I made a passive-aggressive post about him. To ask more of me is just greedy.

I trust speed more though so I guess I'll vote for DDL, speed's points against him in the iso post and LC's point about the slip are decent and I think at this point I'd rather vote with speedchuck than throwaway vote outside the two contenders. Looks like shit if speed turns out to be bad, but I don't think he is so I'm taking the gamble here. Not feeling great about it though.

k... wasn't I technically indie in BV lol (though we had the team thing eventually)

anyway you should probably be more specific than that. I voted for DDL because I felt good about speedchuck and mildly bad about DDL and I didn't feel strongly enough about anyone else to vote outside of the two. not "covering my ass" just following my normal procedure for deciding on a vote when I don't have a strong suspect

Any time I see a player pull the "Oh golly Gee Mr. Police Mans, I just hate to vote to lynch this person, surely I do. But I gotta, you see? I gotta. I hate to do it boss, but I gotta. Sure hope it works out. Not sure it will, but I hope it does." routine it bugs me. Like, if you don't want to vote for the guy, don't. If you think he's civ or whatever, toss a different name in the hat. You don't *have* to vote for anyone.

You were a mafia recruiter. You recruited me and then we agreed to mutiny and form a third, independent team with Long Con after Timmer died and everyone voted to reveal the role list which blew most of the cover we had since everyone had already just about soft claimed or been lynched.

In Defense of Nutella, I signed up for the challenge 20 or so minutes after Jeff's request, and got a reply back a considerable time after. Not impossibly long but not instant either.

I was just being honest dude. I liked the points on DDL enough to throw a vote his way, especially when he was up against speedchuck who I strongly believed was town. As I said I didn't feel strongly enough about anyone else to toss a different name in. In that situation I vote for the person I feel weakly negatively about, partially to save the person I think is civ, but if it's pretty weak I express hesitation and fear that we may be voting for two civs. I didn't do this "gee mr police mans" thing as you say

tbh that's part of why I hate time-sensitive challenges in mafia. like, if you don't happen to be online at the right time you don't get a chance. it's like "hey, to the few people who happen to be around at this moment, you can have a cool prize!" it's grossly unfair.

not to criticize the hosts though, I think this particular one was done fairly well -- the prize was for the whole tribe and each tribe had a pretty equal chance I guess

Regardless of which side lost the challenge, the other tribe would have sent their own top town read (that would actually read). There's only benefit in scum sabotaging the challenge on one side if there's a highly read scum on the other side who had a chance of being sent instead (to remove the benefit to town entirely).

So for nutella to have intentionally thrown this as scum, it puts a question mark on Sloonei's (or other top reads on the other side) alignment. I think this makes sense.

Despite all this, I can't say that I'd have given a damn who won this challenge. We'd have shared information when we merged anyway, and it'd a ballsy move for scum to lie or omit stuff they read on the other side.

It makes sense for the mafia to scuttle this challenge on one side or another if they're on both sides. Fuck with whichever tribe is on their game, or boost up whichever tribe they have the most advantage on read-wise.

Luckily I am immune to this scrutiny, as even if I were mafia, I am too much of an arrogant asshole to intentionally throw any challenge of any kind even if it would be beneficial to do so.

What I'm trying to say is that if anybody on our side sabotaged the challenge, their only real motivation for that would be that there's a higher chance of scum being sent over from the other tribe than ours. So if Sloonei (or a top townie over there) flip bad, we can look back at this event.

This is all assuming they have BTSC to coordinate this, which I don't see why they wouldn't.

If something like this challenge happens again (where the winner can send someone to read, let us have it so that we can answer those questions about the lynches and nightkills on our side as well. I'm not sure if this thing from Jeff is going to be a daily thing, but best to say it now.

"Why are you ignoring LC"? I answered this already.

I'm not ignoring LC. I said his ISO sucked ass.

I agree with this, which is why I do not have time-sensitive shit in my games.
If my games were to have time sensitive stuff in them, I'd have them go something like this:

I send a PM to check availability and wait for a reply. I'll then send a confirmation PM and if I get a response to that within a couple of minutes I'll send it through. Otherwise I'll do enough rounds of PM's until the player is responding in that time frame. After a certain deadline I'd just send it through.

It might take a while to get started, but it's the most reliable way that I can think of.

I'd really like clarification from the hosts on how much we can talk about these challenges. If I did one, I'd want to talk about it, but I don't know if infodropping rules come into play.

I've asked Golden to address this issue when he gets here.

I think we were fine back in the day. All "civilization" isn't the same. Those things were fun and got people involved. So are contests. To each his own; if you don't like it don't participate.

Yeah, I fondly remember the Perpetual Motion Time Machine contest. Post once per hour for the longest, and you win the Doomsday Hourglass, a device that can turn back time, erasing the results of a night or lynch.

No need to take offense. That was a reference to something I recall someone saying about The Syndicate being like some hidden tribe in the jungle, which I found really really funny.

I enjoyed that as well. I see it more as a hidden Wakanda than some cannibalistic primitive... though we have characteristics of both. I strive to be Black Panther when I host a game. :noble:

Epignosis I was quoting you because that post was the last in the thread; it was more of a generic thing.

I found that "jungle" remark a tad unjust, tbh. I thought we were OK, not backwards or whatever. We were focused on creativity, not conformity, which is paramount to my mind. But I get that it wasn't meant in that way. It just seems to me that there is a lot of complaining about game elements and mechanics in this game and I'm not a huge fan of that kind of thing. There is a place for that, and I don't think the a game thread is it. Grumble Grumble.

And that is NOT aimed at you, it is a general statement :hugs:

Night will end at approximately 5:56 pm eastern standard time today which means pms are due in to me and Golden by 3:56 pm eastern standard time. Also please remember this rule:

4) You may not target someone on two consecutive nights unless your role says otherwise. Some roles will have their targets randomised if you do not send a PM, so if you want to make a tactical choice not to use your night power, please PM the host to check first. All targeting roles need to send a PM to both golden and juliets at least two hours before deadline.

I really don't want to be running randomizations and I know you probably don't want your abilities randomized so please get those pms in on time. Thanks in advance and let us know if you have any questions.
