Mafiachievements
So today I was playing Among Us with some people and I had a (joke) idea about making achievements in mafia games. I thought of making one game with achievements, but now I started thinking more, and it could be a sitewide thing.
For those who don't know, in modern gaming, achievements are like little awards you gain when you do certain things, like beating the game without dying or doing some goofy action you wouldn't do otherwise. Some players are pretty addicted to hunting them.
Here are some of my ideas:
And the Village Slept Peacefully: Win a game as a townie.
The Empire Strikes Back: Win a game as a mafioso.
Joker: Win a game as an independent.
Community Pizza Fire GIF: Get killed in the first day/night cycle.
Please No: Get town killed two consecutive games.
The Golden: Win a game while voting for a teammate's town kill.
The Marmot: Vote for yourself and still live until the end of the game.
The Scotty: The first player you vote for ends the day with zero posts.
The Epi: Make an adverbs based case on someone as a townie, and be right.
The Nutella: Change your vote at least 5 times in the same day.
I can read PMs: Find a mafioso through an information ability and kill them next day.
I am Wilgy and I'm most definitely a doctor: stop a kill on a townie using an ability.
Who needs votes anyway?: Kill a mafioso with a role ability as a townie.
The Best Role: Win a game as a vanilla townie.
Industrious Citizen: Never fail to vote during a game.
The Psychic: Win a game while never voting for a townie.
Heroic Sacrifice: Be the last townie to die in a game, and win it.
Taking one for the team: Be voted by at least one teammate as scum, die in the same day and then win the game.
Surprise!: Win as mafioso and survive until the end.
Supatown JJJ: Be the highest poster in a game as a townie.
I thought I could trust you!: Be the highest poster in a game as a non-townie.
Rainbow List: Give town/scum reads on every player at least one during a game.
Creator: Host a Job.
Role Matrix Master: Host a Heist.
Busy People's Ally: Host a Racket
Purist: Host a Hustle.
Handyman: Co-host a game.
Lifesaver: Replace into a game that is at Day 2 or further.
Syndicate Recruiter: Get a new user to join the Syndicate and play one game.
For the Memes: Vote in a 3-way tie.
I hate CFDs: Yeet a mafioso while voting for them but not posting during the last hour of the day.
Drill Operator: Yeet a mafioso while voting for them during the last hour of the day.
The Miracle: Play or host a game where everyone posts at least once and no one gets replaced/modkilled.
And so on. I accept more suggestions if you have them. Or better names (some of those are kind of lame imo).
As for how it would work, I suspect some hosts might dislike players farming achievements in the middle of the games, so it would be cool if they were allowed to opt out of the system in their games. Alternatively, some game tpyes (i. e. Hustles) would not have them.
Thoughts?

These are very fun DDL! I'm sure this group of creative people can think of all kinds of achievements though your list is great!
You say that some hosts might want to opt out of the system in their games and Hustles for sure wouldn't have them - why is that? They seem pretty harmless and some are downright helpful (like sub into a game at day 2 or later).
My other question is would each player just keep track of what they had achieved and do some kind of self report so they get to brag? Or maybe you had something else in mind, just curious.
It seems like it could be a lot of fun!

Sometimes it will naturally come out, but it can be contained if we just remember that this is a game on a message board forum that 99.99% of the population of the Earth has never heard of before. No matter how successful anyone is, it means just about nothing.

Suggestion
Oh My God You're Sus: Be part of the collective vote that eliminates the player who first voted you on the previous day phase.
(lmk if that name, inspired by "OMGUS" term, has a better alternative)

Re: Mafiachievements
I think that concern came from playing Among Us the other day, in which there were 4 of us left at one point, and rather then play competitively, we rigged several games so that we could each get specific achievements that might otherwise be difficult.juliets wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 11:45 pm These are very fun DDL! Players might intentionally play games to get such achievements instead of playing for their alignments' actual win con.
Like the Marmot.
Apparently I am known for not playing towards my win con.

Also, I'll look into if there's an extension we could use that puts medals/awards on people's profiles, as that seems like one way we could display achievements

That’s a pretty nifty idea! I like bling that isn’t too hard to rig myself with meddling code. Figuring out how to do my signature is complicated enough for my infantile mind

If that's against wincon or not it's up to you.
Didn't you have a thing where you always voted for a zero poster on day 1

I just hate D1’s and what better way to stay neutral alignment than to vote for people not contributing? I’ve since dropped doing it in recent games but I do miss routine.
I started eating Granny Smith apples over Golden Delicious only to expand my horizons but I am starting to miss my old standby.

Re: Mafiachievements
Of course, concerns about people playing against wincon can be somewhat alleviated by requiring people to win the game they're playing in order to be eligible for any achievements.Marmot wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 11:13 amI think that concern came from playing Among Us the other day, in which there were 4 of us left at one point, and rather then play competitively, we rigged several games so that we could each get specific achievements that might otherwise be difficult.juliets wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 11:45 pm These are very fun DDL!
