Maybe I should approach it differently -- use ONLY seemingly 'objective' criteria like voting records, contradictions, etc. like Epig and llama prefer to typically take, but the problem with that is that civvies act illogically and are wrong all the time. So I feel it has to be some combination of past performance and subjective criteria. You run the risk of being wrong, but it is what it is.

I suppose I could consider a scenario in which I am definitively wrong about MR. It just feels wrong to feel he is likely civvie for most of the game, then to just switch around and consider voting him today, just because he made a recent vote that was really pingworthy.

Do you really think the SK would be that obvious?

That said, I actually think the fact that Lizzy randomized in the other game but then went out of her way to justify her Mongoose vote here says SOMETHING, I'm just not completely sure what.
Well, FZ threw out maybe five or six names as suspicious before getting killed. That provides a lot of cover; the names were "SVS, Epig, Bass (I think that's him), Lizzie, Zany dex, Lou," so Lizzy could justifiably claim that the kill came from one of five other sources. It's her other behavior that pushed me to vote her over these candidates.

I think I need a break from this thread/game, lol. I'll mull over everything and come back later for more discussion. I feel I'm hitting that OBSESSED mode where I'm thinking about everything too much.

Linkitis with Boomslang: Makes sense. I would consider a Lizzy vote... and also a Bass vote, out of those who currently have votes, but I don't think I'd feel good about any of the others. I'll have to think about it more too... or maybe less. Lol.

So for example, what makes someone more suspicious than him? I am just curious what beats a voting record for you? Part of me thought that scum would not throw away votes so obviously, but when you look at his latest vote it is done in a way to kind of look like it's not a throwaway. He assures that he'd be okay with a lynch of other players but doesn't contribute. One of the scummiest votes I have seen this game.
I guess suspicious is technically a matter of complete interpretation when all is said and done, but I would say there has to be some combination of voting records, perceived manipulative or deceptive behavior, interactions with known teammates, and post content.

Maybe I'm just wrong about MR, I don't know. I just can't help that it doesn't seem really out of character for him and that I just don't think he's a baddie here -- if it makes sense, I suppose it's not that dissimilar from the fact that I think Lou's behavior is real scummylike but you say it's normal for her and not scummy at all.

I will admit his most recent vote bugs the hell out of me. But what benefit would he have to act like that if he were bad?

Maybe I just should shut up, I don't know. :p But the problem with that is 1) I love to talk (in mafia games); (2) if no one ever talked, we'd never uncover anything.

I'm just feeling very cluttered and scatterbrained; I don't like how we haven't had a successful lynch yet. I feel like I'm grounded in certain beliefs, but who is to say I'm even right about those? I mean, what if I'm wrong about Epig and MR, or what if I was actually right about S~V~S and I backed off? Or what if I am right about Lou, coincidentally, and you're defending her for being 'normal' rightfully so but her game just doesn't differ in this case? I guess sometimes you kind of just have to stop the second (or third... or fourth... or infinite) guessing at some point and just make a subjective evaluation of how someone is acting based on those criteria I specified above, otherwise you could just keep guessing forever.

I don't know if that answers your question at all... but hopefully it helps you understand where I'm at.

Did you finish any of your re-reads yet?
So these types of votes are in character?
And no I haven't really reread, I tried but I just don't think I have it in me...you're definitely dedicated, which makes me not want to vote you, even though that'd be stupid if you are scum.

Yes, yes, I know I said I'd take a break... Lol. I will... I just had to check back in.

They're not exactly out of character. I helped lead a lynch against MR early on in the Shawshank game (though since it's still going on, I shouldn't talk more about it) and he was very sporadic and illogical in his votes... he NO U'd back onto me and then voted Bullz for seemingly no reason (like he did for you).

Oh, okay. I get that. It does take a LOT of time. Dedicated is one way to say it... crazy is another. :p

And if you really think I'm the best place to put your vote, then do it, even though I'd be sad.

Really? You think the SK would be so obvious? I would think it wouldnt be a smart move to kill someone who directly suspects you, especially for that role. Lizzy certainly has her own style, but she's a damn fine baddie/indie usually. Your encouraging others to vote for Lizzy on this basis makes me :eye: you for the first time Boomer.

That said, I actually think the fact that Lizzy randomized in the other game but then went out of her way to justify her Mongoose vote here says SOMETHING, I'm just not completely sure what.

Also, this right here I should have read first too. So Lizzy was one of many suspicions of FZ. Wuld have liked that in the original post. However, I really doubt Lizzy is the SK. She wouldnt miss that many kills.

ITA. Boomslang just entered my radar, I fail to follow the logic. Plus there are many people who may have felt threatened by FZ, not just Lizzy.

As I've posted before, the other behavior consisted of being really blendy (in a self-conscious, self-deprecating style) and dropping hints about being indie. For example:

http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 723#p44723 "I'll try to fly under radar and hope no-one takes notice."

http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 432#p45432 "Why did you randomize?" "Because I can."

And most interestingly to me,

http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 436#p45436 "Poor indies, no-one gives a toss about them."

Followed by http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 539#p46539 "I believe FZ was a player offed by an indie SK. ;) That being said she seemed fairly civ-ish to me."

I feel that there's likely more to that winky-face than meets the eye.

The only things I have noticed about Lizzy are:
1. She was the first to vote for Mongoose and I do not recall prior discussion (could be wrong)
2. Her post today that she said she is very bad and encourages people to vote for her. It's strange to me, I'm not sure what the purpose of it is.

As for the winking face, I thought it was just teasing because the story clearly stated that she was killed by Triple H. As a SK, why would she bother with a double meaning behind that? It would be suicidal. Also I tend to agree with the idea that she would not miss out on kills, I don't think she'd plan that as an excuse and hold off on kills before this past night. Perhaps she was blocked or something though.

As for the other types of strange comments I feel like that is just in her personality/way she plays the game. Have you played with her before? If so has she not acted like this before?

That type of comment - the "I'm bad, vote for me lol" type - is really pingy, at least to me. Forces everyone into a wifom situation. I guess we just disagree over if the wink was that sort of comment. The missed kids are a concern, but there are enough blockers in this game to make it reasonable.

As for her style, I'm really not sure. If I've played with her before, nothing really stuck.

This is an easy way to come back if MP is lynched as a civ to say, well I wanted to vote Devin, just had to save myself. I cant really speak to her Mongoose vote, but so far her behavior has seemed "normal" to me. Lizzy's post about the Meat Boy game was particularly genuine to me. We gunned for each other quite a bit in that game as civ-civ sadly. Sneaky sneaky baddies. However, if Lizzy were bad I would never be shocked. I highly doubt she is the SK as others have said.

Linki- oh really? Day 0 you say. Hmm, that is interesting. It is true that MP is lynched very often, so at least Day 1 people might give him botd. I have him on my possible suspect list, but honestly he has been working so hard to uncover baddies I just cant see it this game so far.

You know... that's a really good question. Considering I'm willing to reconsider when it comes to Lou and Dom, I guess... I don't know. Maybe DP. Or maybe I was wrong about S~V~S especially after her opportunistic vote here. Or maybe Bass or Sorsha even. Sorsha has looked worse to me lately I must admit.

How about you?

I think her vote seems either very opportunistic or just completely misguided. I can't tell... I haven't seen anything from Daisy that makes me think she's bad, but she's hardly posted.

I think her "excuse" reflects her beliefs legitimately (I know the last thing she would want is me stressing about mafia when I've been waiting for this vacation all year), but I don't understand why she didn't even say anything game-related, or what her "mostly" means.

I think it will be telling to see who actually ends up voting for me. So far, I'm not too surprised with any of the people who have, but I wonder if others will too.

This is easily the most vote-spready game I've ever seen. :p

GAH!! You and MP with these kind of comments. They are SO suspicious!!
Seriously, can someone tell me if these type of comments are normal for you guys? On KSITE you'd all be long gone. They just feel so emotionally appealing to me!

It's insane!!! I feel like in some ways this game is kind of like MOTU and Homestar had sex, but of course it's something different entirely. MOTU had some really insanely tight lynches, and Homestar definitely has had some similar feel to parts in this game as well.

For some of us, yeah. But we act that way regardless of affiliation. We lurves the drama!

That's S~V~S to a T, regardless of alignment. She is one of the most aggressive, passionate players I've ever had the acquaintance of playing mafia with.

That said, even though her vote pinged me here, I'm still not sold on her baddieness. I'd say right now she's right at the "slightly leaning baddie" and not firmly. I had her on the other side of the spectrum before, or maybe fully in the middle ??? of both sides-ish.

Hm, interesting. Makes me wonder if I was right in what I saw and now I am being driven by doubt.
Wish I had better feelings on MP to save him because it's been a pleasure playing with him.

What do you think about SVS?
What do you think about MR?
What do you think about Sorsha?

I may vote SVS to save myself... but I honestly think out of everyone that currently has a vote, Bass is the most suspicious to me right now.

Whatever happened to the Sorsha suspicion? She doesn't have a single vote. Odd indeed...

OMG. Did you do this on purpose? These type of comments are so suspicious on KSITE. But apparently not here? I just don't know how to scum hunt on this site if these comments are made by both scum and townies..

Probably in my bedroom, given that that's where my laptop lives :p

I really don't understand this sudden movement against you, and if you are lynched today and turn up bad I'll be surprised. I won't be voting you though, not unless you post a screenshot of your role PM showing you as a member of a baddie team. But then you'd be modkilled so there'd be no point. I do find it interesting to note that everyone who has voted you so far is a fairly low poster...
LOL, nice answer.

I appreciate that. If you had to vote right now who would it be for?
I'm actually not sure. I'm going to reverse my decision to only vote for someone who already has a vote because I don't have any strong feelings about most of them. Of the vote-getters, Bass looks kinda off to me but I don't think I can justify a vote for him right now. I feel the same about Dom actually, I could see what people were saying about the case on him but at the same time his own posts remind me of a less aggressive version of our interactions in Bioshock. Of Sorsha and DP, I still think at least one is a bandwagoning baddie and some of Sorsha's posts have raised my suspicions a bit.

Boomslang's thing about Lizzy seemed strange (because he seems to think she's hinting at being the SK), but I'm not sure if I think that means he's bad or just didn't think it through. I can't see even the zaniest of zany players admitting to being an LMS role, not even to celebrate Saint Zany's Day. A lot of people are also just too quiet for my liking. Dex and Elo spring to mind.

I may end up just sticking with my day 3 suspicions at this point but I'm gonna try to do a quick overview of everyone and see how I feel.

Of course I did it on purpose; what kind of question is that? I'm telling the truth. I'M NOT BAD.

And I've seen these kind of comments made by scum and townies plenty of times... so I know you can't just take my word, but I don't know what else to do at this point. I've sunk hours into this game scumhunting and all it does is get me votes.

It is interesting to note apparent differences in what is considered "suspicious" because Lou's jumping behavior seemed really off to me.

Understandable. Thanks for the thoughts nonetheless.

Boomslang seems to say strange things all the time and it always grabs attention. Not sure what I think of it, but my read on him is about the same it was before nonetheless. Agreed on Dex and Elo being way too quiet... but same with CBK, Daisy, etc. as well.

I suspect MP for his emotional appeals and his (not sure how to label it?) shift of opinions. It appears that emotional appeals are normal on this site and his shift of opinions could be genuine confusion, plus I have seen him sold on something (Lou) which kind of excuses him from the shifty opinions because it proved that he was not afraid to make a solid case and stand by it. Yeah he has kind of backed off, but rightfully so, if you ask me because I would expect him to trust me at least for a little while, on my interpretation of her behavior.

SVS, I think my main concerns with her are more "solid" than MP, because they're actions rather than general style. What I still to this day don't like is how she thought Mongoose was scum for crossing the threads, (she defended this, I totally forget what she said, maybe I need to go back and check). I know she felt that Mongoose was trying to stay offtopic because of a lie detector, but I don't know about this one. Anyone who used this is just suspicious to me. Then there is her latest vote for MP that is almost a: I have to do this, instead of I want to do this kind of vote, which pings me.

Then there is MR, who just throws most of his votes away, and that is super suspicious to me but apparently not out of character.

Of course Sorsha's vote for Vomps was suspicious to me too and her defensiveness around it. But she is kind of on the back burner because I haven't seen anything else from her to reenforce my feelings.

You don't think the way Sorsha voted for me today was suspicious?

The way she made it about Daisy's "mostly throwaway" instead of about her feelings of me pinged me. In addition, I addressed her points about me but she ignored them completely.

I just don't get it.

I've never been particularly good at reading her, so I think that tends to put me off trying to form a strong opinion. I have thought a couple of things from her were odd, the day one stuff with Epi reminded me of times I've seen her as a baddie. She also said she thought Mongoose might have been trying to distract people by bringing up the whole crosspost issue but I don't see why any player, particularly someone as experienced as SVS, would think that somebody might consider that as a useful tactic. I think she's more likely to be bad than you are but I dunno if I'm prepared to back that up with a vote.
