Looking at the matrix, this would be an extremly dubious plan. There is only 1/3 chance of there being a towndoc and if there isn't evidence of a vig shot soon, it would become clear that there isn't a doc, so mafia is looking at a 66% chance of failure in such a plan simply from mech, not to mention the chance of failure of just something going slightly wrong like town just not considering a potential clear or potentially clearing someone mafia did not intend or the vig shooting someone and everyone thinking the vig shot was mafia's shot.
