Is there a quick way for me to go to #177?Alison wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:56 pmYeah, but you also have to be serious about it. You can't just jokingly call him scum in RVS. Esooa had an actual good reason for scumreading Mac and that's good. Nanook... just called a post partners and vanished, so maybe I shouldn't be giving him as much cred, but I do think he's unlikely to make #177 if all three people in that interaction are buddies.

illario - meet Alison. She is very firm on her takes. I have seen her very firmly tunnel 0/2 reads as village. She says things with confidence and assert stuff that feels like a huge ??? because she is very confident in herself. She isn't as staunchly tunneled in the way Sara is but her asserting reads with confidence is very normal despite how correct/incorrect
Alison - meet illario. He will townread a bunch of people for no reason then he will promptly change all these reads on a whim. he is much more likely to townread a bunch of people than he is to scumread (and he's less likely to throw out a bunch of townreads as wolf with confidence) - his playstyle is like the exact opposite of yours
thus far think you're both town, gonna catch up
I thought you knew the reason I do this by now :P

Re: Buckets: War of the GOATs
1.having a similar playstyle to you
2.your interactions with alexa showed like you were actively evaluating your read on me based on information presented by her
3. i already had i think about 3 votes on me by the time u entered. i dont think as wolf u go to such extents to try and bury a villager when there was already heat on me at the time. it just makes you look worse if i ever do go over and flip. id imagine as wolf you'd be more likely to just egg it on in a more passive manner.

Re: Buckets: War of the GOATs
hmmm thats a pretty thought out answer.Alison wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:47 pmI think Alexa is townie. EnderWiggin is null which might actually be concerning because he usually makes a big splash when he is town. I have been on board with Esooa and Nanook's reads of Mac and I don't think he's a target they would try to either misexe or bus if they were scum which means they are most likely town. LC as explained is self resolving. I think Transcend is slightly scummy because I don't understand any of his reads, but he seems committed to towncoring me which means he will dig himself into a whole if he is scum attempting a pocket.
why would esooa/nanook not go after mac, is he like the big dog of the syndicate forums? do you really feel like theyve been targeting him that much? i can see that point maybe applying to essoa since hes her only sr i remember her outting, but i dont imagine essoa to be a timid scum (i dont have much experience seeing her as scum to back this up, its just my assumption). nanooks fos on him was more off-handish from memory and his vote isnt even on mac atm.

fwiw in a world ur town, which im starting to think you MIGHT be, i used to play just like you. coming straight into the game tunneling reads from page 1. ive veered away from it because its bad for thread health and all you achieve is that you put the entire focus on two slots and give everyone else a pass to slide under the radar in a world where we're tvt. all you've achieved is hinder both our processes in evaluating other slots because we've been so focussed in a circular argument that seems to be based on a difference of perspective more than anything else.
I find that my playstyle is extremely effective and does not allow scum to slip pass the radar at all. I have achieved pretty good success as town with my style of play. Perhaps you find yourself unable to focus on anything else, or constantly degenerating the threadstate, when you attack someone early on. But I suffer from no such malady.

where did i locktown him?Alison wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:15 pmI explained to you why pretending like LC is lock town early on is something that is unsupported by actual evidence and that would only be done by wolves with TMI. You attempted to brush this off by explaining that at least one townie has done it. This is an illogical argument because proving that at least one townie has done something does not stop it from being >rand wolf. You have also not engaged with the actual logic underpinning the read.
eh i feel like this is a circular argument we're having, because youre so convinced your argument is concrete, when i know fmpov it has no basis because i KNOW im town. the actual evidence was my previous experience with lime, why is my experience unsupported when alexas reasoning follows the exact same basis?

my only argument is that you said "x is a scummy behaviour" im saying that argument is inherently flawed because it has been proven that there has to be at least one town displaying that behaviour. you arbitratily saying theres 2/3 scum doesnt change that and its an argument you cant prove either.

LMAOOOOOO the way u relate to sara there feels so pure to mealexa wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:18 pmok ngl when i wrote that post i was thinking how sara said something like that to me in a past game and i TR her for it (like she instantly demanded someone explain their reads) so i thought maybe it'd win me some towncred for getting right to business, it literally felt unnatural as i was saying it and i know this explanation is even worse LMAO i am really really bad with starts as game i feel like i'm a wolf regardless of my alignment every game start and feel so intensely self-consciousilario wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:12 pmThis was the quote btw
looking back It’s not as bad as I initially remembered, but at the time I felt like your response was very sassy here in a way that didn’t align with the tone from the rest of your posts where you seemed more relaxed and jovial. It just felt out of place at the time. In the context of you being annoyed by building pressure, then I suppose I can imagine why you would feel this way? But yeah at the time I wasn’t even aware you were being voted. Also you tend to give lots of snap reads like essoa did just there so I wasn’t getting why you were so bothered when someone else had done it.
The other thing I didn’t like was when you were saying that brad was reading you better than me. I mean that could be true, but It felt like you were trying to guilt trip (?) me into changing my read on you at the time. That’s what I meant when I said ur reaction felt preemptive since it was only 3 pages in and I made the read after a very quick 5 minute skim, so imo it shouldn’t be that much weigh so ur reaction to it confused me. That and the fact that you know that I tend to change my reads a LOT throughout the game.
..i also feel like i'm the only person who cares about this LOOOL
ik you change your reads a lot it was kind of a sassiness/annoyance comment out of spite i'm sorry

Re: Buckets: War of the GOATs
well ive liked ur posts on this page betteralexa wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 9:47 pm ah, makes sense
well i will say the games that illario has read me the most uncharitably have been his scum games historically. if i were him i wouldn't take the approach toward me right out of the gate as wolf so i'm a bit hesitant to call him scum, in my gut i actually feel he may be town because i kept expecting him to not townread me immediately in a game (and he doesn't always but he never has outed a SR me on this except when he was scum), and i feel like i'm approaching this game similarly as i would as wolf so i could see it, but in addition to what brad's saying i can't townread him yet
in particular this post has a level of self-introspection that is more often towny than not.

Re: Buckets: War of the GOATs
tbh i didnt even notice there was 2 votes on you already, i just assume theyre rvs/meme votes?alexa wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 9:35 pmit's whatever.
this happens at the start of every single game i'm used to it by now
all i can say if i'm town, im p sure brad and esooa are town so if you're town too, this game shouldn't be that difficult and you should know i do really badly with pressure (i was literally so excited for this game because it's been days since i played and i had this thing in my mind that i was going to be completely reformed then the second it starts i feel myself just falling back into old habits of getting emotional when matt first voted me even tho it was rvs i need to play under an alt for real) , but yeah i know i start off games terribly but the pressure makes it really harder for me
and yeah ik you dont do too well to pressure and ive kept that in mind whilst handling our interactions. fwiw this post you just had felt pretty real to me, do you feel like ive been interacting with you in bad faith? do you tr both people who instantly defended you? (ig u already tr brad, what about nanook?)

Re: Buckets: War of the GOATs
yeah it made u suspicious but it worked out fine in the overall context of the game in that it made everyone think we were tvt and i was able to use the interaction to bus my teammate and get enough towncred to endgame.

Re: Buckets: War of the GOATs
why do u think id be scared as wolf to come at u twice in a row? it worked out fine the first time, and id expect u to think i wouldnt do it twice which means i probably would consider doing it twice for that exact same reason
