Lead an army of axe-wielding anthropomorphic rabbits or giant vultures with razor-sharp talons and wearing spiked helmets?

Re: Would you rather - -

by S~V~S
Anthropomorphic rabbits; vultures would probably strike more terror into the hearts of my enemies, but they would also strike terror into the heart of me.

Live with a group of people in Antarctica, or alone (like totally alone; no one else lives there) in Rome, with all the art, etc.?

With people in Antarctica. We can make our own art.

Goats. I used to have goats, and I miss them.

Green Eggs & Ham, or Eggs & Green Ham?

Green eggs and ham. Somehow green eggs seem less questionable than green ham.

Pork or beef?

That's a tough one. Beef, I guess? Probably depends on the day.

Black. I did that for years in my late teens.

Surrealism, for sure.

In this case normal is good.

We all march to our own drummer; do you like your drummer to blend with, or stand out from, those around you in your daily life?

Re: Would you rather - -

Posted: Sat Apr 30, 2016 8:24 am
by Epignosis
I like to blend in. Most of the time, people who stand out do so for the wrong reasons. I'll leave it to the Allman Brothers Band to have more than one drummer doing different things.

Statesboro Blues or Whipping Post?

I have heard Whipping Post (not sure about the other, tbh. I probably have, but it did not make an impression, I have never cared for that kind of music).

Ramones or Sex Pistols?

Re: Would you rather - -

That's hard. I think the Sex Pistols have more groundbreaking significance, but the Ramones have more personal significance for me,so I have to go with the Ramones.

Saturday Night date; the local Minor League team or a Big League game in the city?

Re: Would you rather - -

Local Minor League team.

I'll explain. Our local minor league team (who plays in their own, independent league, not a farm system) plays in a stadium with a lot of history. The stadium opened in 1915, it was the first city owned sports stadium in the US and remains the 3rd oldest ballpark still in use by a professional baseball team in the country. (Fenway's the oldest, followed by Wrigley followed by Bosse Field here.) It was also the stadium in which they filmed the game scenes in the movie A League Of Their Own. Going into that place is like magic. Period. I'd spend any number of summer nights there. :noble:

You get to talk to the players, rain delays are great because you get to talk to them more (and they're such nice boys, always give any kid who asks a ball, and they'll autograph if the kid wants), after every game all the kids get to run the bases (and the kids at heart ;) ), the boys don't make much money so they're playing for the pure love of the game... it's just such a real baseball atmosphere. I love it. It's pure. It's magical in there. (Plus, getting free tickets is a BREEZE, not to mention all the promotional give away nights, fireworks night, etc.)

Black Flag or The Clash?

(I love our current theme. Punk music and baseball. And sorry for the novel, you just hit on something that means a lot to me.)

The Clash. I'm not familiar with Black Flag, but I'll have to try sometime.

Would you rather see a pitcher throw a no-hitter, or a batter hit for the cycle capped with a walk-off home run?

Re: Would you rather - -

Posted: Sun May 01, 2016 7:38 am

Hit for the cycle. Now if you had said perfect game ... I still probably would have chosen the cycle.

Henry Rollins or Jello Biafra?

Ooh, tough one. I'll go with Henry Rollins, but only by a hair.

Definitely a 2-run scoring triple.

Lilith Fair.

Little lap dog or big monster of a dog?

Re: Would you rather - -

Posted: Thu May 05, 2016 6:53 am
by S~V~S
Ooo hard one. I had biguns for years, then I had a pug, and now a pug cross. So I would say little, but pug like; pugs are a lot of dog in a little body. I don't love most small dogs, but I love pugs.

Volunteer at the Special Olympics or for Habitat for Humanity?

Re: Would you rather - -

Posted: Thu May 05, 2016 9:45 am
by S~V~S
Habitat for Humanity. It seems counterintuitive, but I have 2 heavily special needs nieces. I see enough of it at home, we do tons of enrichment activities with the girls, and it is frustrating at times since, while you can improve their quality of life, you can never really SOLVE their problems. Helping someone to build a home can, and does, resolve a need for them. I would feel like I actually helped solve a problem for someone at the end of the day.

Italian ices; cherry or lemon?

Lemon, I guess.

Establish a viable colony on the moon or Mars?

Re: Would you rather - -

Posted: Thu May 05, 2016 9:59 am
by S~V~S
Mars. Better exploring. On the moon, you dig down through the moon dust to just find more dust. On Mars, who knows what you might find? The moon is a dead world, and always has been. Mars not so much.

Would you rather; do you prefer to the point replies, or replies with explanations?

Explanations are useful most of the time, so those.

Paintball or water gun fight?

Re: Would you rather - -

Water gun. Paint ball is silly, imo. At least in water gun fights no one is pretending to be a great shot/hero/whatever.

Barber or salon?

Barber. Get in get out.

Own a carousel or a large water slide?

Re: Would you rather - -

Posted: Thu May 05, 2016 12:45 pm

Carousel. Timeless beauty I could enjoy in winter, when I am too old for a waterslide, plus if cared for it appreciates in value. Plus fewer people would visit me :p

Would you rather read peoples writing with spelling errors, or grammatical errors?

:overreact:

Does that answer your question? ;)

I prefer bad spelling to bad grammar.

LOTR.

The Shire or Minas Tirith?

Re: Would you rather - -

Posted: Thu May 05, 2016 12:59 pm
by S~V~S
Minas Tirith sounds much more grim, even without the grouchy old steward, so the Shire.

More terrifying; Smaug or SHelob?

Re: Would you rather - -

Smaug. I'd like to think I could last a little longer with Shelob.

Double handed sword, or double headed axe?

Re: Would you rather - -

Two-handed sword. I don't think I'd be very good with a large axe.

Pippin or Merry?

Re: Would you rather - -

Posted: Thu May 05, 2016 1:37 pm
by S~V~S
Merry; Pippins obsessive compulsive possession re the crystal ball thingie was one of the scarier things for me in LOTR, believe it or not.

Arwen or Eowyn?

Arwen.

Aragorn or Legolas?

Re: Would you rather - -

The Ring: use it against Sauron or cast it into Mt. Doom?

Re: Would you rather - -

I am from the race of men, and so I would try in earnest faith to use the ring against Sauron, become corrupted, and be destroyed.

You're the fourth little pig: Stucco or Stone?

Re: Would you rather - -

Stucco looks dumb anywhere but the desert, I don't live in the desert, so stone.

A million dollars no one knows you have; keep it for you & your immediate family, or spread it around?

Were it a significantly larger amount, my answer would be different, but I would keep it and keep it quiet. I would stay home and write and record music full time and drastically reduce my blood pressure. :)

Write or record music?

I don't live in the desert either but my house is stucco - it's far more prevalent than brick here.

I would keep some and put it in my retirement fund and give the rest away.

You can visit one relative this year and see no others. No dinners or get togethers at the one relative's house. Who would it be?
