First off, Signups for the Legend Of Zelda speed game by Epignosis are open! Everyone loves an Epignosis game, so it will fill up fast
Next, we have two general interest polls up now, to gauge interest in a couple of things.
First, we are looking to see if we have interest in Quick, or pick up, games. Games lasting less than a day. Metalmarsh would like to host, and has some fun ideas. If we get enough interest, we can then discuss a date to try it out. If this might interest you, the thread & poll are here:

They will still be held with 19 players or fewer, but the duration of Day periods now is either 24 hours or 48 hours at the discretion of each Side Mission host. Going forward, all Side Mission hosts must make the length of their Day periods clear so that prospective players are aware when signing up.
This does NOT apply to Current Jobs, which retain 48 hour Day periods only.

I am pleased to announce the promotion of Turnip Head to the global moderation team.
Turnip Head's years of mafia experience display an individual with creativity, diligence, passion, resolve, and of course an incredibly impressive slew of wins, both as a civilian and an FEB.
Turnip Head will make an outstanding addition to our moderation team here at the Syndicate and I hope all of you will join me in congratulating him.

So I'm sure some of you have seen a new red color and a new title (Ambassadors) floating around the site in the past 24 hours or so. Don't worry, you haven't gone crazy!
I'm pleased to announce the promotion of fingersplints, Golden, juliets, Metalmarsh89, and Roxy to the brand new rank of Ambassador!
Ambassadors do not work as a part of the moderation or administration team. Instead, they can be viewed as The Syndicate's official networking and welcome team. All ambassadors will have responsibilities as follows:
1) Ambassadors will focus on finding new areas to expand our network and mafia footprint. As such, they will be actively looking for ways to network with other mafia communities and establish sister site connections. In addition, they will be brainstorming ideas to help bridge prospective members into our own community, and vice versa, in establishing teams of players from our community to reach out to other communities. They will also be brainstorming ideas to make our site as fun as possible, not only to retain prospective members but also current members, and serve as another official team to help us make this site awesome.
2) Ambassadors will serve as our sort of welcome committee, saying hello when a new member joins, helping them to get acclimated to how we do things, as well as just being the friendly faces to make them feel welcome. They can also serve in this capacity to help members who are completely new to mafia find a better footing before starting their first game.
Essentially, Ambassadors are an official think tank that will tackle networking, welcoming, and general awesomeness. No one person can do it alone. The Ambassadors will still need help from all of us members too, but they are going to make it their mission to develop a culture here at The Syndicate that fosters a community where current and prospective members can feel at home.
Please join me in congratulating all of them! I am confident that this group of members will help make this site an even better place.

It is time for The Syndicates Third Annual Hosting Poll for Full Games, hosted by myself & Turnip Head 
We had another good year~ we saw some great games and some really innovative mechanics. We were visited by the LORB, and saw the return to Mafia of some old friends, and we have made many new friends. We joined a larger group of Mafia sites, with Turnip Head as our Elected Representative at our first appearance at the Mafia Championship at Two Plus Two Poker Forums ( http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/59/pu ... her-games/ ) We have increased the number of games being played at one time, so we did not have to place limits on the number of games submitted. We will, however, be placing a limit of one game per host for hosts hosting alone.
For this poll, the submission period starts NOW. Submitted games will be linked to in the first post of the Hosting Thread ( http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... t=66#p1626 ). As submissions are received, we will send out a PM to the prospective hosts verifying that their game has been submitted to the poll. If you are a new host, or just new to us, we will include some hosting guidelines with your verification PM, so you know what to expect.
We have a few guidelines for submissions.
Submission Process:
The Submission Period for the Third Poll starts now. It will end on June 9th, 3 weeks from today. The poll will go up the next day. As soon as one of the two last games finish, the winner of the poll will go into immediate signups.
We have some new players from different Mafia Cultures than ours~ we hope some of them will consider submitting a game to the poll. Some of their home forums do NOT post roles (closed set up); otherwise, all submission must have at minimum a role list and a basic mechanics outline to be submitted to the poll. They must be ready to play, within the three week timeframe, so that if you win, you will be ready to start immediate sign ups.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Turnip Head or I. The basic guidelines for full games are as follows:

You can choose up to 7 games. The votes will be weighted, with a simple weighting scale. First Vote =7, Second =6, etc. So the game you vote for first will be the one you most want to play of the seven you choose.

Hello, wonderful members of The Syndicate!
I am happy to announce we have a lot of exciting happenings around the site lately!
Over the past month, Black Rock and Long Con's highly anticipated Recruitment IV Mafia: Dawn of the Clans game has consistently proven to be quite the epic, but is now down to 15 players! Even if you're not one of those final 15, be sure to watch this exciting game finish out over the coming weeks!

DFaraday's A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder Mafia is currently in sign-ups for the next Speed game. It will be a smaller game of around 14 players and serves as the perfect complement to the two current full games. Snag one of the last few spots to join in on the fun!
Lastly, I am pleased to announce that the first official crossover game on The Syndicate, Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90), hosted by yours truly and Sloonei, has just been posted into sign-ups right now. The game will be a crossover game between our site and the fine folks over at RateYourMusic, some of whom we have come to already know and love (such as JaggedJimmyJay and Sloonei) and some of whom we are very excited to welcome to our community! The game will likely start within the next couple of weeks. Be sure to stop by and say hi to new RYM blood! I am beyond incredibly appreciative of the RYM community's cooperation in making this game happen and I know that this crossover game will be the next step in continuing to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between both mafia groups.

Over the past month, Black Rock and Long Con's highly anticipated Recruitment IV Mafia: Dawn of the Clans game has consistently proven to be quite the epic, but is now down to 15 players! Even if you're not one of those final 15, be sure to watch this exciting game finish out over the coming weeks!

As I announced a little over a week ago, soon Sloonei and yours truly will jointly host The Syndicate's first official crossover game! It is between our site and the awesome folks at RateYourMusic Mafia.
The RateYourMusic Mafia community has been outstanding in their support of this game. We already have 12 players from RYM signed up for this game, and many of them have yet to play a game (or more than one game) here at our site. I am beyond excited to see the influx of these players for this game, and I am incredibly thankful to them for giving our site a chance in signing up for this game.
We have reached our minimum of 25 players, but we're looking for more. The setup is flexible and has no maximum, so if you are at all interested in playing, please consider signing up to play or to be a possible replacement (if you cannot commit to playing).
If you decide to neither play nor replace, you can still be involved in the fun! Sloonei and I will be holding a spectator chat where both of us, any non-participants, and dead players will be talking about the game and literally anything off-topic. This will be the first spectator chat at this site, and I'm stoked for it, since I think it will further conversation among members at this site as well as those from the RYM community.

In the past it has been our policy to have one basic rule regarding conduct on our site; don't be an asshat (or a jerk or a dick or whatever language speaks to you). Recent events have unfortunately led us to feel that we need to specify certain things.
A quick overview of our site guidelines; In the interest of fostering an atmosphere of fun and good sportsmanship, the Syndicate does not tolerate the use of racial or ethnic slurs, homophobic language, or personal attacks designed to demean or abuse others based on arbitrary characteristics. Be friendly and use good judgment, and we will all get along fine. Respect your peers, and respect the hosts.
If these guidelines are not met, at a minimum, posts WILL be edited without notice. We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable here. Since everyone has different levels of what is offensive to them, we will set the bar very high in general.

So the ghouls and goblins have all gone back to their hiding places for yet another year (unless the in-laws are visiting for Thanksgiving or Christmas), and once again the US government thinks it can regulate time.
These chronological manipulations can interfere with our beloved Mafia duties, causing problems ranging from missing votes to all out flame wars because someone said you posted at 8:17am when in fact you posted at 7:17am.
Let me help you avoid all this unpleasantness (and keep you on time for church, if you go, that is, and The Syndicate is the only place you reference for the time). If you live in any place that wants it dark at dinnertime during the winter, follow these steps:
1. Click on "User Control Panel" (top right)
2. Click the "Board Preferences" tab
3. Toggle the "Summer Time/DST is in effect:" to "No."
4. Click Submit
5. Finally, do something awesome like sign up for Star Wars Mafia.

I am happy to announce the introduction of a brand new mafia game category: The Bank Heist! (Heists, for short)
Heists will be mafia games with 13 players or fewer, 3 power roles or fewer, and 48/24 Night/Day cycles.
Are the Jobs and Side Missions just too large or busy for you? These games are perfect for you!
Want to learn how to play mafia? Then these games are perfect for you as well! Heists will be a great way to learn the basics of the game!
Sign up for The Syndicate's inaugural Heist game, Pet Sounds Mafia, hosted by yours truly! Sign up quick, since those 13 spots may disappear!
After each Heist's conclusion, one player will be awarded an MVP award for their play. Every 13 Heists, an All-Star Heist game will transpire, comprised of the MVPs of the previous 13 Heists! Play your best, earn the MVP, and then compete against The Syndicate's fellow All-Stars! If you excel in the All-Star game, you can be awarded a spot into The Syndicate's annual Game of Champions, if you do not have one already!
Speaking of the Game of Champions, this year's edition will be brought to you by S~V~S and Turnip Head! For those of you unaware of the Game of Champions, so far every year at The Syndicate we have run a game that takes players through a giant mafia game, themed off of all of the year's Current Jobs and Side Missions. If you win at least one Job or Side Mission throughout the year, you will be eligible! More details to come as we approach the end of 2015.
Do you have an idea for a Heist game? Post it in The Don's Hideout with the "[CLASSIC MAFIA]" or "[CLASSIC GAME]" designation and PM S~V~S to submit it!

Today I am excited to make an announcement regarding our Ambassadors.
Dragon D. Luffy and JaggedJimmyJay have both been promoted to the position of Ambassador. Both DDL and JJJ have a wealth of mafia experience outside of The Syndicate and are known for their enthusiasm, insight, and exceptional appreciation of the game. We are very excited to have them aboard our team of Ambassadors and think they will be great additions!
Hope you all have been enjoying the new game type (Classic Mafia) as well as the other current games. Keep mafiaing!

Smashfest, the Syndicate-exclusive non-mafia game where you sit back and watch video game characters fight for glory on your behalf, make wagers based on battles, and trash talk about how awesome your contender is, has returned!!!!
And it's bigger and better than last time!
Bigger in that we now have 3 co-hosts of Smashfest this season: Metalmarsh89 joins the team of Russtifinko and myself!
Bigger in that we will be accepting up to 45 participants! That's right.
Better in every way.
