This trend really got me.

Day 8: Ice Mountains

It was as though the icy death of thellama73 were some grim premonition of the weather to come. A bitter western wind swept through the passes of the Ice Mountains, which the party had begun to traverse.

Snow descended in large flakes, nearly heavy clumps of frozen precipitation that blanketed all without prejudice. The thrashing gales teamed up with the dense snowfall, blinding the drained travelers who fought their way onward.

Stinkor’s putrid scent repelled the snow from the bodies of the ones whose tongues were burdened by gibberish.

Despite the violent chilliness, that urge to kill, to know the truth of one among them, welled up within them. A faction was convinced Dom should be broken again, but the negotiations were rife with accusations of deceit, and a new candidate for death emerged: Snow Dog.

Snow Dog’s demeanor upon hearing the sentence was, like their environs, cool. As the blows of branches and clubs descended upon his body, it was like he expected rescue. His manner shifted as three of his ribs cracked like twigs in his gut. It was then that he groaned and tried to ward off the volley of blows, but his feeble defenses by then did not serve him.

Everyone recognized the vicious teeth and cruel red eyes. The stunned crowd watched as the fiend’s matted, bloody brown fur became swathed in a white purity.



Snow Dog has been lynched. He was Grizzlor.

Day 8: Stilia

As the day waned into a snowy gloom, the storm began to overwhelm them, and so they took shelter in a network of caverns. Having gone in far enough, they built a fire to warm their frigid limbs. Just when they had gotten comfortable, a roar pierced the air. For an instant, the party feared that Grizzlor had been revived and was on the prowl.

Before anyone could prepare any method of defense, a pack of white beasts had them surrounded, a crew at mouth of the cave and a snarling host farther within.

One of them, more aged than the rest, approached the terrified party.

“We are the Kulataks. This is Stilia. It is our home. And you are trespassing.”

“Please,’ someone said. “We mean no harm. We were seeking shelter from the blizzard outside. Please trust us.”

“Trust?” The beast thought a moment. The light of the campfire flickered against its white fur. “We do not trust you. But we may come to do so if you prove yourself. Come.”

Warily, the party followed the pack deeper into the caverns, their path illuminated by some bright lamps several of the Kulataks carried. Just as their sense of navigation had failed them in that labyrinthine mountain, they halted before a large, ancient door.

“We are the miners of Eternium,” the head Kulatak said. “It is the most durable known metal on the planet. A long time ago- we have lost count of the days- we unearthed this strange door, with this strange grid. We have the desire to know what is behind it, but we lack the wisdom.”

The door featured a 20x20 grid. Each column and row had a number or series of numbers associated with it. Each square cell in the grid could be slid out.

“Tell me: What do you see?”

Well, I certainly overreacted and attempted to lie my ass off to cover it up; I knew it wouldn't work, but I figured if I could cause some chaos and confusion just for a LITTLE bit longer, then I'd be proud of myself. Seems I couldn't even do that. Oh well. You all will understand once endgame arrives and there will be some more context.

I seriously considered trying to continue lying even after that flip, but I realized there was no way in hell.

The key was this time around I really, really tried to keep in mind all of the feedback over the years of how people said I've acted when I'm civvie, especially in Futurama. It worked, at least, for a while there. Damn you civvie BTSC bastards, I say, you all know who you are.

Damn, I just couldn't do it anymore, lol. I never try to give up (the recent game on HV should be the best example of that), but this game has taken it all out of me already.

Indeed, LOL. I've played enough of those games where I've lied my ass off and didn't end up winning as a result (Sword of Truth the most notable example) that I know when it's time to fold, and as soon as that lynch did not go the way I was hoping, I knew I had to fold.

I must say though, in games where I have been civvie and I AM telling the truth, it's frustrating as hell for these type of games to be held against me. Especially when I don't even win. Come on, people!

A song for you, Grizzlor, from Grizzly Bear, which is honestly the closest band I listen to that has a name closest to yours. And the song has a knife in the title. As a tribute to all the good times we had in BTSC, buddy!

Man, this game has been a freaking blast, Robert's done an excellent job and I especially love his host posts. Very well written. It was great to have BTSC with you, Daisy, and Kyle last game, that was equally exciting.

And hey, I actually have been civvie before! Lol. But I tell you what, like 8 or 9 of my first 10 mafia games ever I was a baddie each and every time, LOL, and then there was a period where I got mostly civvie roles and a few baddie ones but kept dying early, whether by lynch or NK. Then ever since then it seemed like I was getting a pretty healthy mix, and now the last two games I've played I've been baddie, and then civvie in Futurama before that, which was also VERY fun (I loved my role, Zoidberg ftw!) as well as baddie in Kate/Andrew's infamous Spongebob mafia where SoFi outed all of us, hahaha. It's been an awesome string of games.

I was really happy when I was handed a baddie role this game, but I'd like to be a civvie the next time, I think, lol.

In fact, I probably would win the award for most times as an outed baddie, LOL. I'm sure this is at least my fourth time (SOT, AHS, Spongebob, this).

I have to say, I'm glad we have a new insanifier. Many people knew their way around LC's too well and it defeated the purpose.
