I was willing to make that sacrifice for the better of town, at least at first, but I'd rather not die now frankly if I don't have to.
Followed by 100 posts to prove you were. If Sloonei (or maybe Elo) had received no votes, I wonder if you would have come back so fiercely from PHd land to be so involved. Because it seems convenient.
Lol. Ok. Get this, and I have nothing to back this up, just a heads up:
My theory is that you are Fearless Leader and didn't have a care to the wind if you lose your immunity, but maybe had a change of heart when your partners announced themselves via some code, and that one of them had actually been on the chopping block.

Ah, but see, that theory doesn't work if i still assume you smooched yourself. Because Natasha would not have been able to tell you she was blocked. That theory needs some work, sorry. Ignore me.

What the hell is your problem? I had/have some kind of stomach virus and I've been busy with PhD work. I've tried to put my time into this game when I can. Why do you always have to belittle my attempts to contribute? You always call rainbow lists stupid, you call almost anything I ever do stupid. I'm so tired of it. Just play the game like you like and let me play the game like I like and get over your fucking self.Epignosis wrote:Will that be before you've read the thread or after you've made eleven hundred posts in a row at the end of the Day while most people are at work?MovingPictures07 wrote:I'm really annoyed by all of you frankly. CFDs can work by catching the mafia off guard. I thought none of the candidates for lynch were mafia and I stand by that, SO I FUCKING SUGGESTED SOMEONE ELSE. PEOPLE FOLLOWED ME. END OF STORY. STOP BLAMING ME FOR THIS.
I know I suck at mafia, I'm tired of it getting thrown in my face by literally every player in this thread, but especially Epi, and now even the host. Can we please just stop denouncing methods used by other people? It's really fucking irritating.
No dead comments please. This was absolutely uncalled for. I'm so livid right now, indi, you shouldn't even be fucking talking.indiglo wrote:MovingPictures07 wrote:I'm really annoyed by all of you frankly.

I'm voting for myself. Just lynch me. I refuse to play a game in which I spend hours of my time hunting my own ways, trying to get people to participate, only to have my methods denounced and for people to be rude to me. You all suspect me anyway so just get it over with. This is one of the most unfun times I've ever had in a game, and this is perhaps the most uncollaborative threads I've ever seen.

Because they were.
If the strategy works, then I'm all for it. I'm not going to get into the semantics of your lists, because everyone has lists. Yours can just stick out which makes it more easily accessible for everyone. Which is a double edged sword. I mean, I generally like them, except when I'm on the bottom. Then I don't care for them.
Linki: ok Mp. I'm sorry you're not having fun if you're not just actually appealing to emotion right now. Actually, I missed that long linki. Can I just have a heart to heart with you for a sec, MP? I don't care what alignment you are, but let me be frank.
You are a great person. You put your heart into the ring of the game, even when you don't have time. And especially when you don't have time, I see that pull and that desire to want to be more involved even more, and I've been there. It stresses me the fuck out, and I know you must be even more stressed.
I think you are a great player and I would hate that you would quit in the wake of a perception where no one gives a shit about what you have to say, and how everyone seems out to get you. It's super frustrating, and it's not a reflection of who you are as a person or a player.
I wanted to quit after Recruitment IV because I had over 1,000 posts in that game, really had a great time but I spent WAY too much time ISOing people, doing everything in my power to win. But I always felt like I had people shooting me down, and when I died late in the game, and didn't win, it felt fruitless. Like, I expected everyone to have put in as much work and hours as I had that game, or at least that I would get a reward of some sort for the amount of effort I threw into it. I felt shorted and it was quite a demoralizing loss. I felt like a bad player and no one cared about what i did or didn't do.
I'm fairly new here, relatively. And I have seen a huge influx from the veterans of the site appealing more and more to emotion regarding the way things used to be, and the general feel of threads being more confrontational. I feel like there is a slight disconnect somewhere, and anticipate that the MOD on duty function is not being utilized: helping settle personal attacks on behaviors and ethics.
You're the man. This is your site as much as it is any of the recruits that make up for it. From student to teacher: I have found to take nothing personal online, and to approach things here as I would my work. I'm an actor as you know, and get rejected. A lot. When I mentally prepare for a role, and spend hours combing over sides and plays and songs and shit, and go in to the audition and think I fucking killed it, I used to get really overhyped. I expected something from the auditor. I had an end result, for sure. But where I went wrong, and what made me feel disenfranchised down the line, was that the results weren't coming, and it wasn't fun anymore. I forgot what it meant to be a performer, I forgot what I had signed up for. It started turning into a routine of getting up with guarded expectations, and a sad veil of desperation for wanting to be better.
But then I decided one day and just said "fuck it" and went in to just say the lines. Have a moment in a room with some others, and forget about it. I'd cram for an audition, walk in like I didn't have anything to fight for, and just did the part. And I started booking. And those that I was rejected from? I don't even remember those. I just remember experiencing a moment in time with some strangers.
in application to Mafia, I regrouped, and decided that it wasn't, in fact, the be-all-end-all if I didn't win a game. I've been personally attacked on my character, and it doesn't phase me. I rarely get incensed with games because I take nothing seriously. Lately I put in what I feel like I want to put in. And if people find that suspicious, then oh well. I don't owe anyone here anything, and I shouldn't expect people to believe me in any capacity of alignment.
You've had more experience than I have in Mafia, and for sure on this site. I ask that you don't let this get you down. Because I truly treasure everyone on this site, including you. I really do like playing with you. And I would hope that the pissing matches that some people have been getting into are just game-related and don't transition into the real world. My mom taught me the saying: "what other people think of me is none of my business" and I stand by it. We can't control what everyone says it does, but we can control how we take what other people say about or to us.
Also, you've just reminded me that I need to get new socks. No joke, I just noticed a giant hole on my left one right now. Don't buy 5-Star Walmart brand socks, kiddos.

I think what Scotty said is absolutely right and I'd wager the sentiment is shared widely across the site. I know it is by me.
For now, though, I'm going to ask that we take this discussion out of the thread. MP, I have contacted you via PM, and I welcome a discussion with you. You can also feel free to vent to Turnip Head, the Mod on Duty. I think that we are all friends and we all respect each other, so we should be able to work this out. In the meantime, I hope people can still enjoy the game.

I almost got lynched because of an uninformed vote. Hell yes I'm going to criticize that play.
Day 2 scrambling resulted in Rocky getting lynched. Hell yes I'm going to criticize that play.
Both times, people have forced my hand to save civilians rather than lynch Mafia. Hell yes I'm going to criticize that play.
I'm sorry if you are upset, MP, but Mafia is about scrutinizing people and their reasons for doing what they do. You have two phases under your belt that have been detrimental to civilians. That warrants scrutiny and criticism.
That's all I'm going to say about that.

Everyone, I'm sorry. The last thing I want to do is create nastiness or drama in the thread and I did just that. I clearly should have vented to the MoD or stepped away from the game. It's a wonderful game, Llama, really, but I just don't think I can play anymore -- and it's nothing personal. So please replace me now if you can. I love playing mafia games, but I really should keep the playing aspect out of my life for a while. It's too damn stressful amid everything else, and every time I think I have the emotional capacity to handle them, it turns out to be false. Please accept my apologies, everyone, for ruining this game, and please just continue onward. If you suspect me, great, then lynch me. I just don't have the motivation to continue anymore.

Re: Rocky and Bullwinkle - The Legend of Frostbite Falls [Da
I should apologize for being so singularly focused on Scotty right now, but I don't really have time to develop other cases in depth at the moment. The town reads I expressed yesterday were MP, SVS, and Elohcin. All three of those still stand. Sorsha has been invisible and while I've only played a couple games with her so far, I've already come to expect her to be more of a presence in the thread. I should understand more than anyone right now the limitations that real life can put on Mafia activity, but she hasn't offered up any explanation other than feeling lost and being uncertain, which doesn't inspire me to read her as good at all. Plus her reaction to MP's fire drill both during and after the fact raise a few alarms. She was a willing participant, and then seemed to blame MP when the result turned bad, while also sayinn she herself should not be blamed because she's "just one vote". Seems a bit blindly hypocritical, unless I'm misunderstanding her stance on MP.
I will need to dig further if I'm going to come up with a third suspect. Everything else I've got is little more than unsubstantiated hunch-based suspicion, and that's not worth sharing.

I'm sorry it's gotten to that point, Mp! I do look forward to playing with you again if and when you choose to play again.
I want to give Matt a chance here, but I still think MP's actions reflected on his role, and I can't shake that feeling that he is just a frustrated baddie.
I'm going to agree with Sloonei's sentiment that I have been entirely focused on Mp and could focus my attention elsewhere.
Sprityo and Wilgy are suspicious to me.
Sprityo for offering no reason why he suspects me, except that he thinks I should be at the bottom of the rainbow list. Well sprityo, I think horses should be made of cotton candy. Doesn't mean they are or ever will be.
Wilgy has not offered anything in this game in terms of substance. frankly I don't remember much of what he has offered to the table. He seems wholly agreeable and that always makes me pause.

Yo yo!
I haven't read any of the thread yet besides the last 5 or so posts of MP's ISO, but I can tell you that his meltdown was very genuine and ya all should be ashamed of yourselves. Tsk tsk.
Anyway, will be catching up on the thread today and will deliver my thoughts on who is bad (ie prolly whoever was being a meanie to MP) and we'll go from there!
Bad at mafia? Yes Bad in this game? Nope!Epignosis wrote:Hi Matt. Are you bad?

I think you are less suspicious to me as you were to me in day 1, but a lot of my suspicion in you right now is predicated on MP/Matt flipping. You backed off considerably as Mp went to bat for you. Dropped off the face of the earth, if you will. But enough to come back and say you're up my asshole with suspicion, so there's that. Is there anything in particular you want me to respond to that I've missed, or am i just gonna stay in your crosshairs until you see me mislynchdd?

Hey all, sorry again for my behavior. I especially want to apologize to Epi, indi, and our wonderful llama host since it was their posts I lashed out against. I dun goofed by not going to the MoD and just walking away. I can't stress that enough; the Mod on Duty function is there and I think many of us, myself even included, aren't taking full advantage of its purpose. I want to thank Llama for hosting the great game and a big thanks to Matt for stepping in for me at this time. I'll be out for good now.
I absolutely detest getting stressed out by these games, but it doesn't seem to ever matter how much work I really have to do or how much I try not to involve myself in the game, it always eventually lands me in trouble now that I'm in the PhD program it seems. I just am battling some inner demons (and have been throughout the program) and I let my recent sense of insecurity with regards to my current (lack of, or at least that's my feeling) progress in the program spill over into the game. It's my own fault, really. I'm putting this in green because I don't feel it is appropriate for me to say anything else on-topic, but I realize that in the end all of what I'm saying will inevitably influence the game -- I wanted all of this to be said regardless. Even though I've flirted with taking playing breaks over the last half a year, I think I just really need to force myself away from playing for a while, get some perspective, and at least get through the next couple of semesters first. I took a couple of month break missing out on Recruitment, Champions, etc., but apparently it just doesn't matter because of everything I'm dealing with throughout the program. I just don't get any real social interaction in any aspect of my life right now, and you all are truly awesome and a treasured part of my life, so that's what keeps dragging me back into playing. I just really enjoy playing these games with you all so much. It's a weird conundrum.
Anyway, I'll be definitely around with Smashfest, other OT stuff, and I'm more than happy to host mafia games too -- that isn't nearly as stressful an experience for me. Guess I'll just have to exercise more self-discipline re: playing. For those of you who signed up for Turf Wars, I'll see you there soon.

Why does being lost and uncertain not inspire good feelings to you? The Mafia are the ones who know who is civ and who isn't, the civs are the ones who start out the most lost and uncertain in any game.Sloonei wrote:I should apologize for being so singularly focused on Scotty right now, but I don't really have time to develop other cases in depth at the moment.
I was quiet over the night period on purpose. MP looked like he was going into attack mode on me after the lynch and I wanted everyone to have a chance to see what went down during the lynch before I got sucked into a posting battle with MP. I think enough of us have seen enough of those in games recently. Then the thread took a turn and I wasn't about to come tiptoe into that shit.
Go ahead and criticize me for my vote, I don't care, but what I said about MP is true. He did bail on the wagon he started and it felt like once indi flipped civ he turned on me. I did agree with the points he raised about indi. He raised points about other players too and I didn't think his cases on them were as strong as the indi case. Like I said earlier, he came into the thread and was reading and posting quickly. I was taking those reads as mostly gut-motivated reads, similar to the gth we do sometimes.
So I'm sure this will just be taken as an excuse but since others get to blame their schedule I'd like to at least get to explain mine. I work third shift and get done at 4:30 am, the poll closes around 9:30am my time. Im usually asleep by then but I stayed up because of all the nonsense that went on last minute during the day one lynch. I didn't expect to really be a part of the day two nonsense but i still didn't have a good grip on who I found bad so I went with an indi vote, because like I said earlier, I agreed with the case MP made.

Another day, another vote for Elohcin.Elohcin wrote:C'mon SVS...is it you? I think you're playing with our heads haha.Scotty wrote:Had a long day yesterday. Catching up now.
Glad Mafia is being merciful and killing off low-posters. More content = more power
OR, is someone trying to frame SVS. *ponder, ponder*
Scotty, this post makes me wonder about you. "More content = more power". I think it would be like you to do this kind of kill and then make a statement about it like that.
I am quite busy atm but when I get a chance, I am going to reread you.
After two kills of silent players in a row, I'm way more suspicious of anyone who takes issue with comments about killing off the silent players than the people commenting about killing off the silent players themselves. What I mean by that is that it makes more sense to me that mafia would do this so that they could fish for comments like Scotty's (a perfectly natural and accurate statement about the game) and call it suspicious because they can pull out the "you planned this so you could say this" card. I don't get why so many players started reading Elohcin as civ out of nowhere.

Still catching up, but I'm a little saddened that my only two welcomes also came in the form of suspicions.

Welcome, Matt. I don't suspect you. I suspected MP though so you gotta come through with the town game.Matt wrote:Still catching up, but I'm a little saddened that my only two welcomes also came in the form of suspicions.
