Re: Fantasy Movie League - Transactions Thread
The funny thing is... in Fantasy Football I think the key isn't the draft, it's the transactions. That's what determines whether you win.
Here, I'm thinking maybe it's the opposite. The exception would have been if you could drop or trade something already open.. .for example, now that I know I have the most box office, would I risk dropping or trading some of that box office knowing someone else could pick it up? (Not advocating for this btw, just an interesting parallel to fantasy football in my mind).
And of course, I could be completely wrong and Jay, DH, dunya and timmer could be the last 4 standing

Re: Fantasy Movie League - Transactions Thread
TBH I'm feeling pretty good about my chances. My films (the majority of which I picked in the actual draft) could do real work in the awards scenarios. Screenplay, Score, Visual Effects, I feel pretty good.Golden wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 6:13 pm The funny thing is... in Fantasy Football I think the key isn't the draft, it's the transactions. Re: Fantasy Movie League - Transactions Thread
i was a little silly before, i thought the phases were connected, i didn't know you just had to ensure you werent the very bottom of the box office earnings to earn a spot at award season. next year my strategy would be different, but i'm happy with most actors i have i guess.

Re: Fantasy Movie League - Transactions Thread
I'd bet on me doing better with what I've got than any of the undrafted stuff though. If I'm betting on who wins I'm betting on timmer.
It really depends on who goes out early. For example, I'm feeling reasonably confident that I'll do well at the Globes. I'm feeling far less confident that I'll do well at some of the latter awards shows, but what if someone who would goes out at something like the Globes? This is what's really intriguing here to me.
I have a similar strategy to DH - I'm going for technical categories - hair, makeup, song, sound editing, special effects. Really the only acting category I'm competing for the win in is best actress.
I wish I could drop Julian Dennison at this point but c'est la vie. Before the Deadpool reviews came out I thought he had a wildcard shot at Best supporting actor. With a Taika Waititi script he would have.

I’m really not that into transactions either. I just like to pounce if I think someone else made a mistake in this thread.

boy erased looks really good, but nicole kidman's role looks a bit week compared to Crowe's supporting act. not sure i'm gonna score any noms from her there so might be dropping her..

Probably a good move. Dropping meaningless box office for greater awards potential.

All I know is everyone came out of the premiere at tiff convinced this would be huge. It has a simplistic pablum like message about race with likable stars and a fun story say hello to crash, the blind side, driving miss daisy....
