Re: Survivor: Mafia [Day 1]
I'm guessing it has to do with the day poll. Fishing gets us food (or maybe foraging for coconuts and whatnot?) Winning rewards will get us food too. Going to the well and having a fire gives us water. Resting up (naps in the shelter eg) might give us energy. Just a guess.
Anyone got an idea on this poll?

Re: Survivor: Mafia [Day 1]
My guess is our performance in the polls (fire/food/shelter) helps. Which is fine since we got a good fire and some decent shelter. For the record if it were up to me I would have caught more fish. :PElohcin wrote:I am guess I will be fine for Day 2. Possible it's just a placeholder. Also possible that it gives boons/bonuses to stats or to the next challenge.Golden wrote:I'm guessing it has to do with the day poll. Seems I whiffed on both of my BTSC picks as well, so to remedy that I have a solution:insertnamehere wrote:I didn't gain BTSC with anyone.Elohcin wrote:Would anyone like to share if they gained BTSC with someone and who those BTSC teams are?

To ensure that I can speak with you, I'd ask that anyone interested in this offer say so in the thread. I will take two names per night and make them my picks for BTSC. All you have to do is name me as one of your picks, and boom. The line of communication is open.

I whiffed as well. Is there any problem with agreeing an approach to btsc? I'd really like to get btsc with some of our newbies.

Oy, Jeff, did we get flint for winning the first challenge too? That's normal on the show. The other tribe gets flint when they get fire at tribal council.

I'm bored and thinking about the Tribal Council vote. It would be a tragic miscalculation if they voted for anyone other than DFaraday, but I can't shake the feeling that we might see a shocker. Would they be so bold as to vote out MP?

Alright, excellent job all around! I may not have understood what was going on, but I do understand winning, and I do know how important momentum is to Survivor. Now that we have the advantage, we should press it—we'll have the opportunity to rest a player every day, so we should use the more energy-intensive options in future challenges.
Speaking of energy, voting sustenance in the poll. That's what you need to achieve anything else in life.

I'd be glad to. I was thinking we might go to tribal so I was saving it for that event, but Now that we're not, and you asked so politely:
I asked a question to get clarification on the parameters of the puzzle that was answered imprecisely, so I was working to solve a puzzle that I had incomplete information on, and as a result I got caught up in the wrong path.
Fortunately I had the good sense to pull back.

Re: Survivor: Mafia [Night 1]
I can see how that would happen.
I immediately asked a number of questions as well. Then I realised I didn't need the answers to any of them. Scotty had given all the information I needed, but it wasn't immediately apparent (especially since I didn't know what a 'quart' was.)
It so happened that I was very familiar with the type of puzzle, as well. I had no issues with how I would go about solving it, but if I hadn't come across it before, it would have been much harder.

Re: Survivor: Mafia [Night 1]
Challenge #2: Let’s Rock [Willpower]
Team REWARD, no immunity
Team REWARD, no immunity

For each round, one player will square off against a player on the other team. Players are playing for cumulative rewards- you leave with what you win.
Each player is given 2 rocks- yellow and black- to choose from and place in a bucket. The yellow rock stands for unity and sharing, while the black rock stands for opportunism and selfishness. Players PM the host (or post in their team thread) which rock they wish to place in the bucket.
If a player places a black rock in the bucket while the opponent places a yellow rock in the bucket, the player with the black rock receives 1 point as well as +1 food for him/herself and the player with the yellow rock receives nothing. If both players place their yellow rock in the bucket, both players will return with +1 food for each other person on the tribe (but not themselves), and both will score a point. If both players place their black rock in the bucket, they receive nothing, and score no points for their team. If you do not submit a PM in time, you forfeit your turn, and point automatically goes to the opponent. If neither PM me, neither get a point.
The team with the most points wins fishing gear.
If neither team scores a point, no team will win reward; if both teams become tied with 1 or more points, I will toss a coin for winner. Either way, players leave with any acquired food from the challenge.
Note: you may not share the food you receive in this challenge.
I have drawn for matchups:
DFaraday v Golden
Quin v Boomslang
Sorsha v Opt_Outside
SVS v DrWilgy
Long Con v DharmaHelper
Epignosis v insertnamehere
not sawyer v Elo
MP v speedchuck
Quin v LoRab
Please PM me your choice of rock.
When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather;
not screaming like the people in his car

Re: Survivor: Mafia [Night 1]
Alright, everybody gather 'round while your King gives his decree

First off, what the hell? They voted out sig over the guy that literally cost them the competition? It's obvious to me I was right to assume there's some kind of power play going down. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark my friends, and I for one want no part in it.
This challenge is your typical prisoners dilemma. One option rewards cooperation and compromise, the other punishes greed and aggressiveness.
I urge every last one of you to pick yellow rocks. It may seem like a disadvantage, but I find it very unlikely that the enemy tribe will risk picking black rocks.
That is, if each decision is revealed beforehand, pick all yellow rocks. If we get to see how each person picked as the rounds tick over, we might have to adjust that strategy.
If this isn't a situation in which Tribal Council is at risk, picking all yellow rocks does us no harm.
What do you all think? What do we think about sig's ouster? is Dfaraday some kind of scheming genius or are they all just foolish enough not to punish weak performance?

Although, another fun option might be just to pick all black rocks which would force a coin flip at worst and give us a shitload of points and food at best. His Majesty is willing to take input on this strategy.

To extrapolate on this:I urge every last one of you to pick yellow rocks. It may seem like a disadvantage, but I find it very unlikely that the enemy tribe will risk picking black rocks.
Their team is down 1 player, gassed, and more than probably experiencing a great deal of conflict at the moment. If you were in their shoes, would you risk losing out on much needed food by picking black rocks?

Hmm. No immunity but still tribal. That's ominous.
At any rate, I think we should agree to a strategy.
I also think we should all agree to post our choices in the thread and not do them by PM, to make sure we are all being honest.
We could also do half and half.DharmaHelper wrote:Although, another fun option might be just to pick all black rocks which would force a coin flip at worst and give us a shitload of points and food at best. His Majesty is willing to take input on this strategy.

Re: Survivor: Mafia [Day 2]
Man... with no chance to talk to the other team, this gets very difficult very quickly. Consider the following: they're probably angry at us for winning immunity yesterday, and picking black rocks would be a way for them to get revenge. On the other hand, they have fewer people to gather food, and so may hope to boost their chances by getting food from the challenge.
We have the numbers advantage now; we need food handouts less than they do. If they go all black, and we pick even one yellow rock, we get nothing. Given the lack of ability to establish trust, I'd vote to go all black.
But wait: Scotty, are picks revealed one by one in thread?

Also, I see out glorious leader is idol-hunting. What kind of follower would I be if I didn't follow his lead?

My thought too. I was going to say we all vote yellow. I will PM a yellow unless the team decides we ought to do different.DharmaHelper wrote:To extrapolate on this:I urge every last one of you to pick yellow rocks.
As for the poll....I'll be honest...I need energy so I will take a nap. I am guessing that is how I get it. I must have been awake all night. I promise I was not hanky pankying with Epignosis. I'm loyal to my tribe.

Oh, and anyone want btsc with me tonight? I'm a fun girl.
Banners are cool, but a pain to scroll through so...
I've won a lot of games. I've hosted some games. The end.

Picks will not be revealed until the End of Day. I would still like to get your picks in on the earlier side, however.Boomslang wrote:Man... with no chance to talk to the other team, this gets very difficult very quickly.

I also made a few mistakes with the poll, so instead of deleting it, I'll just tell you: "Attempt to start a fire" should read as "stoke the fire" and there should be no "attempt to build a shelter". Your shelter is currently built
When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather;

I'll send in your name when I send in my yellow/black choice.
