I'm making pasta with sauteed chicken, red, orange, yellow and green peppers, portabella mushrooms, tomatoes and artichoke hearts tossed in a butter white wine sauce tonight.
First night I've gotten to cook "for real." in a month and a half.

I was going to make that but BDH took me out to dinner instead. Weird how our brains were in the exact same space.S~V~S wrote:I am making a cottage pie tonight, a shepherds pie, but with beef. It's Irish food season, but corned beef brisket is an Americanized version. In Ireland it's more likely to be salt port or salt mutton. So I stick to Cottage Pie, and Guinness Chocolate Mousse. YUM!!!
Hedgie - we made great use of Chipotle when we were entertaining the vegan friend. But you are right, takeout is damn near impossible.Hedgeowl wrote:Thanks bea!! Thank god I can still eat gluten. But cheese...we have a local goat cheesemaker, so I may start spending all our money there.bea wrote:My poor sweet hedgey.Hedgeowl wrote:
Killing me!! Pizza is my favorite. This looks delicious! We love (d) making pizza and then we can have veggies and meat split.
Week 1 of no dairy and soy is ok so far. I still have goat cheese it turns out. Husband made a delicious skillet tamale pie with corn, beans, red pepper, onions, spices, with a tasty cornbread topping.
It turns out not eating cheese is the hardest part. I love it so much.![]()

I don't know how you are still alive.
Cheese is one of my most beloved food groups. It's right up there with pasta, potatoes and booze.
I dated a vegetarian for 7 years so I got very used to the diet. I really, by the end of it only ate meat at work or at family gatherings. But cheese. No fracking way. I could never give up cheese.![]()
I'm glad you still have goat's cheese. It's very awesome rolled in like almonds or pecans or walnuts and in a salad with fresh fruit and stuffs. Also, takeout, wow so much harder now. This Mediterranean place we like does lots of dairy free and even checked for soybean oil.
the things we do for baybehs.
Anyone have big food plans this weekend?

I can understand that. This is only the second time I've made it and only the 3rd time I've had it.Mongoose wrote:I really like moussaka on occasion, but I find the bechamel to often be very heavy-handed. Patsitsio (spelling?) is also scrumptious.
Yuengling!!!! I love that beer!Epignosis wrote:I'm making my not-so-famous pizza dough.

Yuengling and Parmesan cheese.
I don't have any Yuegling though, so I'm trying Shiner Bock.
those both sound awesome! Last time I made risotto I use mushrooms, bacon, shrimp and parm cheese.Hedgeowl wrote:My husband makes tasty cheesy risotto, but last week we tried a lemon, scallion, basil risotto recipe. Yum! Then we used the leftovers to stuff peppers. Still good, but not quite the right flavors with green peppers, maybe stuffed tomatoes next time.
I thought the same thing bea! We were givng you so much credit Mongoose!
