Interesting. Lizzy and Hedgeowl come in with relatively late votes for Boogs, and Mongoose claims to vote for Boogs but doesn't actually.

Who does this? Like, ever? It would be a terrible idea especially in a game with multiple baddie teams and in which participation is actively rewarded. There's no civ cred at all to be gained by pretending to be silenced and I don't get why someone would even think a player might try it.
People do it. You must know they do. However I went onto say something like "for whatever reason..." so I was obviously not convinced myself. Just putting it out there , you shot it down which is fair enough.

I wasn't shooting you down, I just don't think it's something that would be done. You can't really claim civ cred by being silenced.

I need to vote but I'm not sure who for. There doesn't seem to be much point voting anyone other than Mongoose now, and a lot of people seem convinced she's bad, so I guess I'll throw my vote there in absence of anything better to go on.

I never actually said that, just that I wouldn't expect to see it done. I don't see the point of someone trying it. It's definitely not a way to gain civ cred, nobody ever uses a silencing as a reason to believe somebody is or isn't a civ. So I don't understand why Snow would suggest anyone tried to make themselves look like a civ by pretending to be silenced. It doesn't make sense.

Day 4 -- Escape

This time, the talk was short. Confident from having found 3 baddies in a row, the group decided to continue the streak by voting Mongoose. And so they voted one by one as they woke up in various states of grogginess from the spiders' poison, and began to struggle against their bonds.

A few players quieted down as the day went on. Perhaps they were to parched to speak, or too weak from hunger and poison to bother.

As evening approached, Boogs struggled more frantically within his cocoon. He managed to get a hand on his knife, and sawed himself free. He fell to the ground with a thud and an "Oof!"; luckily, his cocoon had been one of the ones closest to the ground. When he had caught his breath, he began to cut the others free...all but one. The group had decided to leave Mongoose behind, to be rid of her and appease the spiders.

However, when Boogs was midway through his work, up popped Mongoose behind him, as if out of nowhere. "Hi, chum!" Boogs, startled, called to insertnamehere and Dom for help, but when they arrived, they could find no trace of her, and her cocoon was empty.

For lack of a better idea, they continued to cut down their fellow travelers, and to share a meal from what little they had carried on their persons when they were attacked.

No one has been lynched. It is now Night 4.

Night 4

Image

The last cocoon he opened belong to Snow Dog, who had dozed off. Boogs was working quickly, as the sun was below the horizon, and he was scared the spiders would come back. Snow Dog fell quite a distance, and yelled in pain and bewilderment when he landed. The sun was setting, and the spiders must not have been sleeping as soundly as before. Almost immediately, the group heard clicking and shuffling, coming from the trees all around them.

This time, though, they were ready, and they could still see in the dying day's light.

You must decide whether to fight or run from the spiders tonight. Majority wins.

Hey, do you guys want me to delete poll responses that get no votes? In that thread?

The lynch poll posts are SUPER long, and to make things easier to find I can delete names of people who get no votes. You wouldn't be able to see exactly who was alive every day, but you could get that info from the main thread and the Polls thread would be less cluttered. Let me know what you think in-thread; if public opinion seems to be for it I'll do it.

Also, the NIght 3 poll in the Polls thread has been updated to show how votes actually stood at the end of the Night, after changes were made due to the difficulties some had in understanding the poll.

For the curious among you, the changes were: Boogs voted drink instead of eat, and k4j voted refuse instead of eat.

I am back (and not dead!), and my absence had nothing to do with wine.

That was seriously the fishiest day/lynch poll I've ever seen.

I don't know what's going on, but I have one point to make: No one has suggested the possibility that the indy team could be aligned with the full-strength baddie team. If that is the case, we may be scwewed.

With that said, allow me to dispell another bafflingly incorrect analysis of the original case against Boogs seen in the posts I've quoted below. I don't know anything about Bullzeye, but he is incorrect if he thinks my case suggested that Boogs would gain civ cred by faking a silence. If he did fake a silence, I think it would be to cover up his repeated and obvious claims for suspicion of known/lynched baddies after they were dead.

Wow what a crazy lynch with no one dying and very interesting to ponder on... I caught up and saw I got some random votes with Lizzy and Hedgeowl... Not sure if those are genuine votes that they found me suspicious or because they were hoping to some how save Mongoose for alterior motives. Nonetheless, I look forward to hearing from them. I'm not sure what to do about the spiders but I did notice in the story he said that we were ready this time, so it makes me feel like we are able to defeat them. It sounds dangerous though.... And I'm not sure where Mongoose went? He disappeared? Interesting story indeed.

And for the faking thing that was brought up, I would never fake being silenced to gain credibility. I just saw Tranq fake being silenced in my Pokemon game and it gained suspicion on him and I pondered why he would do something so silly when he was the main Civ character. Even Epignosis can vouch for that having co hosted with me.

My comments were not directed at your case. I was responding directly to points made by Snow, who was saying that Boogs might have tried to gain civ cred. It's his argument I disagree with. As far as indy (neutral, really) teams go, there's no reason to believe they're aligned with anyone right now. Usually neutrals will just win with whichever team wins while they're alive, and they tend to side with the civs because it's easiest.

I'm voting to stand and fight!

It's illogical and makes no sense how I would want to fake being silent Day 2 in order to gain credibility after a Day 1 when I did nothing suspicious to "cover up" or anything to gain that early in the game. It would make perfect sense if someone were to fake being silent after a few days to get suspicion off their backs or something, but not on Day 2.

Right, I just reread the roles, and there are a lot of secrets, but I see two main possibilities for Mongoose's survival.

1. She is Smaug, who is unlikely to be able to be lynched due to his armored hide.

2. She is a Goblin Tow Goblin who has the help of:
Goblin Inventor
Goblin who creates mechanical devices with devious purposes.
Creates items such as armor and weapons for his tribe.

I suspect that armor would be useful at stopping a lynch. The second option is, in my estimation, much more likely, giving the way the votes came down, which indicates teammates in my view.

I also think Mongoose knew full well that she would survive, given her halfhearted defense. This would be the case in both of my above scenarios.

Voting Mongoose. She is already lynched at this point. Boogs has only 4 and I am not sure how I feel about him yet.
Though I believe Sunfire (Elo?) did that in X-Men and she was good.

I still agree with this general theory though. Civvies don't really have good reasons to fake silences.

My theory is that Mongoose is good and Mongoose voters are bad. :srsnod:

I vote we turn and face the spiders. Let's not expose our backs to the enemy.
What do you mean "If"?
I don't know how I was saved and am not making any assumptions.
Right. Okay.
But surely, you were saved? You would know if you weren't saved. You would know if your role had a power, if you had bought an item in the store, etc... ? So what do you mean IF you were saved? Were you or weren't you? This isn't an ambiguous thing. It's the question of do you know how you survived or not.

Just because we run doesn't mean we are cowards. Our mission is to get to the Lonely Mountain.
