The end of D1 ended with our hero jack on Seanzie. Leads to a high possibility of scum not around end of day.

And if there WAS scum around, 2 active scum could have swayed that lynch

No, I had to target 3 players and the result would say either fail = all 3 are town, or not fail = at least one of them not town. But since the result said fail, I interpret this data meaning that those 3 players are town.

A) what is the name of this ability and B) why did you check these 3?

The role card didn't provide a name, it was just a text box without a title.
Because I was looking to find three town players, so I targeted the three whom I had the most interactions with. And the result hopefully means they're town.

Which means, if you can believe me, that the four of us are confirmed town. If you still lynch me, I will flip town, so you will have proof that what I said was honest.
If someone of those three flips, they will be town. If they were mafia, that would mean my action was broken. I guess. But it's probably correct as I laid out.

Let me think from the perspective that this is true.

Those names were probably a good check to clear us, because in this case, selecting not-town-read people would result in a fail, which helps in identifying one mafia of many players. Maybe this role isn’t as broken as I thought if used appropriately. I don’t know if Martin foresaw this use, because it IS a broken role if it returned back as you say.
