Wish we had a reason each of them was a suspect.............

I remember this too. Because the thought actually crossed my mind to make her my avatar, and I was sad to discover someone had already beat me to the punchthellama73 wrote:Make me.Golden wrote: @llama - sophie had the avatar before the roles went out (in the sign up thread). Pay attention!
I know right!fingersplints wrote:Yay game has started. voted furman. It's always the one you least suspect.
No-one has managed to give any reason why the post actually supports this conclusion...juliets wrote:Golden, what is it you don't understand about the perspective? I will probably also vote porter.

I can see Golden's point here, she could have easily chosen a different word. "Filming" perhaps would be more appropriate. It could be an easy way to tell the truth while lying. Have you ever done that? Makes it easier to accomplish. If you're telling the truth in your lie, you're less likely to have tells.
However, I'm personally leaning towards the cafeteria worker. For reals, who goes to the movies by themselves? Lamest alibi ever, you don't even have a friend to back up your claim?

How do you know he was at the movies alone?

That's now four votes for the porter and not a single jot of rationale from any of them - either in the posts I've quoted or any others. Especially concerning to me with the latter two given I would have hoped they would at least engage on why they disagreed with my reasons why it wouldn't be the porter.AceofSpaces wrote:Hello everyone. I'm very glad to be playing with you all.
I chose the porter because I didn't like the cut of his jib.
Golden, I'm saying his gait became labored after he was tired. This comes from him needing to sit down when he was talking to the detectives. The hat issue is all about how he changed his story as they interrogated him: he he had several flat hats, then he didn't then he had only one and that one was so special he didn't want anyone to take it away. I'm not sure why he'd have to ditch his uniform, he could have killed with it on except for the flat cap. Most of all though the others had things about them that prevented them from being the killer: one couldn't walk, one couldn't talk, one was at a movie. All except for Maude and it could very well be her except her alibi seems like it would have checked out - she would have been stupid to not know they could confirm she was really shooting - film.Golden wrote:No-one has managed to give any reason why the post actually supports this conclusion...juliets wrote:Golden, what is it you don't understand about the perspective? Epignosis said there were clues in the post. I don't see any clues the porter did it?
For it to be the porter, he would have to have had enough guile to pretend he had a limp, and pretend he was drunk (slurring his words). He couldn't actually BE drunk, since he just got off work. But his answer when it comes to the hat shows no guile at all. He lit up and wanted to talk about hats, tied himself in knots, and seemed more interested in making sure noone took his hat than the fact he might be suspected for a crime because of it. Someone who had enough smarts to change his gait and speech would have the smarts to handle that situation a lot different to the way he did. He also would have had to ditch his work uniform and change into his other clothes before committing the crime. He's also one of only two who don't appear to know any Phyllis.
The other four also all have things that feel like clues to me eg the dogs, or the reference to 'shooting', or the apparently false alibi, or the fact that Phyllis had 'rich parents', but I don't see anything in the second one that feels like a clue in the same way.
It just seems so unlikely to me. He feels like the only one of the five I can discard as definitely wrong. And I haven't yet seen anyone really explain in the thread why he is likely enough to already have three votes.
I have never taken day 0 votes seriously. To me, they are a grace period to let everyone know the real game is about to start. I don't really see any point in writing up a two page essay on why I think the porter did it.Golden wrote:Eloh

The only person actually engaging in discussion on the porter is Juliet.
This is now officially getting my eye.
I have always taken day 0 votes seriously. They can affect the outcome of the game. Certainly when I host, they do affect the outcome of the game.AceofSpaces wrote:I have never taken day 0 votes seriously. I'm just flagging early. Jumping on bandwagons without explanation gets you my eye. Easy thing to do if you are bad.
Nope. I don't see a poll like this any different from a lynch poll. An option is in front, and people jump on it without explanation. Easy place to hide. No culpability if its wrong, no harm done if its right. That's what I call a bandwagon.AceofSpaces wrote:Differing opinions, I suppose.Golden wrote:I have always taken day 0 votes seriously. Interesting that you'd call this a bandwagon. Don't you think you're stretching a bit?
I suppose I can't say for certain, but don't you think that mentioning a witness to your alibi is a critical detail to leave out? In fact, what if he were at the movies with Phyllis before he killed herLong Con wrote:Hey, yeah!rabbit8 wrote:blindfaeth wrote:Hi all, checking in! I would say I thought Golden's aggressive pursuit of suspicion using only a D0 poll was suspicious, but I know better. :P
