Well, I'll leave deciding whether it's important to the coppers out there, I just figured it was worth pointing out. I've had games in the past, though, where I've questioned something that others seemed to understand and it revealed that I was a baddie in that I didn't have the same info in my role pm that they did.

I just have one thing to say for now:

YO WHATTUP BITCHEZ?!?!?!

I'm going to read through all of this thread and then I'll comment a bit more.

SVS: I won my fight btw.

It's a solid point, but more of a "keep that in mind for later" than anything else IMO. I see what you're saying, though, believe me. If we get to move cities again I would be weary at the least should Hedge show up.

What happens when you fight? Are you just told if you won or lost?

How were fighters chosen where you all came from? Any volunteers?

Lol, so I don't know what's going on, but I checked them AGAIN and re-assigned them here, so I think it's good to go.

Anyone, if you can apparently edit your posts, just let me know, since that shouldn't be an option. I've had quite the fight myself with the permissions settings for this game, since I've had to create new subforums. :noble:

Hello Wilmington! This place seems to have had more interesting discussions than we had back in Newcastle, though maybe that's because it was kinda quiet. I find it interesting that people here were somewhat wary of voting for a volunteer while we just went with the first person to throw their name out because it was easy :p

Also, this post gave me a good laugh while I was reading through the thread:

Why to you want to nominate someone who wants to be nominated? We do that for President and it never works out.

Well that's what you get for creating a complex game. Serves you right, dumbass. :P

As for me, in the thread I came from (Delaware City), Day 1 consisted of:

Me: I'm feeling risky. I think I'll volunteer to fight since we don't know what's going on. Plus, I get to be the guinea pig, and if I die, it's just one civilian down, so little to no harm for the rest of you.
*Some deliberation back and forth*
Everyone else: Okay. We'll let you volunteer. We vote for you.
Me: Thanks! I think I'll vote myself too.

So I got selected unanimously to fight, and I guess Aces got picked too with no votes, which made me think Sockface randomizes with ties for these fights.

Apparently, I won my fight, gained 2 levels, and severely injured Aces. Which makes me think that he could possibly die if he loses another fight. At least, that's my interpretation. Anyone have any other questions for me?

Also, I feel like there is someone else besides SVS who came from my same thread, but I can't remember for sure.

Linki: I know Bullz' question isn't directed at me, but as I won a fight, I will say the only thing it seems like I gained was experience.

Yeah, I think that's what happened with our thread. And as I pointed out, we could speculate all we wanted, but given Day 1 was us literally being thrown into the fire, I think the fact that we had someone in myself who was so eager to volunteer, everyone else just went with me to see how the fights work.

What do all the newcomers think about llama's suggestion that Wilmington natives just kill off any tourists that happen to wander into town?

Yeah the same happened with us, DH got all the votes and Kate was presumably just a random choice.

Thanks for answering that! DH, did you injure Kate or get any update on how she's doing? I'm guessing not based on your other post, so perhaps she didn't get seriously injured. Maybe BWT is just a badass.

I basically did what BWT says he did, I said "this is fight club, imma fight" and then I got 3 votes or so in the poll. I can't remember the votes for my opponent as a few people may have been tied, but I ended up fighting SD, who won. I lost but wasn't seriously hurt.

My guess is that MP has assigned us all some kind of health value, and as we lose fights we may lose health. Since I'm told I wasn't seriously hurt, but others were apparently "seriously hurt" there must be some kind of mechanic to determine it all. The modern equivalent of rolling twenty-sided dice, etc?

I think if we are to follow llama's advice, than I want to fight again for more experience. :D As long as I don't kill anyone, because I don't have any strong reads on anybody yet.

Otherwise, I don't like his train of thought.

I will add in that I get the feeling that in order for Tyler to die, someone will have to fight him. And I'm sure he starts the game super-powerful, so I think even with me having fought once and being a Level 3, that I would still be severely underpowered. Plus, the only way I would volunteer to fight again right now is if you were willing to put me up against either: 1)somebody who is inactive or very quiet, or 2)somebody that most of us don't trust. Otherwise I think I'll sit out for a round.

But basically, from what I can gather, the game ends either when Tyler and all his recruits die, or when all the Policemen are dead or recruited. And I think right now, the quickest ending would come from Tyler dying. Which probably only comes from fights.

Linki w/ Bullz: I'm a badass alright. But not quite in the way I thought I was. :P

Linki w/ Timmer: Yeah, I think there's some kind of arbitrary health system in play. Not sure if we could ever figure it out though. That's a good point about llama, too. He may have earned himself my vote this time around.

Or better yet, throw me in the ring with him. I'll teach him a thing or two about saying mean things to strangers. :srsnod:

Mine's 1. I kinda want to fight to bring it up, just not against you or anyone else who has already won. I do like the suggestion we could use you (or presumably Boogs/DH?) to just beat the stuffing out of somebody undesirable. That might be an idea worth investigating.

Well, since we're all being perfectly honest I guess theres no point in me holding back that I won, seriously injured Kate, and advanced to fighting level 3.

I would not be opposed to fighting again, but I think Rule 8 applies here. I would rather see two people who haven't yet fought duke it out.

BWT, I took a screencap on my phone of the poll, it is hard to read, but you, me, Aces & Nevin are coming here. INH missed the poll.
Congrats on winning! Is Aces OK?

Image

Did Llama really say that? If so, he has my vote, that is VERY un civ friendly, since almost all of us are civs; there is one Tyler, and maybe he got a recruit or two last night. This is exactly what Nevin & Boom were warning us against in Delaware City.

OK, off to see what has happened here.

If Aces voted to come here, he's not on the poll, so I would guess he might be kinda not ok. Unless it was a mistake by MP. BWT seems to have been told Aces was hurt but not outright dead, so I dunno what's gone on with that. Maybe seriously injured people go to hospital and aren't around for a while?

I'm not sure about Aces. Hopefully he is okay (assuming he isn't Tyler).

And yeah, personally, I'd rather see two people who haven't fought yet duke it out. I was just suggesting myself v. an undesirable if we couldn't come to a consensus.

Assuming it turns into the second one, I would be perfectly fine with taking on llama. But for now, it seems that Sorsha and Bullz are also willing to volunteer. So I will consider voting for one of them as well.

Linki: Yeah, maybe being severely injured is equivalent to being silenced? Idk.

http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 386#p73386 There you go SVS, thats where llama talks about killing us off as we arrive.

I would be most comfortable with two people from Wilmington originally fighting. I don't know if I want to give Llama the opportunity to fight and therefore increase his fighting ability.

I think if Aces was dead you'd have been told you killed him. Injured people are quite distinct from dead people in that their bodies are actually still working, just not at 100%. If he's still alive I'd bet he's silenced or maybe he stayed back where you came from? If he needed taking to hospital they're not gonna drive him all the way out here.

I'm definitely up for a scrap. Feeling like Brock Lesnar over here, I just wanna beat someone up :p

But spaghetti isn't here anymore. He chose to move to Jersey.... whether he made it there or not is anyone's guess.

Idk.

That's fine, you can be Brock Lesnar, I'll be Cain Velasquez :P
Can I be WWE Lesnar where I only pretend to beat people up but I look really tough doing it and everyone pretends to be afraid of me? :p

Linki: I think it said Spaghetti wasn't seriously injured though.

The way I look at this setup is like dis: we are essentially a live version of one of those elimination games where you list 50 rock bands, give each ten points and then people subtract 1 from one band and add one to another. etc. Eventually, bands start hitting zero and they get removed from the game.

If we've got some kind of health value and a fight level, and they get affected by fighting, each of us has to decide how to survive the elimination game. For instance, never fighting in the rock band example would mean you safely stay at "ten points" while others go up and down. That would work for awhile as others died off before you ever fought. But eventually, you'd be the guy with ten points surrounded by 100 pound behemoths. Think of it like playing Texas Hold 'em and folding every hand. Eventually the blinds will kill your stack even if you never play a hand...

So different people will likely come up with different strategies. Those who already won a fight would likely like to fight again soon, since they have an edge now. Having lost my fight, I'm inclined to not fight this time, for example. But for those voting, the question becomes... do you hand those who want to fight the chance to fight, or do you force people who don't want to fight to fight to cull the herd?

Crazy game.
My siggie.

This is an interesting question. We had some theories in DC, but we seemed to be gravitating to the winner in each presumed thread fight each other.

Since the poll only called for one person, it never occurred to us (or if it did occur to anyone, I don't recall them saying so in thread) that two people from the same thread might fight. I was rather surprised when both BWT & Aces were set to fight. IIRC, we all were.

And reading back, I see Roxy is playing :daisy

Glad to see you, I did not pester you about this since i knew you were on break, but glad to see you!

Llama, which hometown? Past, current?

I have no idea about who to pick. Does anybody besides Sorsha want to volunteer?
I meant the town that is the name of this thread. Does nobody read the name of the thread but me?
I saw that, but it didnt mean anything to me. So you think other people are in a different hometown?
I saw that Timmer mentioned this tonight, and I kinda see his point. I have played games where the baddies did not know certain things based on what was in the civvies PMs (Rox, I want to say Survivor was set up that way?) so you had to be realllllly careful about what you said. It could also be that Hedge just read the "You are a civ" part, and did not pay much attention to the location.

I see you guys also had volunteers.
Devin the Omniscient wrote:Also, like boogs, I was expecting the game to continue in the other forum yesterday and no one was posting. Today I decided to be more observant :)
What other forum? Did you guys have access to another thread?
thellama73 wrote:I feel I've waited long enough and we only have a few hours to go. I'm voting for >SpaghettiEverywhere.

Let me explain.

Since we don't know the consequences of fighting, and we don't know who is good or bad, I believe selecting a non-participant as a Guinea Pig minimizes risk to our group, while hopefully giving us information. Others should follow my vote, because I am smart and it is the right choice.

Or you could choose to tie the vote like Bea is insisting we do (madness.)
Ha ha ha!! when I saw that Llama had a method, I KNEW IT WAS LOW POSTERS. Ha ha ha.

i said something very similar~

Isn't it reasonable to assume that other towns face exactly the same problem though? They will reduce their numbers as well, and some of them will doubtless move here.

I propose a Wilmington Alliance, where we stay here and then make the newcomers fight each other when they arrive.
I don't understand your thinking here. How is this any different from leaving? Are we assuming we'll have some sort of home field advantage over a fight we still haven't learned the details of? I'm assuming you're proposing a voting block? Which we would (I hope) have regardless of traveling or not. What am I missing?

If every town has a chance to travel, and one of their travel destinations is here, it is reasonable to assume we will see some new players tomorrow. Every town will see its population decrease by the number of players who leave minues the number of players who arrive. If we all stay here, we will have a population increase rather than a population decrease, which seems to me to be a good thing. Moreover, we have all been chatting for a couple of days which means we are beginning to feel each other out. New arrivals, or if we arrive in a new town full of strangers, will be a mystery.

Ergo, it is to our advantage, for now at least, to stick together and kill off the newcomers as they arrive, rather than allow oursleves to be killed by those from other towns. Suppose the New Castle folks came to this same conclusion? Any of you voting to move there will be walking into a death trap. Not me, thanks. Better the devil you know.
You seem to be treating this as if it were your city against others; it is not. It is us against Project Mayhem. The majority of the players start as civs, or civ aligned like the police.

But to be fair, this is something i have seen in this particular thread as i have been reading back. A touch of zenophobia from several people, not just Llama. But this particular post was exceptionally overt. From his tone, I doubt llama is Tyler Durden. I think he would be being more careful if he was.

But is this reasoning why most of you chose to stay here? If so, tbh, you won't be seeing me again, lol.

Disgruntled Porcupine stayed in Delaware City by choice. The rest of us wanted to explore, see what was out there.

@SVS: "The devil you know" was exactly the analogy I was going to give to DH back at Newcastle (Sorry I'm just getting to that now, btw!). Though I use it in the context of: If we're to suss out baddies, seems like traveling in packs would give us a greater amount of time to observe each other while simultaneously being introduced to new players.

@DH: Yeah, I think everyone but us is still in Newc, haha.
