Why push me? I'm confirmed civ. Is this a running joke that I'm not in on or is everyone in this game really deluding themselves to think that their strongest town reads are more than reads and that in fact that they know...for a fact, that the people they think are town are actually the people that they know are town, and that everyone else knows this as well, or at least they should. What am I missing? Because every time since the start of the game someone has referred to someone else as a "confirmed civ" I've failed to see the basis for such a bold claim or if it's just humorous then I'm missing the humor.

Billie Holiday is not a confirmed civ. There are no confirmed civs. Get over it.

As for me being adament to save Tito, I don't like lynching lurkers. Ever. You've already established that you disagree with me on that so there's no need to repeat yourself, but don't act like I was going out of my way to save him. I don't like lynching inactive players because little to no information is gained from it, and their flip is more often than not a gamble. We got lucky this time, because there was zero reason to think that Tito was bad based on his tiny vote record and his couple of posts. I'd rather lynch players based on content and your content seemed the worst to me by a fair margin. Now Billie is seeming more likely to be bad than you.

Well lets see:
you are arong on me, you are wrong on billie, you were wrong on tito while we were all right. i think thats a nice start
Because every time since the start of the game someone has referred to someone else as a "confirmed civ" I've failed to see the basis for such a bold claim or if it's just humorous then I'm missing the humor.
I say confirmed civ cus i know scum her does not bus. not only that she has been scum hunting, poking people, doing iso, and working with people who want to
Billie Holiday is not a confirmed civ. There are no confirmed civs. Get over it.
billie is confirmed civ though, there are sevral confirmed civs actualy, your just not reading the context
As for me being adament to save Tito, I don't like lynching lurkers. Ever. You've already established that you disagree with me on that so there's no need to repeat yourself, but don't act like I was going out of my way to save him.
ok i can litarly pull a quote where you tried to get people to swtich over to me, that is very much going out of your way to save it.
I don't like lynching inactive players because little to no information is gained from it, and their flip is more often than not a gamble. We got lucky this time, because there was zero reason to think that Tito was bad based on his tiny vote record and his couple of posts
and this is why town will lose more often then not, scums can be jsut as inaactive as town. there was no "luck" involved with the lynch
I'd rather lynch players based on content and your content seemed the worst to me by a fair margin. Now Billie is seeming more likely to be bad than you.
and players not posting is also contents. billie is town and im going to bank my life on it. not only do i know silver, but she has been scum hunting, isoing, pushing people, defending her town reads, acting in a town manner.

so we are no lycnhign billie

You guys have no problem with the idea that the last scum cast the deciding vote to kill the Godfather on Day One?

You just voted to lynch Tito Puente based solely on his vote on the Fleck counterwagon. So you think that both Buble and Tito tried to save Buble by voting Fleck, and that their last teammate Mingus screwed those efforts over by casting a late vote on Buble?

PMs received, Day 3 will start in one hour and a half-ish. Shortening the Night by 30 minutes or so, as I've said.

What exactly would qualify as a "real reason"?

Mafia is a complicated game to model, so most analyses of optimal play have assumed both (a) that there are only townsfolk and mafiosos and (b) that the townsfolk never have a probability of identifying the Mafia that is better than chance.

I think that the Tito lynch was perfectly valid. Not only was Tito on cw to scum, but was heavily lurking. This is an easy decision to lynch. Not lynching lurker, when there is no obvious choice, is not the play I go by. Lurkers, if town, will not be helping town. If they have bad voting and are also lurking, they die. Period.

Voting a last minute vote on a teammate going down, is the very definition of bussing. Mingus has been trying to lynch town all game and is now moving on to another townie. I see nothing here but scumminess.

[Take / Day 3] Esbjörn Svensson Trio Mafia

#439

Post by Ricochet »

Image
Everyone quickly broke away after that sinister mess of a scene, during this new and suitable interim. Miss Holiday regained her consciousness and started pushing everyone aside, yelling at them 'I told you so! I told you so!', as she went to take care of her beloved Fleck, who seemed to miraculously rebound, although exhibiting signs of dizziness, every sentence he was trying to utter coming off as tad delirious. They took off together, presumably to tender to Fleck's wounds and then maybe also smootchie-smootch. Hiromi went to climb up a wall and take a nap hanging upside down. All the reed players decided to go outside for a forgetful smoke, although Mingus was kindly requested beforehand to put his bass away. The Host sneaked out to go strangle some mafia.

So everyone left, except, of course, good ol' Vince, yet again eager to investigate some more on his own, after picking up the last time on those fortuitous signals and thus being able to lead the others on the right path. But he was soon malcontented with no new findings whatsoever, so he went back to sulk at the piano and waltz his fingers on some random arpeggios. Soon he was even more turned off by the quietus and the loneliness in the room, so he took his vintage Emerson portable TV out of his bag and wiggled the antennas in search of a good channel. Luckily the Fast Show had started not long ago and he was able to catch a rerun of one of his favourite skits from it and chuckle at it for a while.

EDIT: YouPoop says my video was blocked from viewing, so here's an alternative link, just in case.

'Ha ha ha ha haaaaaaa', Vince kept chortling incessantly, watching the episode all the way through and stuffing his face with peanuts.
Without Vince sensing anything, a figure reached out its hand towards him.
'BOO', shrieked Miles behind him, grabbing his shoulder and knockin' Vince's socks off.
'Oh my heck!' Vince bawled. 'You scared the bejesus out of me! Are you nuts, crazy ol' cat?'
'Hehe, sorry, man', Miles snickered and helped himself with some of them peanuts. 'Whatcha watchin' there? Who this fellow, spitting inwards? I dig his style. Reminds me of my Tutu days...'

Socky began to fidget, seeing them both so laid back and worriless. Never a good sign, especially during the Night. He checked again his death note to see if anything was bound to happen, but was shocked to find the next page, following the one with Tito's name on it, ripped apart. 'This can't be good', he muttered and wondered who was destined to fall next.

He would not have to wait much longer for his answer. 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!' a death cry pierced through the hall's acoustics. Vince spilled the bag of peanuts once again.

Every musician, save for Holiday and Fleck, returned in the hall at that very moment, having heard the noise and looking real spooked themselves.
'What the hell was that?!' asked Potter.
'Where did it came from?' Coltrane wondered unnerved.

'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!' a second, irate cry was heard. The voice sounded different, though.
'Ok, this is hella creepy', Miles squeamishly said.
'Is everyone here? Who's missing?' Coltrane wondered again.
'Anyone that's not here is probably confirmed not here', Coleman wisely ascertained.
'Fleck and Holiday! And Hiromi!' shouted Vince with a worried look.
'Oh no, I'm here', said Hiromi.

Their restless palaver was broken off by Fleck storming on stage, with a berserk look on his face.
'Where is she?!' he cried. 'I passed out again, while she tried to apply some bandages on my head, and then she was gone and my bandages had "HA HA" written on them! Who did this?! What have you done with her?! Murderers! Murderers!!'
Nobody could or would say anything.

'Ok, I'm more relaxed now', the Host said, returning besides Socky, with a cup of joe in his hand.
'Where have you been?' Socky asked and started to fill him in on the dreadful news. Before the Host could say anything, a drop splashed in his coffee, followed by another one, red of colour, hitting the edge of the cup. A creaky noise soon made everyone turn their heads up. And there levitated Miss Holiday, making a slow flying entrance from the upper shadows of the opera-like concert hall towards the stage, the way you see it happen in mega concerts or flashy ceremonies, except that one extra piece of supporting rope was wrapped around her like a collar, in ways that it wasn't supposed to be. The suspended swing stopped right atop the stage, before the very eyes of a Fleck crumbling away on his knees and everyone else panicking.

'Oh that's just great... dripping right all over the kit... someone clean that up right now!' Fletcher found reason to complain.

===

31.X.2014

"Reassuring every listen is the fact that Seven Days of Falling is one of E.S.T.'s most beautiful works. And I mean the usually understated kind of beauty, for this album could sound a bit fragile and unfateful, since it follows through with the same style, consistency and layout as the albums in the Gagarin - Susie Soho - Snow sequence - whilst, to its slight mischance, the following work, Viaticum, would shape things to a whole new level. But surely enough, it rarely happens, if ever, for me to relisten to this album without feeling affected by it in a wholly and wholesome way. Sometimes it even brings back precise memories, like listening to it in a train, while melancholically staring out the window, the endless tundra flowing before my eyes, or in my room on a rainy, unhastened day.

By now, I must be clearly referencing the album's emotional weight the most - and indeed it does have some gorgeous, hazy, contemplative ballads, like 'Ballad for the Unicorn' or 'Believe Beleft Below', but even the more upbeat songs tend to have a highly melodic, reverberating, soft theme at heart (the title track or 'Did They Ever Tell Cousteau'), even if it's amped up by more new interesting textures and dialogues, the way Susie Soho was also mostly envisioned. Finally, pieces such as the first half of O.D.R.I.P. or 'Elevation of Love' blossom into a far more raw, technical or euphoric state - but the core emotional aspect is just as strong and uplifting for me."

Billie Holiday has been killed. Her real name was Silverwolf.

Her role song was 'Elevation of Love' off Seven Days of Falling and she was vanilla civilian.
It is now Day 3.
The Host would like to hear some mislynch tunes, for a change.
Nah, just kidding, you have 48 hours to remove another bad player.

We are all confirmed civs on this blessed day.

I want to see more of Hiromi and Vince. C'mon folks, you're in the band too. I'm gonna start suspecting that one of you is knee-deep in sabotage gravy.

How's it going, you hip cats? RIP Miss Holiday. I could tell from your position in the Buble votes that you were jazzing right.

I got some ideas rolling in my head that I'd like to share. Let's drop the whole "Player X is good because I say they are" tune and use reason to work out the last square among us.

First thought I'd like to share:

Of the nine of us remaining, three have not voted for either of the baddies we've lynched already. Those players are Davis, Dixon, and Uehara. Check the charts that wild host of ours provided:

Look at who they voted for and when the voted. Let me know if anything about these three players stirs you at all. I'm not accusing anybody of anything yet. I'm just asking us to think a little. Yesterday and last night were too testy for my taste. I'm used to pianos hitting perfect notes and it's been a little off-key in here lately.

That's some good old-fashioned vote analysis, just like my uncle, Jasper Sarsaparilla used to do! I can't argue with the logic, but I am not the bad musician in the bunch. I am just Jim-dandy with lynching Hiromi or Dixon.

The simple fact that you three were not a part of either successful lynch means nothing by itself. In larger games, civvies have gone several days without voting for a baddie. It happens, so it's nothing for anyone to get excited about. It's just an interesting observation to explore to see if it could be a clue. It's normal for a baddie to bus a teammate once they're number appears to be up, which is why I'm cautiously skeptical of the "Fleck supabus" theory but I recognize that it's possible. Fleck voted for Puente mostly out of self-preservation since it was the only train a-rolling. That and he probably felt comfortable following Holiday's lead since they're so tight.

You, Mr. Davis, are my lowest suspicion of the three I mentioned before. You followed my lead on an early Day 1 vote. It happens. It happened to put Dixon into the lead over Buble for the moment but it was short lived. Now your Day 2 vote could be construed as fishy since you jumped out early on Fleck, as if that was the logical train of choice. I'll give you that Fleck said some jive stuff about what baddies would and wouldn't do but, as I've stated, I have my reservations on that bit of tin foil. Interesting to note is this: if you aren't the last baddie, then they're a pretty patient bunch, voting all in the middle and end like.

The other two I'm torn on. We'll start with Dixon. We can't really fault his Day 1 vote because the second-place train at the time he voted was himself. The sour note to it though is that he said he was thinking about voting for Buble and felt like he wanted to. But he didn't. Instead, he voted for Mingus. Interestingly, he did not utter a word about Mingus up to that point. Maybe he was jumping on board some other folks displeasures with Mingus' methods but even then he's just voting for other people's ideas instead of his own. His vote also kept things pretty spread out. Day 2 he had a vote on Fleck, then a vote on Coleman and then went back to Fleck after Puente had a two-vote lead. He said he wanted to give Tito a chance to defend himself, which is right noble but Tito's Day 1 vote was pretty sour in the timing. Uehara had voted for Coltrane not long before, so Tito's vote tied things up pretty late in the day, giving his pal Buble a chance depending on Mingus and any late vote changes. Tito looked like a duck, voted like a duck, and sure enough jazzed like a duck, which doesn't reflect well on Mr. Dixon. Puente also had a choice in tying up the votes. He could have voted for Coltrane or Dixon to force a tie. The Coltrane case was built on more substance though, but it's still curious.

Finally Miss Uehara. Her Day 1 vote gave life to a Col-train and allowed Puente to try to save Buble. Uehara hasn't been much of a talker, at least not with words that matter. Perhaps she's flying under the radar. But that Day 1 vote belies all the under the radar squawking. Navarro talked a good game against Coltrane, so you could argue that it makes sense for her to cast a vote for a good argument- but again, like Dixon, it'd be a vote for someone else's ideas and not her own. The part that bugs me is this- knowing that Puente was bad, would two baddies really go for a back-to-back save like that? And if so, why not just hop on our weak but curious Dixon train? Her Day 2 vote is possibly sketchy too. She kept Fleck out there in the lead while minds were changing. Maybe she thought she could use other people's ideas for a second day and railroad a civvie with people out for his blood.

Talk to me, cats. What do you think about any of this? Is it worth picking some more or should we look at other options?
