.
2. Her reasoning for going after me are the same as what she's accused me of doing, not to mention she keeps saying how I supposedly play, yet she's never seen me as a baddie.
3. She's asking a lot of questions but not saying anything conclusive apart from her "gut feeling" about me. It's like she seems right in the middle of things, but it feels not genuine
1) Yup. I do that a lot. Because I'm not the world's greatest case maker. I often spend the first few days of a new game reading and asking questions and pointing out what I agree with because it helps me find my footing and helps me to try to figure out who I trust. Excepting that game on K-site, where I was the info role, have you ever seen me be the sort of player that builds cases or agressively go after people.
2) I agreed with svs that your suspicion of zombra was odd because you were doing the same thing and she was a new player. Yup. I did that too. I am saying that I expect to see different things from you based on past behavior and I'm not seeing all those things. You were totes right that Tricey was looking other places. Yup I agreed with that. I did not agree with zombra and your suspicion of me kinda feels like a No U. I'm used to a different sort of FZ. I could be wrong, you could be civ in this game too - but your behavior here feels different from how it did at the beginning of the champions game when I was pretty positive by this time in the game you were civ.
3) Yup. I ask a lot of questions. I recall in the Champs game that it made you pretty sure I was civ. What changed your mind between here and there? How do I feel "less genuine" in this game?

I wish I could, but I don't really recall her being a baddie in a game we played together. I know I replaced her as a baddie in a game on K-site, but I'm not gonna lie, that game was so close to over, I did the baddie move of saying I was catching up but never really doing it.

S~V~S wrote:This is just like Waiting For Godot, except we're waiting for Epignosis, lol.

I came into today feeling pretty much the same about FZ as I did before. When she is a civ, regardless of the thread output, she is fearless, poking people and speaking her mind. Calling people out for all kinds of things. This game, not so much. When she finally does suspect someone strongly enought to commit to it (kinda) it is someone she suspects for basically the same reasons she herself is suspoect.

BUT the great Secret Eyeball Revelation plus Russti coming out of hiding has me wanting to see how Epi plays this.
She feels a bit over defensive at being looked at too. I've never heard her say that there was too much discussion going on before this game. Here or on her own site. She's usually the one trying to get people to talk more.

linki - I always feel like I'm late responding to everything. :sigh:

more linki -satisfied in what way TH? Epi's responses? Rusty's? The fact that beer is on the way to me and dinner is easy to make and starting to smell delicious? That it's almost the weekend?

rusty - can you talk at all about why you haven't posted thus far in the game?

linki - boo - that's a good point. I know I saw tricey's quote of aces the same way aces saw it, but the fact that tricey kept looking other places for discussion besides aces was what swung me to *not* vote tricey. I did read aces's posts as genuine while they were happening as well.

I'll second the agreement of this. It's what I've been trying to say about Russ all day I'm just not as eloquent as SVS.

And I do see both sides of the inactives argument. Just not sure where to draw the line betwen inactive and low poster. Is bass still playing? DP? DF if he were in this game? Me if I were still working 11ty billion hours? LC? BR?

linki- ok -thanks for clarifying boo. :)
