Example of how swing shifts can suck: I slept for a small part of the day after I got out of work, so now I can't sleep and I'm refreshing the thread just to do something, even though I know I have to be in at a normal time tomorrow and should sleep.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 0)
So, these guys are put forth as the Civvies of the game (or "Townies" for the newcomers). They share the same win condition as The Detectives, with the additional caveat that they have to take out Grodd as well - something it seems The Detectives don't have to do.Mister Rearranger wrote:THE OLD ROGUES (6)Their roles are as close to a "Civilian" Option that will exist in this game. They may be thieves and robbers, but they have a code of morals. As such, their only win conditions are to eliminate the vile New Rogues and stop Gorilla Grodd's rampage. If Grodd is dead, the New Rogues are dead, and any Old Rogues survive, they win the game.
Survival win condition, but The New Rogues need these guys (and everyone else) dead to win. So these guys will need The New Rogues dead to win, making their effective win condition the same as The Old Rogues and The Detectives. More Civvies.THE INDEPENDENT ROGUES (6)These characters wish to continue their schemes without being bothered. They will win simply by surviving until the end of the game.
These are the main baddies, these are the people whose deaths will mean the best progress for the Civvie win.THE NEW ROGUES (7)As Central and Keystone Cities have developed over time, the villains who plague their citizens have become more and more ambitious. The New Rogues are, for the most part, concerned with spreading destruction and chaos around the twin cities, making a name for themselves by killing superheroes and villains alike. They must survive and eliminate all opposing factions to win the game.
Probably good to kill these guys. Host: Do these guys count as an "opposing faction" for the New Rogues' win condition? Do the Independent Rogues?THE "ARCH-VILLAINS"(3)
Each of these characters have been The Flash's biggest threat from time-to-time. They have unique conditions for winning that the Rogues are not aware of at this time.
More Civvies, with an extra mysterious win condition. Civvie ninja here, too, so that's nice. Probably will want to avoid imprisoning Old Rogues, if my read of things is correct - a mostly shared win condition.THE DETECTIVES (3)Wally West and the recently resurrected Barry Allen have joined forces to track down the newest foe threatening their home cities. Using their law enforcement and forensic talents, respectively, they will win if they uncover the mystery of the Gem Cities, and if they manage to imprison the New Rogues. They may choose to imprison the Old Rogues as well, but it is not required.
Just wanted to try and flesh out who we want to be trying to kill here. New Rogues and Grodd seem to be the main targets, but it's probably best to try and take out Prof Zoom and Zoom... just on general principle.

Regardless, welcome to our forum. Did you have a reason for voting L?
Oh, Comic nerd people, any clue what the letters might mean? How many Gems are there? 5? could that possibly be what the poll determines?
Personally, I like the inferred theory from LC that the voted letter may be revealed to us from the secrets in roles. Ie, if you believe that theory, you don't want to vote for the less commonly occurring letters in the alphabet.
Also, did you see anything interesting in the roles to point out, since that was your self-assigned task from your first post?
My guess as it stands is teams.
And yeah bunch of interesting stuff, but i'm going to hold off on saying anything quite yet. As it stands I kinda don't want to touch the roles with a fifty foot pole....at least not yet....
In reply to this:Mister Rearranger wrote:@LC: There will be tildes!
This means revealable secrets. Although tbh it is impossible to read the question in that post if you are on the light color scheme, which I am for phone purposes. For this game, I might go back to dark, though.Long Con wrote:So, first thing on my mind: *secrets* Wow, there are so many secrets in this game! The word *secret* is used, like, thirty times in the role descriptions. Prof. Zoom, Zoom, and Gorilla Grodd have secrets that are so secret that they need to be shown twice! That's some seriously secret stuff.
I haven't looked at the poll yet, but from reading the thread, it looks like we'll be choosing a letter. Barry Allen's dead role check power involves finding letters in secret roles... Host, will we be getting tildes for all the secrets?
Looks like last night was tons o'fluff and a few people trying to discuss the game in the wilderness. Seeing the win conditoons laid out like that makes these factions a bit easier to understand, I was thinking there were a lot less "civvies" than there actually are if you go by win conditions.

I think SVS summed this all up nicely. Our host made it clear that there will be tildes. (I'm a fan of tildes, I adopted them for a while after I had BTSC with SVS early on in my mafia career. Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 0)
I think the host is. Wally West is from Keystone City, and Barry Allen is from Central City, neither of which has anything to do with gems.S~V~S wrote:Are you intentionally trying to confuse people?thellama73 wrote:We're battling for the gem cities.blindfaeth wrote:What do gems have to do with that game?
Plus, there is a MONKEY in the roles? How is that not confusing?

I don't want to live in that universe.

Looks like Llama is either Gorilla Grodd himself, or trying really hard to get Grodd's attention.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 0)
I read gem city, so I thought gem collection like sonic and then I remembered reading something about gems (actually power rings) in the other game, green lantern, and thought it was this game.blindfaeth wrote:What do gems have to do with that game?
Unless there actually is a game about gems, and i'm confusing Green lantern with that game....stand by, further research is required.

I'm really excited for this game! I voted H because it didn't have as many votes as some of the others.
Also, has there ever been a Flash story called "Gorilla Warfare"? Because if not I feel like that's a huge missed opportunity.

That, and spreading hate about The Flash - which frankly I do not understand. If he hates The Flash then why sign up and complain in every post?Long Con wrote:Looks like Llama is either Gorilla Grodd himself, or trying really hard to get Grodd's attention.
I personally think MR has created a great game that will be fun to play!

So what's the deal with this map? How will the map affect the game's mechanics? Does the Day 0 poll have something to do with the map?Mister Rearranger wrote:Disclaimer: This will be a map game! A fairly straightforward one, but a map game.![]()
