Rox, I don't see how randomizing helps anything, but I guess we've had this argument before...

To be fair, she hasn't committed to anything. She said probably.

I'm trying to look at it fairly because I understand other people are more OK with randomizing than I typically am. There is a time and a place, I guess. But I don't know why you would say it so far in advance.

Good point on the "probably" though. Guess that's not full committal.

Not necessarily, it just could be an easy way for a mafioso to set up a vote lacking responsibility well in advance of poll's end.

I just don't like randomizing and I don't understand why people do it. It feels like you're handing the lynch to the baddies to me. But I don't want to get into it again because we've had this debate many times and no one is going to change anyone's mind.

Why?

This seems to me you're equating "weird" or "different" v. "suspicious".

What if I decided I wanted to randomize this game? You think that's more suspicious than someone who usually hides behind that saying so?

So let's think about this.

Given people's responses, apparently it is more suspicious for one to change up one's own playstyle from game to game than it is to not, regardless of whether the circumstances were different (in this case, this type of game is very different from a full mafia game).

Therefore, it would be more logical for a baddie to try to confine oneself to one's usual playing style.

I'm having deja vu.

Yes I would think it was more suspicious. Someone doing something out of character for them is suspicious to me. I don't see why it's not. Civvies will tend to do things as they normal do whereas a baddie feels the need to blend and is more likely to do something "different"
especially in a super speed setting like this.

As for Random voting, personally i appreciate changing how you play, keep people on their toes, but at the same time, I don't like randomizing because i'm unlucky.

Consequently, I will look for players trying to seem too hard to appear like their normal playstyle without genuinely contributing.

You're assuming that everything a player does is coldly rational. People slip up and psyche themselves out when trying not to get "caught" as a baddie. Inconsistent behavior can be a symptom of this.

As a player who tries to change up their game type, regardless of alignment, I can't imagine someone even being able to keep up a facade in a game as reactionary as this.

Sure, this is a good point, but how many players have been lynched for being different than usual or misunderstood and turned out to be civvie?

I would argue instead that the shorter timing of this game allows people less opportunity to slip up. I think that's a fair assumption.
